Pontiac Silverdome Auction Preview: Episode 1
General information, registration, auction format and schedule for the Silverdome auction. Sealed bids for the absolute auction can be submitted until Nov. 12 at 4pE. Built at a cost $55 million, the Silverdome was the largest arena in the NFL when the engineering marvels doors opened in 1975. So what does the winning bidder get? How about 127.5 acres, special zoning from the city and of course the dome. Dont have an NFL franchise to put in the Silverdome? No problem. Pontiac city leaders are ready to work with the new owners on just about any redevelopment proposal. Sealed bids are now being accepted by Williams & Williams through Nov.12, 2009 at 4p ET. At that time, the city of Pontiac, in its sole discretion, may declare the current high bidder the winner and the auction ended. OR the city may elect to invite no more than the top five high bidders to a best and final outcry auction. Should the city determine that they will continue the auction to final outcry, that live event will be held in Pontiac, Mich., on Nov. 16, 2009 at 1p ET at the Marriott Hotel in Pontiac, to give all finalists time to travel to Pontiac. For more information contact Dan Falls at Williams & Williams at 918.362.6558 Considered an excellent high-profile redevelopment opportunity, the Pontiac Silverdome, an 80300-seat stadium, is prominently situated on 127+/- acres accessible by I-75 and M-59. SILVERDOME DRIVE IN THEATER, Pontiac Michigan USA
SILVERDOME DRIVE IN THEATER, Pontiac Michigan USA
You can turn the volume off on this clip. With summer 2012 approaching, I just wanted to post this historic video of the now closed down SILVERDOME drive in theater. I hope this serves as an inspiration to someone. No matter what state you live in, weith the possible exception of Hawaii, there are empty parking lots everywhere, at closed down shopping malls and boarded up big box stores. Here we see a seldem used sports megadome's parking lot turned into a three screen drive in theater. I'll post more detailed footage in the future, here you'll see the marquee and ticket booths, maybe a 35mm film platter if you're lucky. Although this brave attempt at bringing outdoor moovies back to Pontiac Michigan USA didn't quite work out, the concept continues to succeed just miles away in the municipality of Plymouth. The Compuware Sports Arena parking lot lights up with three drive in screens, seasonally. Parkiing lots CAN be made into places of motion picture entertainment. Check out these other RQVOutdoorMoovies Channel choices: 1. multi plex cinema parking lot turned into drive in theater 2. sports arena parking lot converted into 3 screen drive in theater 3. anoutdoor moovies snack bar oddity 4. 49er drive in theater, indiana usa 5. no movie tonight aka the burnside bummer 6. ski hi drive in closes down 7. ruskin drive in theater, florida usa 8. elm road drive in theater, warren ohio usa 9. skyway drive in theater, warren ohio usa 10. route 66 festival with martin milner part 1
