Robert Earl (born May 29, 1951) is the founder and CEO of Planet Hollywood, Chairman of the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, and host of Robert Earl's Be My Guest television program which airs weekly on the Cooking Channel.
Robert Earl was born Robert Ian Leigh, son of British entertainer Robert Earl. Earl grew up in Hendon and was educated at the local school, but also traveled around a great deal in the UK, Europe and the United States, following his father's career.
Earl graduated from the University of Surrey with an honors degree in Hotel and Catering Management. In 2012 he set up the Robert Earl Scholarship, awarded each year to 14 students across the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, worth up to £2,500 each.
Earl was named one of the "The 25 Most Influential Americans" by Time Magazine.
Earl began his career with his first Beefeater-themed restaurant.
In 1977, Earl founded President Entertainment, a company specializing in theme restaurants, in London. Earl quickly grew the business into a restaurant empire totaling 70 restaurants by the time he merged his company President Entertainment with Pleasurama PLC, a London-based leisure group, in 1987. The transaction yielded Earl $63 million.
Robert Earl Keen (born January 11, 1956) is an American singer-songwriter and entertainer living in the central Texas hill country. Debuting with 1984's No Kinda Dancer, the Houston native has recorded 18 full-length albums for both independent and major record labels, while his songs have also been covered by several different artists from the country, folk and Texas country music scenes (including George Strait, Joe Ely, Lyle Lovett, The Highwaymen, Nanci Griffith, and the Dixie Chicks). Although both his albums and live performances span many different styles, from folk, country, and bluegrass to rock, he is most commonly affiliated with the Americana movements. Additionally, although Keen has toured extensively both nationally and internationally throughout his career, he has long been heralded as one of the Lone Star State's most popular and consistently acclaimed musical ambassadors, leading to his induction into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2012 along with Lovett and the late Townes Van Zandt.
Earl Thomas may refer to:
The name Robert is a Germanic given name, from Proto-Germanic *χrōþi- "fame" and *berχta- "bright". Compare Old Dutch Robrecht and Old High German Hrodebert (a compound of hruod "fame, glory" and berht "bright"). It is also in use as a surname.
After becoming widely used in Continental Europe it entered England in its Old French form Robert, where an Old English cognate form (Hrēodbēorht, Hrodberht, Hrēodbēorð, Hrœdbœrð, Hrœdberð) had existed before the Norman Conquest. The feminine version is Roberta. The Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish form is Roberto.
Similar to the name, Richard, "Robert" is also a common name in many Germanic languages, including English, German, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, and Icelandic. It can be used as a French, Hungarian, Finnish, and Estonian name as well.
Robert, and also the name Joseph, were in the top 10 most given boys' names in the US for 47 years, from 1925 to 1972.
In Italy during the Second World War, the form of the name, Roberto, briefly acquired a new meaning derived from, and referring to the Rome-Berlin-Tokyo Axis.
An earl /ɜːrl/ is a member of the nobility. The title is Anglo-Saxon, akin to the Scandinavian form jarl, and meant "chieftain", particularly a chieftain set to rule a territory in a king's stead. In Scandinavia, it became obsolete in the Middle Ages and was replaced with duke (hertig/hertug). In later medieval Britain, it became the equivalent of the continental count (in England in the earlier period, it was more akin to duke; in Scotland it assimilated the concept of mormaer). However, earlier in Scandinavia, jarl could also mean sovereign prince. For example, the rulers of several of the petty kingdoms of Norway had in fact the title of jarl and in many cases of no lesser power than their neighbours who had the title of king. Alternative names for the "Earl/Count" rank in the nobility structure are used in other countries, such as Hakushaku during the Japanese Imperial era.
In modern Britain, an earl is a member of the peerage, ranking below a marquess and above viscount. A feminine form of earl never developed; countess is used as the equivalent feminine title.

Keen begins with "Mariano," off his 1989 album West Textures, adding that it was one of his mother's favorite songs. He then treats us to his 2005 track, "Mr. Wolf and Mamabear," a song shrouded in so much mystery that one fan wrote him a dissertation explaining its meaning (Keen says the fan was wrong). Happy Holidays from Bob and Ruby to you! "What could I even say about Tom Petty? For starters, it's a pretty short list of musicians with such universal appeal. I mean, everybody loves Tom Petty, or at least nobody hates him. And while I've gladly shed the yoke of most baby boomer rock legends, Tom makes his way onto my turntable (or playlist, let's be real) with astonishing regularity. My favorite Petty period is the late 80s when he teamed up with Jeff Lynne, and in a nod to their fellow Wilbury, I did 'Christmas All Over Again' with a George Harrison vibe. I've loved this song since I first heard it during 'Home Alone 2' as a kid. I've loved Tom for at least as long, plus we share a middle name." ✌ RET Follow Robert on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/3S374ymk0ppI4PGlNV6jMZ ...

Joe Ely, Butch Hancock, Wayne Hancock, Robert Earl Keen, and Jo Carol Pierce provided and performed songs for the play Chippy, written by Jo Harvey Allen and Terry Allen on commission from the American Music Theater Festival in Philadelphia, where the show premiered in 1994. On this recording of the score, the singer/songwriters, backed by a Texas band featuring Lloyd Maines (Dobro, steel guitar, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, lap steel guitar), Richard Bowden (fiddle, mandolin), Glenn Fukunaga (bass), and Davis McLarty (drums), compete with each other to sound more like the successor to Hank Williams, cutting newly written traditional-sounding country tunes. Occasionally, Ely, Pierce, Jo Harvey Allen, and Barry Tubb recite bits of dialogue from the play, which seems to concern matters ...

"He is the sun in splendour; he is all our pride." Robert Devereux, Earl of Essex (the stepson of Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester and the son-in-law of Francis Walsingham), is the people's champion. He and Charles Howard were successful in capturing and sacking the Spanish seaport of Cadiz. The queen tells her secretary Robert Cecil, son of William Cecil, "I am not Gloriana without the magic of his mirror." Essex is given a great opportunity to rise in power by being made Lord Deputy of Ireland and quelling the uprising led by O'Neill, Earl of Tyrone, but he squanders his army, makes an inglorious truce with O'Neill, and returns to England without permission. After his unsuccessful uprising against the queen in London, he is executed. The old queen shines in her final address to Parliamen...
