High School Confidential, Beat Poetess, "Tomorrow is a Drag" LBX
Philippa Fallon recites the greatest beat poem of them all from "High School Confidential." -1958. d. Jack Arnold. From letterboxed laserdisc.
That's Jackie "Uncle Fester" Coogan in the background on the ivories.
Transcription:
My Old man was a bread stasher all his life
He never got fat
He wound up with a used car, a 17 inch screen. Arthritis
Tomorrow is a drag, man
Tomorrow is a king sized bust
They cry put down pot Don't think a lot
For what?
Time, how Much and what to do with it
Sleep, man, and you might wake up digging the whole human race
Giving itself 3 days to get out
Tomorrow is a drag pops, the future is a flake
We cough blood on this earth
Now there's a race for space
We can cough blood on the moon, soon
Tomorrow is dragsville, cats
Tomorrow is king-sized drag
Tool a fast short
Swing with a gassy chick
Turn on to a 1000 joys
Smile on what happened, or check what's gonna happen
You'll miss what's happening
Turn your eyes inside and dig the vacuum
Tomorrow, Draaaaag

Tim Minchin's Storm the Animated Movie
In the confines of a London dinner party, comedian Tim Minchin argues with a hippy named Storm. While Storm herself may not be converted, audiences from London to LA have been won over by Tim's wordplay and the timely message of the film in a society where science and reason are portrayed as the enemy of belief.

LYRICS:
She wakes up and then starts her day
To a 9 to 5 job trying to get some pay
And even though, she has so much to say
Life doesn’t seem to treat her the right way
Then she leaves work and picks up the kids
Comes home and ends up cleaning the whole crib
The man in her life doesn’t know how to treat her
Creeping around on the low, he cheats her
Of honesty, so I wonder how he keeps her
Especially considering, that every night he beats her
Verbal abuse, now this girl can’t choose
Her world views, are skewed, what is the use
Of hoping and dreaming for a better life
Cause society told her she should be a better wife
And even though, she succumbs to the violence
Living in fear, her voice becomes silenced
OH, Ladies, Oh-no my ladies
Without your love, this world would go crazy
Through the years, we’ve been calling you baby
When we should’ve called you Queens
Maybe, it’s the conditioning of how we speak
But I now understand it’s okay to be weak
Take this as a message on behalf of all men
We will find the balance again.....
Now I”ll admit, it’s an easy thing for me to preach about it
It’s a whole nother' thing to actually be about it
I look at my past and how I treated women
Just a young boy lacking wisdom - huh
But I’m not pretending that I am perfect in any way
I’ve made mistakes, ego and lust have filled my days
Weak men, they just prey on weak women
So they feel powerful and don’t see the week in them
Using relationships to feel control
Of your insecurities, and the need to hold
On , to everything, in the physical
You can’t put conditions on love and then call it unconditional
The truth is, that maybe we both are the victims
Of a flawed misbalanced dogmatic system
I surrender to you, that, I will promise.
Nurture me back into life my Goddess
-Chorus-
I got you, please just trust I’ll protect
No more neglect, just love and respect
For 1000’s of years, men held you down
Diminished your power, took away your crown
And used their religion as a way to control you
Scold you, and show you, that they’re the ones that owned you
Used you, abused you, but now I choose to
Apologize for everything we did to you
We will make it right as we go into the future
My heart’s no longer frozen, I make love to Medusa
The body of a Shakti, shocks my chakras calmly
I could hear your music when I listen to your heartbeat
I could see your spirit when I look into your eyes
And this love thing, must’ve caught me by surprise
In the past, they would try to say “be a man”
When they really should’ve said, Love the best that you can
Cause a man’s power comes in his vulnerability
Not his strength physically, but his love spiritually
It’s not about the feminist. It’s not about the hedonist
It’s about honoring the yin-yang, as an equalist
It takes two wings for an eagle to fly
When the ground starts shaking, we should keep to the sky
Fathers, please love your daughters
Cause daughters turn to lovers, lovers turn to mothers
Mothers of sons who say...

