The settlers were led by the radical Rabbi Yehuda Glick, who is the former head of the Temple Institute. He was accompanied by a journalist on Thursday who carried a camera to document the attack, while settlers reportedly engaged in verbal altercations with angry Muslim worshipers defending the mosque. Witnesses reported that Rabbi Glick returned to storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque twice on Friday, joined by groups of Jewish settlers whom he lectured to about the alleged Temple. The settlers have now become accustomed to storming the mosque regularly, usually touring around the yards starting from the Mughrabi Gate and then going to Al-Marwani Mosque, Rahma Gate, Al-Asbat Gate and King Faisal Gate until the Alqtanin Gate, exiting from Al-Selselah Gate. However, this is the first incident where the settlers have climbed the Dome of the Rock Mosque. The General Director of Muslim Endowments and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs, Sheikh Azzam Al-Khatib, has condemned the incident and described it as a provocative and dangerous step. Meanwhile, the Islamic-Christian Committee to support Jerusalem and its holy sites issued a press statement affirming that the incident represents "a flagrant violation against places of worship" and pointing out that the Israeli occupation authorities have almost completed their efforts to Judaise Al-Aqsa Mosque and its surroundings and are preparing to announce it as a Jewish synagogue. In related news, Israeli occupation forces arrested three young Palestinian men from inside Al-Aqsa Mosque on Thursday and took them to a police station in the occupied city of Jerusalem. Israeli settlers storm al-Aqsa Mosque
Dozens of extremist Israeli settlers have stormed the al-Aqsa Mosque in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) under army protection and raised Israel flag inside the mosque, which is the third holiest site in Islam, reports say. Local media reported that a group of 14 settlers raised an Israeli flag while touring the mosque's compound on Monday. Reports also said that after the incident, Israeli police closed Magharbe Gate that leads to al-Aqsa Mosque compound for visitors. Police forces are also said to have removed the settlers from the area. The latest incident comes after a similar event on September 18, when Israeli forces stormed the mosque compound, firing tear gas at Palestinian worshippers. Clashes reportedly broke out between the Israeli troops and the Palestinians after they attempted to prevent the worshippers, including women and children, from entering the mosque. In another similar incident earlier in September, the Israeli military used stun grenades to disperse Palestinian protesters inside the al-Aqsa compound after Friday Prayers, arresting 15 of them. The al-Aqsa compound, which lies in the Israeli-occupied Old City of al-Quds, is a flashpoint. The compound, known to Jews as the Temple Mount, is the holiest site in Judaism. It is Islam's third-holiest site after Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.- published: 14 Oct 2013

