Millets are out of tents and thousands are frantically trying to work out what a groundsheet is. This can only mean one thing - it's time for Bestival. Elton John and Snoop Lion top a great bill of live music, but this year the DJ lineup is unparalleled. Here are our five unmissable sets:
Eats Everything (Friday)
The big man from Bristol, Daniel Pearce's intricate basslines and
bouncy house grooves are simply unstoppable. Recent releases "The
Gettup" and "Lion, The Lion" are absolute thumpers, but expect the
roof to be completely blown off if he drops his remix of Adam F's
classic "Circles".
Joy Orbison (Friday)
It's easy to forget that his DJing skills more than lives up to
his billing as one of the UK's most talented producers. "BRTHDTT"
has been tearing up clubs up and down the country for months but
those in the know will be waiting for the extraordinary "Mercy",
crafted with partner in crime Boddika, who will be making an
appearance on Sunday.
Hudson Mohawke (Saturday)
It's been a busy year for Hudson Mohawke. Whether crafting
releases with Lunice under the TNGHT moniker or producing "I Am
God" for Kanye West, you should expect surprises from the
Glaswegian producer. Listen out for his remix of "Vista" by Jackson
& His Computer Band, an unreleased gem that Surkin dropped at
the end of his Boiler Room Paris set.
Ben UFO/Jackmaster/Oneman (Saturday and
Sunday)
The holy trinity of Ben UFO, Jackmaster and Oneman are something
of a rare breed - old school record collectors rather than
DJ/producers, these guys really are the finest selectors the UK
underground scene has to offer.
Bicep (Sunday)
Sunday night on the Red Bull stage looks unmissable. After
unmitigated darkness from the Swamp 81 crew but make sure you don't
miss Bicep. The Belfast house duo collaborated with Simian Mobile
Disco on "Sacrifice" to devastating effect earlier in the year, but
the anthemic "You with Ejeca" should provide a true hands in the
air moment.