Dancing Skin - Earthpeople Comedy Club, Berkeley, California May 10, 2003
I consider this representative or symbolic erotic rather than actual erotic. It is hard to generate actual erotic aroused energy in a live performance which is shorter than thirty minutes. And of course I always prefer actual erotic aroused energy!
Actually this was so erotic that it got me booked at the Harbin Hot Springs. Actually this video was so erotic that it freaked out the Harbin Powers that be when the guy who booked me showed them this video! They told him it was inappropriate, too erotic, that I could just read my poems... No nudity or erotic dancing! So I picked poems about censorship. But when we got to Harbin, there were nude bodies everywhere... And a lot of them were fucking in the bushes! It became obvious the problem wasn't nudity or eroticism, but my nude erotic disabled body. So as my poems were being read, backed up musicaly by a guy I met a hour ago, I danced with Linda and Kirstin nude erotically, as the MC turned beat red. Unfortunately they didn't allow us to video this or my much more explicit after hours performance which some people requested.

Lyrics:
I'm feelin awake, I'm feelin awake, I'm feelin awake.
Tell me!
Why do we discriminate? (why)
When we could all hold a valid conversation in the lights of
humanism and rights? (Talk it out)
Why do we all gotta hate?
Find a song we like one minute, diss a second later even though
it was pretty tight?
Love is a powerful thing,
So its through love that I have the power to sing.
No matter if you're white, black, brown, or blue,
We all wake up in the morning tieing up the same shoes.
It's a question that I bring?
could we meet on comon ground to have the strength to lend a hand
to take another under the wing.
we've got all got the same shoes,
cause Our children are strings
and We're bound to trip if it's comes loose (comin loose)
It's the future that's important,
Seems you ending up tall and coming up short
Seperating each other apart isn't gonna change course,
We need to find the love and *quit with the force*,
Heyyy O
Look what we've become
I said
Heyyy O
Look what we've done,
Heyyy O
It's nothing to some
But
Heyyy o
could ya listen for once?
Once,
To take the time to learn from our mistakes,
Put together the peices from all the broke plates
(Then maybe we could feed again)
No longer feel tribulated cause of the going rate.
Against a wall,
with No escape. (shut away)
And I know the pain will never be erased
but we can ease the pressure for our children in any case.
Provide a future where they can find a place.
Clothes, Food and shelter and *dont forget to educate*.
To you it seems impossible to start on a fresh slate.
You could pass infinate bills to try and fix the hate,
New laws, or decrees to make us all slaves to a bar code,
Tatoo'd or taboo'd it's still a trait.
It's the future that's important,
Seems you ending up tall and coming up short
Seperating each other apart isn't gonna change course,
We need to find the love and *quit with the force*,
Heyyy O
Look what we've become
I said
Heyyy O
Look what we've done,
Heyyy O
It's nothing to some
But
Heyyy o
could you listen for once?
Listen,
we accumulate alot of goods,
but can we honestly we say that we use it for good?
We've built anomalies, created more then just a sacrafice.
Towers that reach to the heavens in heights.
The only problem is you've got to get it for the right price...
The fact is we all want to have a taste of the life.
So with much adue and all due respect,
I see our people as greatness,
and Nothing less.
But (build it up)
We built it together for prosperity of each other,
The dollar cant provide a future
or the strength to be a father or mother,
So lift a child up, put them first,
doesn't matter your color to discover that we can recover
from this thirst
It's the future that's important,
Seems you ending up tall and coming up short
Seperating each other apart isn't gonna change course,
We need to find the love and quit with the force,
Heyyy O
Look what we've become
I said
Heyyy O
Look what we've done,
Heyyy O
It's nothing to some
But
Heyyy o
Could you listen for once?
The human being is a powerful creature.
We have stood threw any weather, any storm, any day, any year.
and I'm not trying to be a preacher,
I'm just tired of living fear.
Fear that our children might not understand....
Understand a purpose for being here.
I wrote the lyrics, including the chorus. I am one of the harmonies in the chorus. This is an original lyrical production. Thank you to the beat maker!
