Catch Everest

Catch Everest is a simple, clean and responsive WordPress theme which automatically adapts to the screen’s size, ensuring that your content is always displayed beautifully no matter what device visitors are using. It is based on HTML5 and CSS3. It comes with Catch Themes’ easy to use Theme Options panel, and thus is highly flexible and customizable. It shall help you make a beautiful, yet professional website in no time.

Installation using the Administration Panel

You can download Themes directly to your blog by using the Add New Themes option in the Appearance sub-menu.

  1. Log in to the WordPress Administration Panel
  2. Go to “Appearance =>Themes”, and then Install Themes
  3. Type “Catch Everest” in the search box and click on Search
  4. It will show the Catch Everest Thumbnail and details
  5. Finally, click on “Install Now” to install the theme

Manual Installation using FTP

To add a new Theme to your WordPress installation, follow these basic steps:

  1. Download Catch Everest from Catch Everest Theme page to your Desktop
  2. Unzip catch-everest.zip to your Desktop
  3. Using an FTP client to access your host web server, go to /wp-content/themes/ and make sure that you do not already have a Catch Everest folder installed
  4. If you do, then back it up and remove it from /wp-content/themes/ before uploading your copy of Catch Everest Theme
  5. Upload Catch Everest to /wp-content/themes/
  6. Activate Catch Everest through “Appearance => Themes” in your WordPress Dashboard

Always Set Featured Images

This theme relies heavily on Featured Images. If your post is missing a Featured Image, the post image will not show up on the homepage, on archived pages and Featured Post Slider. Read more about Featured Images

Regenerate Thumbnails

If you have just changed your theme then you need to regenerate image thumbnails for posts published before activating this theme. You can simply install Regenerate Thumbnails Plugin. Then Regenerate Thumbnails through “Tools => Regen. Thumbnails” in your WordPress Dashboard.

Widgets

Catch Everest currently has four widgetized areas that are Main Sidebar, Footer Area One, Footer Area Two and Footer Area Three. You can add a variety of Widgets to this theme by going to “Appearance => Widgets” in WordPress. We have added Catch Everest Social Widgets for Social Icons.

Menus

This theme supports “Custom Menus”. You can create Custom Menus through “Appearance => Menus” in your WordPress Dashboard. Don’t forget to select your Custom Menu as Primary Menu to display it as the main menu. Read More

Theme Options

You can customize this theme using the cool additional features through the “Appearance => Theme Options” in your WordPress Dashboard.

Responsive Design

Catch Everest is a responsive WordPress theme that automatically adapts to the screen’s size, ensuring that your content is always displayed beautifully no matter what device visitors are using. But if you don’t want the design to change as per the devices then you can disable the Responsive Design though “Appearance => Theme Options => Responsive Design” in your WordPress Dashboard.

Header Images / Logo

This theme supports Custom Header feature, which is a great way to change to Header image of your choice. Add yours by clicking “Appearance => Header”.

Backgrounds

Custom Background is another great feature of WordPress that is supported in Base. Add yours by clicking “Appearance => Background”.

How to Change Favicon Image?

  1. Go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Favicon” in your WordPress Dashboard
  2. Then Click on Change Favicon button
  3. Select the file you want to load
  4. Finally, click on Insert into Post and Save Changes

How to Disable Header Right Section?

  1. Go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Header Right Section” in your WordPress Dashboard
  2. Then check on Click to Disable box and save changes

How to Change the Text in Search Box?

  1. Go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Search Text Settings” in your WordPress Dashboard
  2. Then type in the text you want to have displayed in the search box and save changes

How to Change the Excerpt Length and More Tag Text?

  1. Go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Excerpt / More Tag settings” in your WordPress Dashboard
  2. Type in the number of words and more tag text
  3. Click on Save button

How to Redirect Feed to Feedburner / or any other URL?

  1. Go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Feed Redirect” in your WordPress Dashboard
  2. Add in the URL to which you want to redirect your feed
  3. Click on Save button

Sidebar Layout Options

Catch Everest has 3 Sidebar Layout Options to choose from: 1. Right Sidebar, 2. Left Sidebar and 3. No Sidebar. You can customize through “Appearance => Theme Options => Sidebar Layout Options” in your WordPress Dashboard. Further, you can select custom layout for individual pages and posts though Select Sidebar Layout meta box below the post and page editor.

