Robert Frank
Robert Frank (born November 9, 1924) is an American photographer and documentary filmmaker. His most notable work, the 1958 book titled The Americans, earned Frank comparisons to a modern-day de Tocqueville for his fresh and nuanced outsider's view of American society. Critic Sean O'Hagan, writing in The Guardian in 2014, said The Americans "changed the nature of photography, what it could say and how it could say it. [ . . . ] it remains perhaps the most influential photography book of the 20th century." Frank later expanded into film and video and experimented with manipulating photographs and photomontage.

Robert Frank (SS officer)
Robert Frank (18 October 1910 – 13 April 1944) was a Sturmbannführer (Major) in the Waffen-SS during World War II. He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. This was awarded to recognize extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership by Nazi Germany during World War II.
War Service
Robert 'Adolf' Frank was born on the 18 October 1910, in Erlangen, Germany. He volunteered to join the SS-VT and during World War II served with the SS Division Totenkopf during the early campaigns in command of the 6th Company. He was awarded the Iron Cross II class during the Battle of France in June 1940. He next took part in Operation Barbarossa the invasion of the Soviet Union and was awarded the Iron Cross I class in July 1941. On the formation of the 9th SS Panzer Division Hohenstaufen he took over command of the II./Battalion, 20th SS Panzergrenadier Regiment on the 4 April 1944.
Killed in Action
Robert Frank was killed in action on the 13 April 1944 near Tarnopol in the Ukraine and awarded a posthumous Knight's Cross.

Robert Frank (cricketer)
Robert Wilson Frank (29 May 1864 – 9 September 1950) was an English amateur first-class cricketer, who played eighteen matches for Yorkshire County Cricket Club, and once for I Zingari, between 1889 to 1903.
Born in Pickering, North Yorkshire, England, Frank was a right-handed batsman, who scored 430 runs at 15.92, with a top score of 92. An occasional right arm slow bowler, he bowled only ten balls at a cost of nine runs. He was capped by Yorkshire. He also played for the Yorkshire Second XI from 1901 to 1913, the North of England in 1894, and for Northallerton and District in 1903.
Frank died in September 1950, aged 86, in Pickering.

Whizzer (Robert Frank)
The Whizzer is a fictional character that appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. He first appeared during the period during the 1930s and 1940s that fans and historians call the Golden Age of Comic Books.
Publication history
The first Whizzer (Robert Frank) debuted in USA Comics #1 (Aug. 1941), published by Timely Comics. The character was created by penciller Al Avison and an unnamed writer. One source credits Stan Lee as that writer, but there are no other sources to support the credit. Timely published solo adventures of the Whizzer throughout the first half of the 1940s, then, in 1946, made the character part of the superhero team the All-Winners Squad in the final two issues of All Winners Comics. These were the character's last appearances during the 1940s.
Writer Roy Thomas reintroduced the Golden Age Whizzer in Giant-Size Avengers #1 (Aug. 1974). Two years later, in The Avengers Annual #6 (Nov. 1976), writer Gerry Conway reinterpreted the character's origin and history so that the "transfusion of mongoose blood" was not the source of the power, but the factor that "triggered a latent mutant ability". Thomas, in the World War II flashback series The Invaders #5-6 (March-May 1976), expanded on the character's wartime career as a sometime-member of the retroactively created superhero team the Invaders. Thomas later additionally made the Whizzer a full-time member of the home-front heroes the Liberty Legion, in Marvel Premiere #29-30 (April-June 1976). Neither team had existed in Timely Comics.

On September 9, 2019, celebrated Swiss-born photographer Robert Frank died at the age of 94. In this "Sunday Morning" interview broadcast on October 4, 1987, Frank talked about the inspirations behind his classic collection of photographs, "The Americans," taken during a two-year trip across the U.S., which was then being exhibited in a cross-country tour as part of a celebration of his life's work. In 1950, Robert Frank left his job as a photographer in New York to travel through Europe with his family. That summer he arrived in Valencia, Spain, which was at the time a humble, bleak place enduring the austere conditions of the postwar period like the rest of the country. The pictures Frank took of Valencia depict the daily life of a fishing village. His portrayal is so natural and clear that further verbal explanation seems superfluous; they simply reflect, in the photo grapher’s words, “the humanity of the moment”. The photographs in this book, many of which have never been published before, allow dignity to override poverty.

In this "Sunday Morning" interview broadcast on October 4, 1987, Frank talked about the inspirations behind his classic collection of photographs, "The Americans," taken during a two-year trip across the U.S., which was then being exhibited in a cross-country tour as part of a celebration of his life's work. Charles Kuralt also spoke with curator Anne Tucker, of the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, and Evan Turner, director of the Cleveland Museum of Art.

In 1950, Robert Frank left his job as a photographer in New York to travel through Europe with his family. That summer he arrived in Valencia, Spain, which was at the time a humble, bleak place enduring the austere conditions of the postwar period like the rest of the country. The pictures Frank took of Valencia depict the daily life of a fishing village. His portrayal is so natural and clear that further verbal explanation seems superfluous; they simply reflect, in the photo grapher’s words, “the humanity of the moment”. The photographs in this book, many of which have never been published before, allow dignity to override poverty.

In this "Sunday Morning" interview broadcast on October 4, 1987, Frank talked about the inspirations behind his classic collection of photographs, "The Americans," taken during a two-year trip across the U.S., which was then being exhibited in a cross-country tour as part of a celebration of his life's work. Charles Kuralt also spoke with curator Anne Tucker, of the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, and Evan Turner, director of the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Robert Frank
Robert Frank (born November 9, 1924) is an American photographer and documentary filmmaker. His most notable work, the 1958 book titled The Americans, earned Frank comparisons to a modern-day de Tocqueville for his fresh and nuanced outsider's view of American society. Critic Sean O'Hagan, writing in The Guardian in 2014, said The Americans "changed the nature of photography, what it could say and how it could say it. [ . . . ] it remains perhaps the most influential photography book of the 20th century." Frank later expanded into film and video and experimented with manipulating photographs and photomontage.
