Came here opening night with my boyfriend yesterday on 9/9/13 and had a positive dining experience! We will definitely be back. As one of the most anticipated restaurant openings in fall of 2013, it has the potential to be comparable to other great New American/Californian Cuisine restaurants in this city. Came here opening night with my boyfriend yesterday on 9/9/13 and had a positive dining experience! We will definitely be back. As one of the most anticipated restaurant openings in fall of 2013, it has the potential to be comparable to other great New American/Californian Cuisine restaurants in this city. As my boyfriend being a Chef who works and knows this industry VERY well, and being a food enthusiast at heart, we both combined have VERY high expectations when it comes to our dining experience.
The menu opening night started with lighter more refreshing dishes then moved into more savory options. He and I had about 9 dishes total, out of 16 dishes and maybe would of ordered the whole menu if they didn't run out of some of the options. All of them were great as a whole.
Cocktails were great, we both had Old Fashioneds but were disappointed to see ice machine(small) ice cubes that watered down the cocktail.
Other great cocktails we tried were The Garam Masala and Cardamom Cocktail, and the The Yuzu Shiso Cocktail both were distinctive in flavor, and unique in their components.
Sliced Hamachi; with Granny Smith apple, fennel and radish - was very light and refreshing dish. The ingredients blended well together and both the granny smith apple and fennel were light flavors that didn't overpower the taste of the Hamachi.
Lobster ceviche with caramelized coconut, pineapple, corriender: Probably the least of my favorites, it's a very testy dish if you love coconut and fruity flavors.
Beef tartare. Marcona almond, herbs and chile- a very unique twist on tartare, the different herbs in this dish packed transparent and well paired flavoring with every bite of beef. Although the dish said it had almonds, the almonds were butted and not as flavorful as anticipated.
Corn Ravioli, baked potato, potato chips chives- Overall winning dish. Executed well and can definitely taste the sweetness corn in the ravioli, the corn was sweet , smooth and savory.
Grilled Pork Belly with gitante bean, radicchio slaw. and carrots : Delicious dish , raddiccho slaw seemed to be the prominent flavor in this dish. Didn't really catch the gigante beans . As for the pork, you can never go wrong with ordering a pork belly!
Warm potato salad with pickled cucumber, ,apple and marinated soft boiled duck egg- I have never had warm potato salad, and the ingredients in this dish fused well together. No ingredient over powered another. Balanced, savory and delectable.
Bucatini with uni, garlic, and red pepper bread crumbs: - Pasta had a great bite to it, but the taste of the Uni was over powering the rest of the ingredients. But still delicious.
Fried duck sandwich with slaw,pickles and spicy aioli -THE BEST DISH OF THE NIGHT!! Duck was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. The bun for this sandwich was toasted to the right consistency. The slaw, pickles and aioli packed a punch of strong flavor with every bite. Mouthwatering, and over all my favorite dish!
Milk chocolate ganache, hickory ice cream, bourbon caramel and marshmallow- Perfect for the chocolate lover, hickory ice cream was smooth, delectable and married all the other components of the dish to compliment one another.
Overall, I really like this place! I recommend giving it a try, there is something for everyone, especially with the adventurous palate. You wont be disappointed. Staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is inviting. We cant wait to be back again soon. Excited to see where Chef Adam will take the menu and the concept as this restaurant establishes its unique identity in the upcoming months.
