Blue Zone is concept used to identify a demographic and/or geographic area of the world where people live measurably longer lives, as described in Dan Buettner's book, "The Blue Zones: Lessons for Living Longer from people who lived the longest." The concept grew out of demographic work done by Gianni Pes and Michel Poulain, who identified Sardinia's Nuoro province as the region with the highest concentration of male centenarians. As the two men zeroed in on the cluster of villages with the highest longevity, they drew concentric blue circles on the map and began referring to the area inside the circle as the Blue Zone. Buettner identifies longevity hotspots in Okinawa, Japan; Sardinia, Italy; Nicoya, Costa Rica; Ikaria, Greece; and among the Seventh Day Adventists in Loma Linda, California, and offers an explanation, based on empirical data and first hand observations, as to why these populations live healthier and longer lives.

Five Blue Zones have been identified by Buettner:

Residents of the first three places produce a high rate of centenarians, suffer a fraction of the diseases that commonly kill people in other parts of the developed world, and enjoy more healthy years of life.

Don Omar (born William Omar Landrón Rivera; February 10, 1978 ), a Puerto Rican reggaeton singer-rapper and actor. He is sometimes referred to by his nickname El Rey (Spanish: "The King").

William Omar Landrón Rivera is the oldest son of William Landrón and Luz Antonia Rivera. He was raised in Santurce, a barrio in the Villa Palmeras area of San Juan, Puerto Rico. From an early age, he showed interest in the music of Vico C and Brewley MC.^{[citation needed]} During his youth, he became an active member of a Protestant church, Iglesia Evangélica Restauración en Cristo in Bayamón where he occasionally offered sermons. However, after four years, he left the church to dedicate himself to singing.

His first public performance in a night club was accompanied by disc jockey Eliel Lind Osorio. Afterwards he appeared regularly on compilation albums from popular DJs and producers including Luny Tunes, Noriega, and DJ Eric. He also worked as a backup singer for the duo Héctor & Tito. One of the members, Héctor Delgado, helped him produce his first solo album.

Dan Buettner (born 1960 in St. Paul, Minnesota) is an American explorer, educator, author, public speaker and co-producer of an Emmy Award-winning documentary who also holds three world records for endurance bicycling. He is the founder of the online Quest Network, Inc., which provides opportunities for students to interactively engage with explorers on expedition. In February 2007, an expedition led by Buettner to Nicoya, Costa Rica uncovered the longest-lived people known in the Western Hemisphere.

Raised by an adventurous father, Buettner's appreciation of travel was encouraged by a series of international trips he won as a teenager selling newspapers. His brothers Steve and Nick also followed in their father's footsteps.

After graduating from the College of St. Thomas in 1984, Buettner took a year to explore Spain before taking a job with National Public Radio in Washington, D.C. recruiting celebrity participation in a fund-raising croquet tournament with journalist George Plimpton.

The experience taught him a lot about the fundraising value of publicity, so he set off to achieve several world records, cycling thousands of miles on several continents. The first trip, called "Americastrek," covered 15,500 miles from Alaska to Argentina and was completed in 1987; the second, "Sovietrek," in 1990 covered 12,888 miles; the third, inspired by 1992's Los Angeles riots, was "Africatrek," covering 11,885 miles through Africa. Buettner has completed these treks in spite of suffering from Ménière's disease.

Lisa Stansfield (born 11 April 1966) is an English singer and songwriter.

Stansfield was born to Marion and Keith Stansfield in Heywood, Lancashire, in England, where she attended Redbrook School, Rochdale. Her first television appearance was on a talent programme in the Granada TV area in 1982. She won it singing The Human League track "The Things That Dreams Are Made Of". The series was produced by the then Head of Light Entertainment at Granada TV, Johnny Hamp.

After releasing several unsuccessful singles in her mid-teens, she co-hosted a children's TV pop show, Razzamatazz with Alistair Pirrie; additionally, Stansfield could be seen in 1983 children's television series The Krankies Klub, alongside comedian Jimmy Cricket and rock band Rocky Sharpe and the Replays. She also sung radio jingles for Manchester companies LBS and Alfasound - her voice being heard on packages for the short lived ILR station Sunset 102 and BBC GMR (Greater Manchester Radio).

After being signed by Arista, she became an international celebrity in the early 1990s.

Colin Patrick "Col" McPhillips (born 18 April 1975, Santa Monica, California) is an American professional longboard surfrider and three times ASP Longboard World Champion.

Colin was raised in San Clemente, California were his parents taught him how to surf at the age of 5. He started out as a shortboarder, finishing fourth place in the 1992 United States Surfing Championship in Huntington Beach, California. As a longboarder, he was more successful, Duke Boyd mentioned in his book Legends of Surfing that his shortboard style ripping methods and dynamic power moves proved successful in longboard competitions. He soon won the NSSA National longboard Championship for San Clemente High School in 1992 & 1993. His brother Iain won the NSSA Explorer Men’s event in 1996.

Colin won his first professional title winning the US Open of Longboarding in 1994. In October 1999, He defeated Marcelo Freitas from Brazil at One Mile Point, Australia to win his first ASP World Tour title. In 2000 he finished 3rd, but came back to win 2 world titles in a row by defeating local surfer Jason Ribbink in the final at J-Bay, South Africa in 2001 and in August 2002, he defeated Hawaiian Bonga Perkins to retain the world title at Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. In the same year he took the Professional Surfing Tour of America Championship. In 2007, he reclaimed the US Open of Longboarding title by defeating Taylor Jensen in the final. In 2009, he was nominated "O.C. Surfers of the Year".
