On the Corner

On the Corner is a studio album by jazz musician Miles Davis, recorded in June and July 1972 and released later that year on Columbia Records. Owing to its unconventional sound, it was scorned by established jazz critics at the time of its release and was one of Davis's worst-selling recordings. Its critical standing has improved dramatically with the passage of time; In 2014, Stereogum ranked it as Davis's best album, while in 2007 BBC Music noted its influence and foreshadowing of a variety of subsequent musical genres.

Joining previous multi-disc Davis reissues, On the Corner was reissued as part of the 6-disc box set The Complete On the Corner Sessions in 2007.

Music

Davis claimed that On the Corner was an attempt at reconnecting with the young African American audience which had largely forsaken jazz for such groove-based idioms as soul, funk and rock. Much to his chagrin, the album's commercial success was as limited as that of other albums since Bitches Brew, topping the Billboard jazz chart but only peaking at #156 in the more heterogeneous Billboard 200. In addition to the discernible rock and funk influence on the album, it also represented a culmination-of-sorts of the proto-electronic editing approach that Davis and producer Teo Macero had begun to explore in the late 1960s.

The Corner is a seven-block collection of bars, restaurants, bookstores, and night spots on University Avenue in Charlottesville, Virginia, extending from 12¹⁄₂ Street Southwest to Chancellor Street. located across the street from the University of Virginia. It is bounded by Graduate Charlottesville on the east and Bank of America on the west.

While the university is in session, The Corner is especially active at lunchtime, when faculty, staff, and students adjourn there for the midday meal. Patrons of the Corner's sidewalk cafés can be found spending time over a good book or simply sipping coffee and people watching. Of the 67 businesses in the district, all but sixteen are locally owned, though there has been an increase in chain stores recently. The Corner is encompassed by a Charlottesville historic district, limiting redevelopment and demolition.

As of 2000, The Corner had 26 restaurants, eleven bars, three coffee shops, one hotel, and one apartment building.

Complete is the first full-length album from South Korean boy group, BtoB. It was released in Korea on June 29, 2015 and contains 13 songs total: 11 new songs, a previously released bonus track "Shake it" from their 5th mini album Move and an acoustic version of their debut title song "Insane". They promoted with the title track "It's Okay".

Release

On June 4, 2015, Cube Entertainment announced that BtoB would be releasing their first official studio album on June 29, 2015. They also stated that the song release will be followed on June 29 12 AM KST, with title song "It’s Ok". This marks the start of BtoB's 2015 full-scale comeback activities. Ahead of comeback, BtoB notified the 180 degree different transformation of their style compared to previous promotions, with their first ever R&B ballad title-track "It’s Ok". "It's Ok" is expected to be reversal with a different level of BTOB's powerful vocal as weapon. They also stated that this transformation would show a more 'music influenced' side.
