Samuel "Mayday" Malone is a fictional character on the American television show Cheers, portrayed by Ted Danson. The central character of the series, Sam is a former relief pitcher for the Boston Red Sox Major League Baseball team; he works as the owner and bartender of the bar called "Cheers". He is a recovering alcoholic and a notorious womanizer. Although his celebrity status was short-lived, Sam retains that standing within the confines of Cheers, where he is beloved by the regular patrons. Throughout the show's first five seasons, Sam has an on-again, off-again relationship with bar waitress Diane Chambers (Shelley Long) until she leaves Boston for her writing aspirations at the end of the fifth season. In two subsequent seasons, Sam tries to seduce her replacement, Rebecca Howe (Kirstie Alley), but she consistently rejects his advances until they passionately embrace at the end of the eighth season. However since, Sam and Rebecca constantly turn each other down, especially when, toward the end of the series, she confronts him about his unhealthy lust toward women. In the series finale, while he comes into terms with his sexual addiction, Sam is briefly reunited with Diane, now an award-winning writer, after their six-year separation. They want to start a new relationship until their own paths convince them to end the newer relationship. At the show's last moments, Sam and his friends are happy with his decision to remain in Boston. Sam appears in just one episode of the spin-off Frasier where he ends his engagement to his fiancé Sheila (Téa Leoni), whom he meets at a group therapy meeting of sex addicts, for her affair with other men.

It broadcasts a mix of programming on topics including health, financial matters, local politics, and several syndicated talk radio programs. Most of the editorial positions held by the shows and their hosts are conservative in nature.

Syndicated programming on KSEV includes The Savage Nation. Local hosts featured on KSEV include Edd Hendee and Dan Patrick, a member of the Texas Senate (Texas Senate, District 7).
Patrick owns KSEV through his company, Patrick Broadcasting LP. He previously operated the station through a local marketing agreement with previous owner Liberman Broadcasting. 700 AM is a United States clear-channel frequency; WLW in Cincinnati, Ohio is the dominant Class A, 50,000 watt station. Samuel A. "Sam" Malone, Jr. (born 9 December 1970) is a former Cincinnati city councilmember, serving from 2003-2005. He gained national prominence when he was tried on domestic violence charges for disciplining his teenage son with a leather belt.
Malone grew up in the Cincinnati area, graduating from Western Hills High School. As a teenager, he constantly got into street fights until a local policeman mentored him. He served in the US Navy, trained in pugilism, and earned an associate's degree from Vincennes University.
He served as Cincinnati Council Member for two years. The negative press concerning the 2005 disclipine incident is believed to be a factor in his not being reelected. In 2007, he generated more controversy over a purchase of a $218,000 home on Lincoln Avenue from the city in 2005, despite being councilman at the time. The issue had since been resolved.
The then 11-year-old son of his then-fiancée called the police after an argument where he allegedly struck and choked her.
"The Show Where Sam Shows Up" is the 16th episode of the second season of the American sitcom Frasier. This episode originally aired on Tuesday, February 21, 1995, on NBC, intended as part of a February ratings sweep by the network. It features a central guest appearance of Ted Danson as Sam Malone, a recovering sex addict, bartender and ex-baseball player. In this episode Sam arrives to Seattle to see his old friend Frasier, and then is introduced to Frasier's family at a dinner in Frasier's home. During the visit, it's discovered that Sam was to get married to a woman named Sheila, who previously had a one-night stand with Frasier. Then Sam finds out about Sheila's dalliance with other men rather than with Frasier, much to Frasier's relief, which ends Sam's relationship with her. Danson's appearance in this episode has received mixed reviews, and the positive highlight about it is his interaction with the cast of Frasier.
Bartender and ex-baseball player Sam Malone (Ted Danson) from Cheers arrives in Seattle to see his psychiatrist friend Frasier Crane at the KACL-FM radio station, and then Frasier becomes very happy and overjoyed by his arrival. According to Sam, after the 1993 Cheers finale, "One for the Road", lives have changed since Frasier left Boston. Former bar manager of Cheers, Rebecca Howe, was dumped by her plumber husband Don Santry, who became rich after a successful plumbing invention, and then she settled her life back into the bar without intent to work there again. Bartender Woody Boyd and his wife, Kelly Gaines-Boyd, have a son, who is smarter than his parents. A bar regular patron and postman Cliff Clavin still lives with his mother, stops attending the bar, and has not left home after he read information about a flesh-eating bacteria.

And you can try to fight this all you want,
but I won't be there, I won't be there when you're all alone.
This new season, it brings with it signs of hope, hope.
Now you can't leave me, you can't leave me waiting all alone, all alone.
And I know, there is
Some place I can go
Where no one knows my name.
And I can still remember, you know I can still hear your voice, your voice.
Although your silence, your silence still rings so clear.
And do you think, and do you think I would call
just to hear you breathe, breathe, breathe, breathe?
You always knew, you always knew that just one word would dry up all my tears.
And I know there is
Some place I can go
Where no one knows my name, my name
Where no one knows my name
