Entry: "8th of March, Bush Camp, Kenya The last bit before we enter Niarobi is 6 days of riding, of which the first 2 ½ days are dirt and then we hit the pavement again. The first day to the town Lasamis is 97km of corrugation, a general term for you can expect anything as long as it is bad stuff. It is not an easy day, a lot of people ride the truck, but I guess I am getting used to it. The campsite is just on the border of town, and when we the racers arrive the trucks are not there yet, they are stuck in the ditch just after lunch. Because of the heavy rain in the last few days in Northern Kenya there are some fairly deep rivers to cross, and the one after lunch is tricky, for the trucks and the riders; a few stories go around camp of people going head first and taking a swim. So we decide to check out the local meals and beers, a nice warm 'Tusker', the Kenyan number one beer. The campsite is fairly nice, a hill sloping into a dry river bed, and we also have a water pump to take a shower and rinse of the dust. I pinch my tent under a tree in the river bed, as most of the riders, but I get second thoughts when clouds start to form during dinner and the first raindrops fall. When we ask the locals they assure us that this river is always <b>...</b>
