A team of police negotiators convinced an Uzbek woman to turn herself in to authorities 13 hours after she walked into the the Dubai Public Prosecution premises on Sunday and threatened to blow herself up using an explosive belt.
Police were able to safely remove the belt from the woman, which was found to not contain any explosives.
The woman, who was accompanied by her child, threatened action if she didn't receive help that put an end to a personal dispute over proving fatherhood of her child, the Government of Dubai Media Office said in a statement.
The statement said that Dubai Police immediately evacuated the building and the surrounding area "taking all precautionary measures to secure the place and ensure the safety of all individuals who are in the vicinity of the building".
The woman had requested the attendance of her lawyer in an indication that the situation would end soon, the statement cited by news agency WAM also said.
