Jorge Drexler

Jorge Drexler (born Jorge Abner Drexler Prada; September 21, 1964) is a Uruguayan musician, actor. He is a doctor specialized in otolaryngology.

In 2004, Drexler won wide acclaim after becoming the first Uruguayan ever to win an Academy Award. He won for composing the song "Al Otro Lado del Río" from The Motorcycle Diaries.

Early life

Drexler was born in Montevideo. In 1939 his father, a German Jew, fled to Uruguay with his family at the age of four to escape the Holocaust. His family also fled to Bolivia and lived there. At the time only Bolivia among South American countries was widely open to Jewish immigrants. And over six decades later as his gratitude to Bolivia he made a song, which is included in Bailar en la Cueva. His mother is a Christian of mixed Spanish, French, and Portuguese descent. Drexler was raised Jewish, but does not follow any organized religions.

Like much of his family, he studied medicine and became an otolaryngologist—an ear, nose and throat specialist. Drexler began playing piano at age five, before attending guitar and composition classes. Although he had an interest in music, he became a doctor like both of his parents. He attended medical school in Montevideo. During his time in medical school, Drexler took a break to hitchhike through Brazil. He also studied music and recorded two albums, which were only released in Uruguay.

Final Destination

Final Destination is an American horror franchise that comprises 5 films, comic books and novels based on an unproduced spec script by Jeffrey Reddick, originally written for the X-Files television series. Distributed by New Line Cinema, all five films center around a protagonist that has a premonition of a terrible accident that will kill numerous people. The protagonist and several other people manage to escape from the scene of the accident, before it happens, but are later killed in a series of bizarre accidents that frequently resemble Rube Goldberg machines in their complexity.

The series is noteworthy amongst others in the horror genre in that the "villain" of the movies is not the stereotypical slashers, monsters, aliens, or demons, but Death itself (very occasionally seen as a fleeting shadow), which manipulates the environment with the intent of reclaiming those who managed to escape their fates. With a formidable amount of detail in accident scenes and death scenes, the film series, unlike the vast majority of horror genre films using assassins, monsters or ghosts as enemies, also contradicts others when some of the main characters do not survive after the "adventure".

Super Smash Bros. Melee

Super Smash Bros. Melee (Japanese: 大乱闘(だいらんとう)スマッシュブラザーズDX(デラックス), Hepburn: Dairantō Sumasshu Burazāzu Derakkusu, "Great Melee Smash Brothers DX", with "DX" pronounced as "deluxe") is a crossover fighting game released for the GameCube, released in Japan in November 2001, with other territories later. It is the second game in the Super Smash Bros. series, following the first game. HAL Laboratory developed the game, with Masahiro Sakurai as head of production.

The game features characters from Nintendo video game franchises such as Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Star Fox, and Pokémon. Melee includes all playable characters from the first game in the series on the Nintendo 64, but it also adds new characters from franchises such as Fire Emblem, of which no games had been released outside Japan at the time. The stages and gameplay modes make references to, or take their designs from, popular games released by Nintendo.Melee's gameplay system offers an unorthodox approach to the fighting game genre with a counter that measures damage with percentages, rather than the health bar seen in most fighting games. It builds on the first game by adding new gameplay features and playable characters. Following the popularity of its multiplayer gameplay, Melee has been featured in many competitive gaming tournaments, and is still one of the most popular fighting games for competitive play.

Final Destination (album)

Final Destination is the debut studio album by Japanese rock band coldrain, released on October 28, 2009. Although coldrain demonstrates heavy elements in the instruments, the acoustic guitar has been incorporated in the songs "Survive" and "8AM".

The City of Your Final Destination

The City of Your Final Destination is a 2009 American drama film directed by James Ivory and starring, Anthony Hopkins, Laura Linney, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Omar Metwally and Norma Aleandro. It was written by Ruth Prawer Jhabvala and based on the eponymous novel by Peter Cameron.

The film is the first Merchant Ivory film without producer Ismail Merchant and composer Richard Robbins.

Synopsis

The film follows a graduate student, Omar Razaghi (Omar Metwally), who wishes to write a biography on an obscure writer, Jules Gund, who died years before. Omar must travel to Uruguay to persuade the Gund family to authorize the biography.
