Vicar Street is a concert, performing arts centre and events venue in Dublin, Ireland. Located on Thomas Street, Dublin 8, Vicar Street has capacity for 1,050 people for seated performances and 1,500 people for standing gigs. The venue is owned by Harry Crosbie and operated by Peter Aiken. Since opening in 1998, the venue has become a popular setting for a wide range of acts including stand-up comedy, drama performances and a variety of concerts. The first artist to play on the Vicar Street Stage was local singer/songwriter Shay Cotter. Major international recording artists have performed in Vicar Street (such as Bob Dylan in 2000 , Neil Young in 2003 and Paul Simon in 2011).
Because of its intimate size, the venue is one looked on with warmth by fans and acts alike .
The longest-running show to take place in Vicar Street was Tommy Tiernan's Loose show with a string of 166 performances .
Vicar Street hosts the Choice Music Prize ceremony in February/March each year. Occasionally the venue is used to accommodate higher attendances than expected at smaller venues. In 2008, Canadian indie rock band Wolf Parade's November show which had been scheduled for Andrew's Lane Theatre was moved to Vicar Street.

Henry Rollins (born 13 February 1961) is an American spoken word artist, writer, journalist, publisher, actor, comedian, radio DJ, activist and formerly singer-songwriter.
After performing for the short-lived Washington D.C.-based band State of Alert in 1980, Rollins fronted the California hardcore punk band Black Flag from August 1981 until mid-1986. Following the band's breakup, Rollins established the record label and publishing company 2.13.61 to release his spoken word albums, as well as forming the Rollins Band, which toured with a number of lineups from 1987 until 2003, and during 2006.
Since Black Flag disbanded, Rollins has hosted numerous radio shows, such as Harmony in My Head on Indie 103, and television shows such as The Henry Rollins Show, MTV's 120 Minutes, and Jackass. He had a recurring dramatic role in the second season of Sons of Anarchy and has also had roles in several films. Rollins has also campaigned for various political causes in the United States, including promoting LGBT rights, World Hunger Relief, and an end to war in particular, and tours overseas with the United Service Organizations to entertain American troops.

