Lewis Milestone (born Lev Milstein) (September 30, 1895 – September 25, 1980) was a Russian-American motion picture director. He is known for directing ''Two Arabian Knights'' (1927) and ''All Quiet on the Western Front'' (1930), both of which received Academy Awards for Best Director. He also directed ''The Front Page'' (1931 - nomination), ''The General Died at Dawn'' (1936), ''Of Mice and Men'' (1940), ''Ocean's Eleven'' (1960), and ''Mutiny on the Bounty'' (1962).
After the war he went to Hollywood, where he first worked as a film cutter, and later as an assistant director. Howard Hughes promoted Milestone to director, and one of his early efforts, the 1928 film ''Two Arabian Knights'', won him an Oscar in the first Academy Award ceremony. He also directed ''The Racket'', an early gangster film, and later helped Hughes direct scenes for his aviation saga ''Hell's Angels'' (for which he never received credit).
Milestone won his second Academy Award for ''All Quiet on the Western Front'', a harrowing screen adaptation of the antiwar novel by Erich Maria Remarque. His next, ''The Front Page'', brought the Ben Hecht/Charles MacArthur play to the screen. It earned him another Oscar nomination. His work during the 1930s and 1940s was always easily identifiable by its lighting and imaginative use of fluid camera. He worked extensively in television from the mid 1950s.
Lewis Milestone's final request before he died in 1980 was for Universal Studios to restore ''All Quiet on the Western Front'' to its original length. That request would eventually be granted nearly two decades later by Universal and other film preservation companies, and this restored version is what is widely seen today on television and home video. Milestone is interred in the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles.

Louis Jourdan (born 19 June 1921) is a French film actor. He is known for his roles in several Hollywood films, including ''The Paradine Case'' (1947), ''Gigi'' (1958), ''The Best of Everything'' (1959), and ''Octopussy'' (1983). His final film before his retirement was ''The Year Of The Comet'' in 1992.
Following the German occupation of France during World War II, he continued to make films but after refusing to participate in Nazi propaganda films, he joined the French Resistance; his father was arrested by the Gestapo. After WWII, on 11 March 1946, Jourdan married Berthe Frédérique, with whom he had his only child, a son.
After a number of American films, most notably the romantic drama ''Three Coins in the Fountain'' (1954), he made his Broadway debut in the lead role in Billy Rose' drama, ''The Immoralist''. He returned to Broadway for a short run in 1955 and that year made his U.S. television debut as Inspector Beaumont in the series ''Paris Precinct''. In 1956, he appeared in the film ''The Swan'' alongside Grace Kelly and Alec Guinness, playing the role of Professor Nicholas Agi.
During the 1950s, Jourdan made several international films, taking the male lead in ''The Bride Is Much Too Beautiful'' (1956) with Brigitte Bardot. However, he may be best remembered as the romantic lead opposite Leslie Caron and Maurice Chevalier in the film version of the Colette novella, ''Gigi'' (1958). The film earned nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Jourdan also co-starred with Frank Sinatra and Shirley MacLaine in the 1960 musical ''Can-Can''.
In later years, Jourdan also appeared on television, including 1977's ''Count Dracula'' for the BBC and the 1978 ''Columbo'' episode ''Murder Under Glass''.
He later played Anton Arcane in the 1982 film ''Swamp Thing'' and its 1989 sequel ''The Return of Swamp Thing''.
During the 1970s, he recorded a series of spoken word albums of the ''Babar'' books that were released by Caedmon Records.
In 1983, he was cast as the villainous Kamal Khan in the James Bond film ''Octopussy''. In 1984, he played the role of Pierre de Coubertin in ''The First Olympics: Athens 1896'', a TV series about the 1896 Summer Olympics.
He is retired and lives with his wife of over 65 years, Berthe Frédérique "Quique" Jourdan, in Vielle, in the South of France.
In 2010, Jourdan was awarded ''Légion d'Honneur'' in Los Angeles, which he received, accompanied by friends, including Sidney Poitier and Kirk Douglas.
