Goggle jackets are a hooded windproof type jacket released in the late nineties, popular in Britain. They cover the head and face completely, except for two built-in eye windows.
The design came from Italy and was copied from protective gear worn by drivers in the Mille Miglia car race.
Some people wear them to protect their faces against cold and driven rain, some for concealment.
Criticism[link]
Goggle jackets have been used by gangs and criminals due to the ability of concealment.[1] A Northumbria Police spokesman said the jackets were totally legal. "A hat, scarf and glasses combination could obscure someone's identity so there are no legal powers to stop anyone wearing these jackets." he added.[2] One web site calls them "burqas for the boys".

Phil Young (born in Canterbury, New South Wales) was an Australian rugby league player for the Canterbury Bulldogs and the Newtown Jets in the New South Wales Rugby League premiership competition.[1]