Clashes erupt as Israeli settlers storm al Aqsa mosque
Jewish right wing settlers broke into al-Aqsa mosque compound in order to perform their religious prayers. Clashes broke out between Palestinians and Israeli forces as Palestinians attempted to defend their mosque. Three Muslim women were injured when Israeli forces stormed the mosque compound and attacked them using tear gas and pepper spray. Following the incident, Israeli authorities closed al Aqsa for Muslim worshippers below the age of 50. The Secretary General of Islamic and Christian society stated that the continued violence from the settlers is consistently supported by the Israeli army and authorities, in an attempt to take over the mosque and turn it into a synagogue. Around 40 settlers along with Jewish American tourists broke into al-Aqsa mosque via Bab El-Magharbeh (Dung Gate) and roamed the compound under the protection of the Israeli army. According to witnesses, they performed deliberate acts of disrespect including dancing and drinking with no regards of the sanctity of the mosque. Officials from al Aqsa mosque have called upon all Arab groups to defend their sacred mosque. Palestinians are now expecting more violence near al-NBAqsa as Jewish extremists have threatened that they are planning to make more visits to the mosque for their Jewish holiday Rosh Hashanah. Extremist Israeli settlers storm al-Aqsa Mosque
Dozens of extremist Israeli settlers have desecrated the al-Aqsa Mosque in East al-Quds (Jerusalem), which is the third holiest site in Islam, when they stormed the mosque through Bab el-Magharbeh. Reports say the settlers were led by the extremist Rabbi Yehuda Glick who heads the so-called Temple Mount Heritage Foundation. The Sunday incident comes after a similar event on October 15, when a number of Israeli settlers stormed the mosque under army protection. Meanwhile, a report published by the al-Aqsa Foundation in October, said the Israeli regime is planning to build a synagogue in al-Aqsa Mosque compound as part of its efforts to further Judaize the occupied Palestinian territories. According to the report, which was based on the information leaked from the Israeli Knesset, the plan would divide the compound, taking one-fifth for the Jews in order for them to perform their religious rituals there. On October 19, Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh condemned Israel's efforts to judaize al-Quds and the al-Aqsa Mosque. Haniyeh also slammed Israel's expansionist policies and the regime's crimes against the Palestinian nation, saying the liberation of Palestine is a national duty. He called on all Palestinians to act against the expansionist measures of the Tel Aviv regime across the occupied territories, particularly in al-Quds. Over the past decades, Israel has tried to change demographic makeup of al-Quds by constructing illegal settlements, destroying historical sites, and expelling the local Palestinian population. Over half a million Israelis live in over 120 settlements built since the 1967 Israeli occupation of the West Bank and East al-Quds. The international community considers the settlements illegal.- published: 24 Nov 2013

Dozens of settlers break into al Aqsa Mosque
Palestinians protested against a large group of American Tourists and Israeli Settlers breaking into the al Aqsa mosque compound. The extreme Jewish Political Party alongside Rabbi's organized a tour for around 50 settlers and American Jewish tourists under the protection of the Israeli army. The Palestinians name them the 'Provocative Tours' and state that they are organized in order to teach tourists a false history of the area and to claim al Aqsa as the Jewish Temple Mount. Hanna Issa explained that israelis are escalating these violations of al Aqsa mosque compound in a last ditch attempt to re-build Temple Mount, which they claim lies beneath the compound. However, following heavy excavations of the area, they have still not found a single trace of evidence. Sheikh Ibrahim continued to state that the violations of al Aqsa are becoming increasingly more dangerous, as they are now being organized by high profile Israeli politicians instead of extreme individuals, as the Israeli authorities are attempting to change the status quo of Jerusalem al Quds. Officials in al-Aqsa say these provocative tours are not only increasing but are being endorsed by the Israeli Knesset. They are calling for urgent intervention and campaigns by international groups to protect Al-Aqsa.- published: 10 Oct 2013

A report has been leaked from the Israeli Knesset by the Al-Aqsa Foundation, stating that Tel Aviv has new plans to construct a synagogue in the Al-Aqsa compound. Israel troops attack al-Aqsa Mosque, clashes ensue
Clashes have erupted between Palestinian worshippers and Israeli soldiers at the al-Aqsa Mosque in the West Bank city of East al-Quds (Jerusalem). The clashes broke out when Israeli forces stormed the holy site in East al-Quds during this week's Friday prayers. Israeli soldiers fired rubber bullets and stun grenades at the people who were praying at the mosque. At least 20 people, including children, were wounded in the violence. Eyewitnesses said Israeli forces also beat a number of women and arrested several Palestinians -- being mostly youths. The clashes came less than a month after Israeli Minister of Housing and Construction Uri Ariel said Tel Aviv plans to replace the al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in the Muslim world, with a temple. The remark infuriated Palestinians, who condemned the plan as desecration and part of the Israeli regime's ongoing attempts to Judaize the al-Aqsa Mosque and East al-Quds. Over the past decades, Israel has tried to change demographic makeup of al-Quds by constructing illegal settlements, destroying historical sites, and expelling the local Palestinian population. Over half a million Israelis live in more than 120 settlements built since the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, including East al-Quds, during the Six War of 1967.
