Mission at Nuremberg: An American Army Chaplain and the Trial of the Nazis As the war in Germany ended, the trials of Lutheran minister Henry Gerecke were just beginning. Gerecke was a small town minister who, at age 50, volunteered his spiritual support to the U.S. Army during World War II. Gerecke’s most challenging assignment was to provide religious services to the twenty-one Nazi prisoners awaiting their day of justice in front of a military tribunal for crimes against humanity. The U.S. Army asked Gerecke to pray with and give religious guidance to the disciples of Hitler, even after he had personally seen the horrors of the German concentration camps. Gerecke came away from the ordeal with a new understanding of morality, sin, empathy, and the limits of forgiveness. Mr. Tim To...
Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014: Tim Townsend, Author of Mission at Nuremberg Tim Townsend will speak to Marc Bernier about the remarkable life of Lutheran minister Henry Gerecke, who in 1943 at the age of 50 enlisted as an Army chaplain. At the war’s end, Gerecke was recruited for the most difficult job of his life: ministering to 21 Nazis leaders awaiting trial at Nuremberg. In this tutorial Tim Vigil (Faust: Love of the Damned) shows you how to draw and ink in a comic book style. This is the full version (including the inking portion) of the previously posted drawing video. We decided after "testing the waters" to go ahead and offer the complete video here for everyone's viewing (and perhaps learning) pleasure. We hope you enjoy it! By the way, I try to reply to all of the comments posted here, but Hotmail sends all of the YouTube notifications into my junk mail folder, so sometimes it's months before I realize someone has even asked a question here. Please forgive me if it takes awhile to respond, as I don't log into YouTube very frequently. Tim really appreciates all of the comments and questions and support! 100 years after Walter Harper first touched its summit, Tim Townsend reached the frozen top of Denali (Mt. McKinley), the highest point in the U.S. - and it only took five tries! It marked the completion of a two-decade journey to the highest points of all 50 U.S. states. Tim and his wife Lisa's hikes to the other 49 states are covered, as is some Denali centennial history, but most of the footage is from Tim and climbing partner Andy Howell's 2013 expedition.
