Syfy (formerly Sci-Fi and then Sci-Fi Channel), is an American cable television channel featuring science fiction, supernatural, fantasy, reality, paranormal, wrestling, and horror programming. Launched on September 24, 1992, it is part of the entertainment conglomerate NBCUniversal, a subsidiary of Comcast and General Electric. The name Syfy was officially adopted on July 7, 2009.
The Sci-Fi Channel was devised in 1991 by Mitchell Rubenstein and Laurie Silvers, two entrepreneurs from Boca Raton, Florida, who currently own HomeTown Cable in Miami-South Florida. In March 1992 the concept was picked up by USA Networks, then a joint venture between Paramount Pictures and Universal Studios. The channel was seen as a natural fit with classic film and television series that both studios had in their vaults, including Rod Serling's Night Gallery (from Universal TV) and Paramount's Star Trek and classic Universal horror films such as Dracula and Frankenstein. Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and author Isaac Asimov were among those on the advisory board.
Science fiction is a genre of fiction dealing with imaginary but more or less plausible (or at least non-supernatural) content such as future settings, futuristic science and technology, space travel, aliens, and paranormal abilities. Exploring the consequences of scientific innovations is one purpose of science fiction, making it a "literature of ideas".
Science fiction is largely based on writing rationally about alternative possible worlds or futures. It is similar to, but differs from fantasy in that, within the context of the story, its imaginary elements are largely possible within scientifically established or scientifically postulated laws of nature (though some elements in a story might still be pure imaginative speculation).
The settings for science fiction are often contrary to known reality, but most science fiction relies on a considerable degree of suspension of disbelief, which is facilitated in the reader's mind by potential scientific explanations or solutions to various fictional elements. Science fiction elements include:
Hannah Louise Spearritt (born 1 April 1981; Great Yarmouth, Norfolk) is an English actress and singer. She was previously a member of the pop group S Club 7. She is also known for playing the role of Abby Maitland in the British drama Primeval.
Spearritt was born in Great Yarmouth to Michael and Jenny Spearritt. She is the youngest of three children. Her sister is former model and fashion designer Tanya Spearritt. Her uncle, Eddie Spearritt, from Lowestoft was a professional football player who played for Ipswich Town in the 1960s.
Spearritt and co-star Andrew-Lee Potts met when both were cast as lead characters on the ITV series Primeval and in February 2006 they started dating.[citation needed] In December 2008 they became engaged.
At the age of 3, Spearritt modelled in a Mothercare catalogue. When she was 12, she landed a part in the Lowestoft Players amateur dramatics society's production of Annie. Thereafter she successfully auditioned for the National Youth Music Theatre, and became part of the company. While with the NYMT she met future S Club member and boyfriend Paul Cattermole, as well as her friend and future flatmate, actress Sheridan Smith. She appeared in the NYMT's productions Pendragon (1994–95) — performing in New York and Hong Kong, Tin Pan Ali (1996), and the West End musical Bugsy Malone (1997) — she was a member of the original cast.
Gabriel Teodros (born 1981), is a hip hop artist and a member of the group Abyssinian Creole. He is of Ethiopian, Scottish, Irish & Native American descent, and was raised on Beacon Hill, Seattle, Washington. Teodros' music is determined by a social consciousness that tackles issues such as sexism, racism and homophobia, with constant references to his engagement towards the Third World issues, a.o. due to his Ethiopian background. He was a catalyst in the surge of dynamic underground rap acts from the Pacific Northwest during the mid- to late 2000s.
Born and raised in Seattle, Washington; Teodros spent his high school years in Las Vegas, Nevada where in the face of racism and police brutality, he began to take his music seriously.
In 1999, Teodros returned to Seattle and began working with a live band called 500 Years. That same year, he met an MC named Khalil Crisis (better known as Khingz), from the group Maroon Colony. In 2001, Teodros and Khingz formed the group Abyssinian Creole, and in 2005 the group released their first album, entitled Sexy Beast, an album that gave expression to the post-1990s cosmopolitanism thriving in South Seattle.

Ella es de otro mundo
Yo sideral
Me llevo a lo prohibido
En su nave espacial
Y no no no no
No no no no
No no no no
No pude escapar
Me dio un beso quimico
Que me hizo volar
Su magnetismo fisico
Me obligo a bailar
Y no no no no
No no no no
No no no no
No pude parar
Brilla como el destello
De una estrella fugaz
De un talisman de cuello
Que suele hipnotizar
Y no no no no
No no no no
No no no no
No la voy a evitar
Deben sus pisadas
Algo celestial
Me invito a seguirla
Abrio su portal
Y no no no no
No no no no
No no no no
No me voy a negar
