Backyard Babies are a rock band, from Nässjö, Sweden. The band was formed in 1987 and over the years they have released five studio albums and won a Swedish Grammy. The band is now located in Stockholm, Sweden.
They are largely attributed with popularizing sleaze rock in Scandinavia and Sweden, inspiring a scene that continues to grow today. They are a big influence on the current upsurge in sleaze rock in the UK unsigned scene. Their single "Minus Celsius" appears as a playable bonus track in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock and "Degenerated" is available as a downloadable song for Guitar Hero World Tour.
Formed in 1987, Backyard Babies originally consisted of singer/bassist Tobbe (Tobias Fischer), guitarist Dregen, guitarist Johan Blomqvist, and drummer Peder Carlsson. They were then called Tyrant and played several live shows in their local area and recorded a rough demo. Tobbe was soon replaced by frontman Nicke Borg on vocals and guitar, and Blomqvist switched to bass. Fischer went on to be a professional photographer and web designer in Stockholm, continuing to work occasionally with his old bandmates in Backyard Babies. They changed their name to Backyard Babies and recorded two more demos and did a national tour of Sweden. The band self-released a debut EP titled Something to Swallow. This got them signed in 1993 by Swedish label Megarock Records.
Niklas Roger "Nicke" Borg, born April 3, 1973 in Nässjö, is a Swedish singer and guitarist in the Backyard Babies.
While the Backyard Babies are taking a break, he works on his solo project Homeland. Homeland has released an EP, "Chapter 1" and one full length album called "Chapter 2". "Chapter 2" will be released at some point in 2012.
Nicke Borg got his own radio show on radio station Bandit Rock. His radio show broadcasts from 22:00 to 00:00 every Thursday.
Nicke Borg participated in Melodifestivalen 2011 in the race in Malmö where he went on to number two with premium Leaving Home to the final in Globen.
Shirley Natasja Clamp, (born 17 February 1973 in Borås, Sweden) is a Swedish pop singer. Because her mother is Swedish and her father is British, Shirley has dual nationality. Her career began as a backing singer for various singers and groups, including Antique during their Eurovision Song Contest 2001 performance to name one.
She started her solo career in 2003, when she took part in Melodifestivalen 2003 with the song "Mr. Memory". Finishing in 6th place in her semifinal, she lost the chance to qualify for the final. Her big breakthrough came in Melodifestivalen 2004 with the song "Min kärlek" (My love) composed by Ingela "Pling" Forsman. She came fourth in the last semifinal and went on to take second place at Andra Chansen, the "second chance" semifinal, thus qualifying for the final. There she was the first artist on stage, and ended 2nd, behind Lena Philipsson's immensely popular winner, "Det gör ont". "Min kärlek" won the National Finals Song Contest. A little later, in May 2004, Shirley released her first studio album, Den långsamma blomman (The Slow Flower).
