Prospect Park's online reboot of "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" has managed to recapture the interest of many soap fans who had a vested interest in these cancelled ABC shows. Lately however, Prospect Park, the young production company behind the reboot has hit a few bumps in the road.
Yesterday, Deadline reported that AMC and OLTL will go on hiatus earlier than planned due to an ongoing labor dispute with IASTE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) local 52. The union has accused Prospect Park of going over $120,000 per episode budget. Because of the overages, the union employees would be entitled to higher pay according to IASTE. Prospect Park has denied the accusations stating they believe they have met the terms of the contract with Local 52.
In addition to the labor woes, Deadline and Michael Fairman have also reported that Prospect Park is considering relocating its studios from Stamford Connecticut to another location. Regardless of how this unfolds, the production company told Deadline it has 40 episodes for each show ready to air through September, so the planned work stoppage for both AMC and OLTL will begin 11 days earlier that the original June 17 start date. Prospect Park is hoping to resolve the labor dispute by August in order to maintain their production schedule.
What are your thoughts on the work stoppage and the possible relocation of "All My Children" and "One Life to Live?"
