“I Was Born When She Kissed Me”
Inspired by three lines of dialogue from the Humphrey Bogart 1950 classic, ‘In A Lonely Place’ is the surgical exploration of a classic era noir: a descent from glittering surface tension to sinister murky depth. As with all Tape Loop Orchestra releases, the theme is one of decay – a certain blurred focus disintegrating into fragile remembered phrases, echoing the "film’s dive from romantic optimism into malevolent violence.
“I Died When She Left Me”
In a textbook example of art mirroring life, the album’s script within a script reflects the tension and emotion of the film director Nicolas Ray was directing his then wife Gloria Grahame during the breakdown of their relationship. Recorded and edited by Andrew Hargreaves over three months on a modified 4-track and walkman loop, these three powerful and precise pieces from one side of a C90 are proudly brought to 180gm vinyl by Facture. Mastered in black and white widescreen by James Plotkin, the stunning packaging features heavy-duty gatefold and printed inner sleeves designed by Craig Tattersall, photography by Joe Borreson, A2 collage poster designed by Alice Clarke, cut out ACD Sleeve CD with inserts and a hand numbered 12 x 12 double sided heavy card stock print.
“I Lived A Few Weeks While She Loved Me”
Exclusive pre-orders will be made available soon for those on the Facture mailing list.

It's a Wonderful Face
A minute-long repurposing of one of the most famous freeze-frames (and one of the most infamous colorizations) in film history; or:
In 1987, Ginger Rogers testified before the Senate Subcommittee on Technology and the Law of the Committee on the Judiciary, which had convened to air the "legal issues that arise when color is added to films originally
produced, sold, and distributed in black and white." As part of her testimony, she read aloud a letter from James Stewart:
"In 'It's a Wonderful Life,' Gloria Grahame played a character named Violet, and whoever colorized the picture thought it would be cute to color all of Gloria's costumes in that same color—violet. Well, that's art direction after the fact, and an obvious kind of visual pun that Frank Capra never would have considered. [...] A certain actor friend of mine named Ronald Reagan is fond of saying, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it.' I agree with that kind of home-spun wisdom, and that's exactly what I'd like to say to anyone who wants to paint up my face like an Easter egg. Our black-and-white films ain't broke, and they don't need fixin'."

Out Of My Dreams!
Oklahoma! is the first musical written by composer Richard Rodgers and librettist Oscar Hammerstein II. The musical is based on Lynn Riggs' 1931 play, Green Grow the Lilacs. Set in Oklahoma Territory outside the town of Claremore in 1906, it tells the story of cowboy Curly McLain and his romance with farm girl Laurey Williams. A secondary romance concerns cowboy Will Parker and his flirtatious fiancée, Ado Annie, a friend of Laurey's.
The original Broadway production opened on March 31, 1943. It was a box-office smash and ran for an unprecedented 2,212 performances, later enjoying award-winning revivals, national tours, foreign productions and an Academy Award-winning 1955 film adaptation. It has long been a popular choice for school and community productions.
This musical, building on the innovations of the earlier Show Boat, epitomized the development of the "book musical", a musical play where the songs and dances are fully integrated into a well-made story with serious dramatic goals that is able to evoke genuine emotions other than laughter. In addition, Oklahoma! features musical themes, or motifs, that recur throughout the work to connect the music and story more closely than any musical ever had before. A special Pulitzer Prize was awarded to Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II for Oklahoma! in the category of "Special Awards And Citations - Letters" in 1944.
+++
Based on the 1943 musical play Oklahoma!, written by composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist/librettist Oscar Hammerstein II (see Rodgers and Hammerstein), was adapted into a musical film in 1955, starring Gordon MacRae, Shirley Jones (in her film debut), Rod Steiger, Charlotte Greenwood, Gloria Grahame, Gene Nelson, James Whitmore and Eddie Albert. The production was the first musical directed by Fred Zinnemann.[1] Oklahoma! was the first feature film photographed in the Todd-AO 70 mm widescreen process.
In 2007, Oklahoma! was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
The film won two Academy Awards and was nominated for two others. The wins came in Best Music, Scoring of a Musical Picture (for Robert Russell Bennett, Jay Blackton, and Adolph Deutsch) and Best Sound, Recording (Fred Hynes). Nominations came in the categories of Best Cinematography, Color (Robert Surtees) and Best Film Editing (for Gene Ruggiero and George Boemler).