Wells Cathedral
(1175 to 1490)
The Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew, commonly known as Wells Cathedral, is a Church of England cathedral in Wells, Somerset. The cathedral is dedicated to St Andrew the Apostle and is the seat of the Bishop of Bath and Wells. As with other cathedrals, it is the mother church of the diocese and contains the bishop's throne
Penniless Porch, Wells
is an entrance gateway into a walled precinct, the Liberty of St Andrew, which encloses the twelfth century Cathedral, the Bishop's Palace, Vicar's Close and the residences of the clergy who serve the cathedral.
The Penniless Porch was built around 1450, by Bishop Thomas Beckington (also spelt Beckyngton) and bears his rebus or badge on the cathedral side. It forms one of a pair with The Bishop's Eye which formed the gateway into the Bishop's palace from the market place.
It was named for the beggars who plied their trade there.
It is a three-storey building of Doulting ashlar stone, with lead roof and has been designated as a Grade I listed building
Bishop's Palace
The Bishop's Palace and accompanying Bishops House at Wells in the English county of Somerset, is adjacent to Wells Cathedral and has been the home of the Bishops of the Diocese of Bath and Wells for 800 years. It has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building.
Building of the palace started around 1210 by Bishops Jocelin of Wells and Reginald Fitz Jocelin. The chapel and great hall were added by Bishop Robert Burnell between 1275 and 1292. The walls, gatehouse and moat were added in the 14th century by Bishop Ralph of Shrewsbury. The Bishops House was added in the 15th century by Bishop Thomas Beckington. The great hall later fell into disrepair and was partially demolished around 1830.
The palace was originally surrounded by a medieval deer park. When the walls were built, streams were diverted to form the moat as a reservoir. In the 1820s, the grounds within the walls were planted and laid out as pleasure grounds by Bishop George Law, who created a reflecting pond near the springs. Parts of the buildings are still used as a residence by the current bishop, however much of the palace is now used for public functions and as a tourist attraction. http://www.bishopspalace.org.uk/
Glastonbury Abbey
Glastonbury Abbey was a monastery in Glastonbury, Somerset, England. The ruins are now a grade I listed building, and a Scheduled Ancient Monument and are open as a visitor attraction.
The abbey was founded in the 7th century and enlarged in the 10th, before a major fire in 1184 destroyed the buildings. It was rebuilt and by the 14th century was one of the richest and most powerful monasteries in England. The abbey also controlled large tracts of surrounding land and was instrumental in major drainage projects on the Somerset Levels. The abbey was suppressed during the Dissolution of the Monasteries under King Henry VIII of England. Vicars' Close
Vicars' Close, in Wells, Somerset, England, is claimed to be the oldest purely residential street with original buildings surviving intact in Europe. It comprises numerous Grade I listed buildings, comprising 27 residences (originally 44)
Wells Cathedral
(1175 to 1490)
The Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew, commonly known as Wells Cathedral, is a Church of England cathedral in Wells, Somerset. The cathedral is dedicated to St Andrew the Apostle and is the seat of the Bishop of Bath and Wells. As with other cathedrals, it is the mother church of the diocese and contains the bishop's throne
Penniless Porch, Wells
is an entrance gateway into a walled precinct, the Liberty of St Andrew, which encloses the twelfth century Cathedral, the Bishop's Palace, Vicar's Close and the residences of the clergy who serve the cathedral.
The Penniless Porch was built around 1450, by Bishop Thomas Beckington (also spelt Beckyngton) and bears his rebus or badge on the cathedral side. It forms one of a pair with The Bishop's Eye which formed the gateway into the Bishop's palace from the market place.
It was named for the beggars who plied their trade there.
It is a three-storey building of Doulting ashlar stone, with lead roof and has been designated as a Grade I listed building
Bishop's Palace
The Bishop's Palace and accompanying Bishops House at Wells in the English county of Somerset, is adjacent to Wells Cathedral and has been the home of the Bishops of the Diocese of Bath and Wells for 800 years. It has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building.
Building of the palace started around 1210 by Bishops Jocelin of Wells and Reginald Fitz Jocelin. The chapel and great hall were added by Bishop Robert Burnell between 1275 and 1292. The walls, gatehouse and moat were added in the 14th century by Bishop Ralph of Shrewsbury. The Bishops House was added in the 15th century by Bishop Thomas Beckington. The great hall later fell into disrepair and was partially demolished around 1830.
The palace was originally surrounded by a medieval deer park. When the walls were built, streams were diverted to form the moat as a reservoir. In the 1820s, the grounds within the walls were planted and laid out as pleasure grounds by Bishop George Law, who created a reflecting pond near the springs. Parts of the buildings are still used as a residence by the current bishop, however much of the palace is now used for public functions and as a tourist attraction. http://www.bishopspalace.org.uk/
Glastonbury Abbey
Glastonbury Abbey was a monastery in Glastonbury, Somerset, England. The ruins are now a grade I listed building, and a Scheduled Ancient Monument and are open as a visitor attraction.
The abbey was founded in the 7th century and enlarged in the 10th, before a major fire in 1184 destroyed the buildings. It was rebuilt and by the 14th century was one of the richest and most powerful monasteries in England. The abbey also controlled large tracts of surrounding land and was instrumental in major drainage projects on the Somerset Levels. The abbey was suppressed during the Dissolution of the Monasteries under King Henry VIII of England. We have been together for over three years; in that time a lot has happened and 2013 brought wonderful opportunities to play venues such as Vicar Street, The Roisin Dubh, The Unitarian Church, as well a number of major Irish summer festivals; Knockanstockan, Castlepalooza and Electric Picnic.
Meltybrains? live shows have always been an integral part of our appeal. 'The live sensation......Meltybrains? are fast becoming one of the most dearly-loved bands on the Irish music Scene' - Harmless Noise.
With this in mind that we have become even more adventurous and ambitious. In January 2014, we plan to do our first run of American shows, preceded and followed by a number of Irish shows. We feel this is an essential step in the right direction, taking our live show to a wider audience around Ireland & to America.
We want to make it clear that you are certainly not helping fund a holiday. Those of you who know us know how seriously we take our music and our performance. The reason for this tour is to work our asses off, to help establish Meltybrains? with a wider audience and to progress as a band. We aim to come back home to play for you all better than ever before!
Therefore, we need your help. We love all of our fans. We like to make that known as often as possible - and we are now asking for your help. We have already booked our flights to America and back. Also, we are fortunate in that we have friends in America, and around Ireland, who have graciously offered to put us up for the time that we are on tour.
The purpose of this fund it is to help to make this tour possible. Some of the expenses for the tour are also long term expenses for the band, such as a DI rack, microphones, a guitar amp and cables. Costs, such as gear rental, promotional materials (including posters, masks & paint, T-shirts.), venue costs (hiring sound engineers), travel expenses, all add up.

My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this "calling" in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, "glide" over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and "see" the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.

Footnote: Before most people had arrived, the organiser of the peace vigil (the lady holding the placard) agreed to be interviewed by me afterwards. She also agreed that I could film - at 0:55, you see that the others were also aware that I was filming from a respectful distance. Later the vicar arrived (he's in black with black hair). You can see him talking and shaking his head from 0:57 for about 45 seconds. Whilst he is talking, you see two other people turn around to look at me (at 01:15). Afterwards, the organiser refused to be interviewed, and just showed me a letter about this international peace vigil. A still of the letter appears at the end of the video. Just before that, at 05:09, you see her hand the letter to the vicar to read. Then she came over to me. What can it all mean, I wonder?
