CELTIC FIRE - THE COMING OF THE MILESIANS (BELFAST CHILD / THE STORM)
Celtic Fire is the breathtaking new musical show which combines the ethereal voice of Angela Little (singer and composer from Baz Luhrmann's film "Australia") with the energy and excitement of Irish dancing, primal tribal rhythms, sweeping cinematic sounds, and stunning visual projections. AFI award-nominated composer Angela has drawn on a wealth of tribal roots from many ancient cultures including Japanese Taiko drumming and middle Eastern rhythms and sounds to create a never-before-seen cross-cultural multimedia experience. The Coming of the Milesians is inspired by the lead-up to the epic mythical battle between the ancient inhabitants of Ireland, the Tuatha de Dannan (Tribe of the Goddess Danu), and the invading Milesians, who sailed across the ocean intent on conquering the land. The Tuatha de Dannan conjured a great storm to keep their enemies at sea. Angela channels the Goddess Brighid of the Sacred Flame, calling the warriors and stirring the storm from deep in the ocean to protect the tribe from destruction. Celtic Craniology & Milesian Murderers
The literary, historical and cultural heritage of Scotland and Ireland has been the subject of much recent scrutiny. The Celtic Innovations: New Approaches to Scottish and Irish Studies, Postgraduate Forum aims to further this interest by enabling young scholars to discuss their research and its impact in terms of current academic trends as well as local, national and international understanding. Our intention is to further existing academic links in Scottish and Irish studies between British, Irish, European and International institutions from a postgraduate level and beyond. This forum would be particularly keen to showcase innovative, interdisciplinary and unexplored approaches to Scottish and Irish studies from traditionally neglected angles, places and spaces. In establishing this forum alongside the recently inaugurated Scottish Irish Network, based at the University of Glasgow and the University of Sunderland, new postgraduate approaches to Scottish and Irish studies will be able to flourish in a climate which fosters Celtic studies.

Aimhirghin's Song- An Invocation of Ireland
The Song of Amairgin/Amairgin's Invocation in Gaelic, by Lisa Gerrard. Translated here in this video Amergin Glúingel ("white knees") or Glúnmar ("big knee") is a druid, bard and judge for the Milesians in the Irish Mythological Cycle. He was appointed Chief Ollam of Ireland by his two brothers the kings of Ireland. A number of poems attributed to Amergin are part of the Milesian mythology. One of the seven sons of Míl Espáine, he took part in the Milesian conquest of Ireland from the Tuatha Dé Danann, in revenge for their great-uncle Íth, who had been treacherously killed by the three kings of the Tuatha Dé, Mac Cuill, Mac Cecht and Mac Gréine. They landed at the estuary of Inber Scéne, named after Amergin's wife Scéne, who had died at sea. The three queens of the Tuatha Dé, (Banba, Ériu and Fódla), gave, in turn, permission for Amergin and his people to settle in Ireland. Each of the sisters required Amergin to name the island after each of them, which he did: Ériu is the origin of the modern name Éire, while Banba and Fódla are used as poetic names for Ireland, much as Albion is for Great Britain. The Milesians had to win the island by engaging in battle with the three kings, their druids and warriors. Amergin acted as an impartial judge for the parties, setting the rules of engagement. The Milesians agreed to leave the island and retreat a short distance back into the ocean beyond the ninth wave, a magical boundary. Upon a signal, they moved toward the beach, but the ...

IRELAND AND GALICIA
Ireland and Galicia Two countries are full of magic and mystery. They have many similarities. Apart from being Celtic nations Celtic customs and traditions preserved. Both have had to migrate abroad because of the famine. There are historical data that had maritime links dating from the Bronze Age. Celticamente talking not know if Galicia discovered Ireland or vice versa. Leabhar Ghabhála (Book of Invasions of Ireland) talks about the latest wave of invasions of the sons of Mil or Milesians from Brigantia (A Coruña) say the Irish are the descendants of Mil. Every legend has a background story. A recent theory put forward by Professor Dan Bradley Director of the genetic study of Trinity College, the Irish could descend via direct Galicia. And we thought we redheads inventors of Guinness were our cousins, who are now going to turn our great-grandchildren Nor can we forget that during the famous Battle of Kinsale Galicians raced to the aid of the Irish. The Book of Paul The Irish Connection
Author Richard Long relates his Irish-American upbringing and his struggle to make sense of a culture that remained largely hidden and obsessively secretive. The Celtic mythology of ancient Ireland becomes integrated into a feudal society ruled by the clan of Paul Kelly, a means for the author to fill in the glaring gaps of his Irish heritage.

Celtic / Irish Mythology: Tuatha De Danann
The Tuatha Dé Danann ("peoples of the goddess Danu", Modern Irish, are a race of people in Irish mythology. In the invasions tradition which begins with the Lebor Gabála Érenn, they are the fifth group to settle Ireland, conquering the island from the Fir Bolg. The Tuatha Dé Danann are thought to derive from the pre-Christian deities of Ireland. When the surviving stories were written, Ireland had been Christian for centuries, and the Tuatha Dé were represented as mortal kings, queens and heroes of the distant past; however there are many clues to their former divine status.
