1955 Classic Ealing Comedy The Ladykillers : Railway Tunnel Location
With Peter Sellers, Alec Guinness, Cecil Parker, Herbert Lom. The location shown in the video is the "back" of Mrs Wilberforce's house, this is where the railway disappears into the tunnel. This allows the bodies of the criminals to be got rid of by dropping them into passing railway gravel wagons. Many scenes of railway activity was filmed from this location however most of the dramatic action was filmed in a studio. The front of the house was of course in Argyll Street, St Pancras several miles away. (Sorry the video is poor with too fast camera movement..) The best way to access this is via Vale Royal off the York Rd. In the film you see many train movements and even today this is true though they are no longer steam trains. The gantry which deals the final blow to the last robber is not the same of course. The main decorative feature of the railway tunnel entrance are the two turrets , in the film however these have a different shape showing that a studio mock-up was used instead.

1955 Ealing Comedy Ladykillers Movie Location : Argyll Street St Pancras
The actual house located here was not used but just it's position, filming was done as though the camera was looking out of the door of the existing house. The location was chosen because the stunning tower of St Pancras Station was at the other end. The theoretical back of the house where all the action took place was a mile or two away near the railway tunnel between York Rd and Caledonian Rd (see my other video) Mrs Wilberforce's House is the white painted house in the very corner with the word Hotel above the door.

Save Ealing Cinema! No Film Comedy, We're Serious!
Wow - Ealing, Londoners & Film Lovers *are* serious! 3000+ signatures in 3 weeks - we could have 10000 in the New Year! ***Sign your support and pass it now! Let's show big business that PEOPLE COUNT! *** www.petitionbuzz.com Ealing & Film go together like Wimbledon & Tennis. From the long history of Ealing Studios which created the 'Ealing Comedies' and 100s of other classics to the Art Deco original Ealing Cinema where locals would flock to to get a taste of movie glamour, Ealing is still associated with amazing Cinema. It should rightly be the place for watching film. It hasn't been for a long time due to neglect, but it once was, and should be again. That's what we've been waiting for. That's what Empire promised! Instead, big business (Empire) apparently wants to turn movie magic into a car park graveyard! I think they need to be much clearer instead of just changing things on the sly. If they're building a cinema, that' great - still no official word apart from a brief conversation with a journalist. We've been patient, we've seen the once glorious Art Deco theatre slowly crumble with neglect, but we still went to the movies. It's been torn down to little more than a pile of rubble and we're waiting, for the cinema that was promised. Whether you live here or not, if you've ever enjoyed watching a British Ealing Comedy or new classics that Ealing is still churning out - please sign this petition and help us to keep our movie film magic in Ealing. Don't let Empire get ...

Kermode Uncut - A Very British Serial Killer
This week the classic Ealing comedy Kind Hearts and Coronets is re- released in UK cinemas. This brilliant black comedy about a serial killer is 60 years old but is still just as edgy and outrageous as the day it was made.

Welcome to London! Passive/Aggressive capital of the world!
A place of culture. A place of excitement. A place of urine-soaked streets and questionable foreign cuisine.
Are you feeling lost? Reeling from the incessant instructions to 'stand to the right' and 'mind the gap'? Wondering how to get by in a city that seems to hate you? Then follow Vincent Mahoney as he takes you on a journey, showing you the what's what, the where's where, the who's who and the when's which of London.
