Blood Brothers (1996 film)

Blood Brothers is a 1996 documentary film made by filmmaker Ernie Fritz (twice nominated for a Daytime Emmy as co-director of the TV show Martha Stewart Living ), that chronicles a brief reunion of Bruce Springsteen with The E Street Band in 1995. The film was nominated in 1997 for a Grammy for "Best Music Video - Long Form"

In 1989, Springsteen had decided that he wanted to explore working with a different set of musicians and he placed his long association with The E Street Band on indefinite hiatus. Between 1989 and 1995 - he recorded and toured with other musicians. In 1995, he decided to reconvene the E Street Band for a week of recording sessions as well as a couple of New York City promotional concert appearances. The recordings were to add a few new tracks to Springsteen's upcoming 1995 Greatest Hits release. After the brief reunion, Springsteen then went on his own way again. The next reunion was not until 1999's Reunion Tour and 2002's The Rising album.

Blood brother

Blood brother can refer to one of two things: a male related by future birth, or two or more men not related by birth who have sworn loyalty to each other. This is in modern times usually done in a ceremony, known as a blood oath, where having each person make a small cut, usually on a finger, hand or the forearm, and then the two cuts are pressed together and bound, the idea being that each person's blood now flows in the other participant's veins. In modern times, some gangs have also been rumored to make blood pacts. The process usually provides a participant with a heightened symbolic sense of attachment with another participant.

Örvar-Oddr's saga contains a notable account of blood brotherhood. The Norwegian warrior Örvar-Oddr felt a desire to test his fighting skills with the renowned Swedish warrior Hjalmar. Thus Örvar-Oddr sailed to Sweden with five ships and met Hjalmar, who had fifteen ships. Hjalmar could not accept such an uneven balance of strength and sent away ten of his own ships so that the forces would be even. The two warriors fought for two days with a lot of blood-letting and poetry, but it was a draw. Finally, they realized that they were equals and decided to become sworn brothers by letting their blood flow under a strand of turf raised by a spear. Then, the strand of turf was put back during oaths and incantations.

Fox Television Studios (FTVS) was formed in 1997 alongside its existing fellow corporate units, Twentieth Century Fox Television and Twentieth Television under executive David Grant. The studio was designed to house smaller production units starting with Greenblatt-Janollari Studio (G-JS). Greenblatt-Janollari started producing shows in the 1998-1999 season with 3 comedy series for ABC and CBS. While funded by Fox, G-JS was presented as "independent mini-studio". With Fox Entertainment Group holding a 20% stake in New Regency Production's parent corporation, Fox Studios formed a joint venture, Regency Television, by 2000 managed by Gail Berman. Another production unit formed was Fox Television Studios Productions (FTSP) under Lisa Berger. Early output by the individual units, or "pods" were FTSP's Son Of The Beach for FX, The Hughleys by G-JS and Regency had Malcolm In the Middle.