Content Layout

Catch Everest also has Content Layout from which you can choose to display your blog / archives to show only excerpts or the full content exactly like it is in the post. You can customize through “Appearance => Theme Options => Sidebar Layout Options” in your WordPress Dashboard.

Custom CSS

This is a very cool feature we have in Catch Themes. Through this Custom CSS box, you can change the CSS without creating Child Theme. The custom CSS you add, shall overwrite the theme CSS for further design customization through “Appearance => Theme Options => Custom CSS” in your WordPress Dashboard.

Homepage Headline

This theme gives you an option to add headlines or announcements to show to your visitors. By default this Headline is shown with default text. You can either change Headline and Sub-headline text or disable it through “Appearance => Theme Options => Homepage Settings => Homepage Headline Options” in your WordPress Dashboard.

Homepage Featured Content Options

Homepage Featured Content options give you the ability to showcase your portfolio, photos, articles or services in your Homepage. By default the Featured Content displays default images and text. You can either change the content (images/text) or disable it though “Appearance => Theme Options => Homepage Settings => Homepage Featured Content Options” on your WordPress Dashboard.

How to Enable Latest Posts in Homepage?

  1. Go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Homepage Settings => Homepage / Frontpage Settings” in your WordPress Dashboard
  2. Check the Enable Latest Post box
  3. Click on Save button

How to Set Certain Categories to Display in Homepage / Frontpage?

  1. Go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Homepage Settings => Homepage / Frontpage Settings” in your WordPress Dashboard
  2. Select the categories you want
  3. You may select multiple categories by holding down the CTRL key
  4. Click on Save button

How to add static page/post instead of latest posts in Homepage?

  1. First follow the above instruction to enable the latest posts in Homepage
  2. Then in Homepage / Frontpage Settings, click on “Click here to set static front page instead of latest posts”
  3. This will take you to Reading Setting page, where you have to select the static page
  4. Then from the select post select the appropriate page or post that you want
  5. Click on Save Changes button

How to Add Featured Post Slider?

Currently this theme only support Posts in the Featured Slider. To add Featured Slider, follow these basic steps:

  1. Go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Featured Post Slider” in your WordPress Dashboard
  2. To add Posts in the slider, click on Slider Options and simply insert the ID numbers for posts in the boxes, one post ID number in each box
  3. To change the slider effects and timing, go to Slider Effect Options which is just below Slider Options
  4. Click on Save button

* When you add the Post IDs, make sure your posts have Featured Images
* If you are unable to find post IDs, please install Catch IDs Plugin to find the Post IDs

Social Media Icons

Catch Everest has custom social icons for various social networking sites. You can activate the social icons you want by adding in the respective Social Media Links through “Appearance => Theme Options => Social Links” in your WordPress Dashboard. After adding in the social links it will add social icon on the Header Right Section. You can also add the social links on your Sidebar using Catch Everest Social Widgets.

Webmaster Tools

Catch Everest supports Webmaster Tools and Scripts. You can verify your site in Google, Yahoo and Bing by adding in the IDs in the respective boxes through “Appearance => Theme Options => Webmaster Tools” in your WordPress Dashboard. Further, you can add in the Google Analytics. Adding scripts in Header and Footer does not require you to edit codes through Webmaster Tools.

How to insert Site Verification IDs?

  1. Go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Webmaster Tools => Site Verification” in your WordPress Dashboard
  2. Enter the Site Verification ID (Google, Yahoo, Bling) wherever you wish to verify your site
  3. Click on Save button

How to insert Analytics / Other scripts in Header / Footer?

  1. Go to “Appearance => Theme Options => Webmaster Tools => Header and Footer Codes” in your WordPress Dashboard
  2. Here you can put different scripts like, google, facebook etc
  3. Enter the script in upper text area, for text you want to load on Header
  4. Enter the script in lower text area, for text you want to load on Footer
  5. Click on Save button.
