How to Scrap old Cell Phones for *Gold Recovery
http://www.goldnscrap.com Short video showing how and what to scrap in old cell phones and prepare them for gold and other precious metals recovery. Also see the USGS pdf report "Recycled Cell Phones—A Treasure Trove of Valuable Metals" (2006): http://pubs.usgs.gov/fs/2006/3097/fs2006-3097.pdf But do not forget to adjust the prices to gold's current value. The report suggests an avarage gold content of 0.034g per cell phone: At 2005 - 0.034g was worth 0.4$ At todays prices (1700$ an ounce) - 0.034 is worth 1.85$ Will scrapping cell phones make you rich? probably not. But it will make you some extra cash. --------------------------------------------------------------------- I have made this short list for US citizens who wants to sell scrap electronics. You can contact these following scrap buyers: Gold Chip Buyer - http://tinyurl.com/cozy8mk Relectrocycle - http://tinyurl.com/8vanc32 CashforComputerScrap - http://tinyurl.com/92daohe Mike, South Eastern Ohio - (740)350-1272 I have hand picked these scrap buyer as i know they are very honest and stright forward. AT&T; Archives: Advanced Mobile Phone Service (AMPS), a 1978 film on cell phones
For more from the AT&T; Archives, visit http://techchannel.att.com/archives Using simple graphics, this film, made in 1978, illustrates the concept of cellular telephony in easily-understood terms, which are instructive even today, since the basic idea of dividing a service area into a pattern of small cells remains the same. As the film points out, the concept of using these small cells was developed at Bell Labs, and it was this idea that constituted the giant leap from earlier, less efficient mobile phone systems to today's modern cell service. What the film does not mention: the year the cellular idea was first proposed at the Labs, which was 1947. In 1946, AT&T; had introduced the first commercial mobile telephone service in St. Louis, Missouri. The equipment weighed nearly 80 pounds and was installed in a subscriber's motor vehicle. A single transmitter on a central tower provided service to the entire area, and only a handful of channels had to be shared by all subscribers. Before long, more channels were needed for mobile service to continue to grow. That's when Bell Labs engineer, D.H. Ring, proposed a solution. In his 1947 memorandum, Ring outlined a hexagonal grid system composed of multiple low-power transmitters with automatic call handoff from one hexagon to another. The scheme would enable reuse of frequencies within a given area, dramatically increasing the mobile network's capacity. But at the time, the technology to implement Ring's proposal did not yet exist, and it would be another few decades before this scheme would be revisited by AT&T; Bell Labs engineers Richard Frenkiel and Joel Engel. Their work would provide the basis for an AT&T; proposal in 1971 to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for a cellular network. The FCC would later grant AT&T; permission in 1977 to start conducting trials of a cellular system in the United States. The first commercial cellular system in the U.S., in Chicago, followed in 1983. Footage Courtesy of AT&T; Archives and History Center, Warren, NJ- published: 03 Feb 2014

Samsung Keynote @ CES 2013 - Youm Flexible Displays [HD] It was shaping up to be an hour that only a tech geek could love, until former President Bill Clinton strolled on stage at Samsung's keynote address to the Internation Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. More Videos CES 2013: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzHTTkE67IYcZ8GWJNwothd8wtSVWlS3p Without a major smartphone announcement, Samsung was relying on Clinton's star power and a shape-shifting mobile phone screen to generate Wednesday's buzz. This year's CES represents a golden opportunity for Samsung to further distinguish itself from some of its largest competitors. Apple has been nowhere to be found this week, while Google and Microsoft were keeping a low-profile. Tech giants tradionally used CES keynotes to make product announcements, but Samsung elected instead to polish its brand and highlight some innovations to its wide array of consumer electronics devices. Apple has become the most recognizable brand on earth due to its 'cool factor,' so Samsung was hoping to bask in the glow of the hippest living president. Clinton praised Samsung's flagship corporate social responsibility initiative, Samsung Hope for Children. He stressed that mobile technology can help solve problems in the third world. He veered from the focus on tech to urge lawmakers to ban ban ammunition clips that carry more than ten bullets in the wake of the Newtown massacre. His remarks on gun control and global warming drew a standing ovation from the crowd. Before Clinton spoke, Samsung showed off a new flexible OLED display technology called Youm. The screen will be perfect for tablets and smartphones and allow Samsung a host of design options for its Galaxy gadgets. It will enable tablets to fold up into smartphone-size devices for easy carrying. Also on display was Exynos 5 Octa,a brand new processor that will power its future mobile devices. Its the first eight-core mobile processor. 'We believe the right component DNA drives the discovery of what's possible,' said Samsng President Dr. Steven Woo. 'Components are building blocks-the foundations on which devices are built. We at Samsung's component solutions are creating new, game-changing components across all aspects of devices.' World's first mobile phone in 1938 ? Time Traveler in 1938 film ?
This short clip shows a woman talking into a wireless device in 1938 is thought to be the proof of the world's first mobile phone. The user said that Jones was 17 years old and when the user asked her about the video, she said that she remembered it quite clearly, saying that Dupont had a telephone communications section in the factory. 'Planetcheck' asserted that Jones said that Dupont had been tinkering with wireless telephones and she and five other women were given these wireless phones to test out for a week. The user added that in the video, she is talking to one of the scientists, who is holding another wireless phone, and is off to her right as she walks by. If the claims are true then it means that the clip was shot more than 40 years before the first cell phone, Motorola DynaTAC 8000x, was made available.- published: 03 Apr 2013

Keep an Eye on Your Mobile Phone and Other Property
Keep an Eye on Your Mobile Phone and Other Property
In the last three months, 775 mobile phones were stolen in Manchester City Centre (1 April -- 26 June 2013) which police estimate could equate to more than £380,000. Thirty nine per cent of these were taken from licensed premises, while 27 per cent were stolen on the street. Sixty eight per cent of phones stolen were iPhones. But the problem isn't just exclusive to the city centre. In 2012, 16,000 mobile phones were stolen throughout Greater Manchester, with police suspecting many of them are being exported abroad where they attract a more lucrative price tag. A phone without data could fetch up to £400 abroad but a phone with personal information or banking details could sell for around £1,000. Chief Inspector Gareth Parkin said: "As the popularity of smartphones rises, so too do the number of thefts but many victims seem unaware as to just how much their phone is worth. "You wouldn't walk around waving £500 in the air or leave a wad of cash on the table while having a coffee but this is exactly what people are doing with their phones. "People store very personal things on their phones such as photos and videos of their children, text messages, emails and access to their social media accounts. Having a thief root through your phone can be as invasive as being burgled." Offenders use an array of different tactics to prey on their victims. Some use distraction techniques such as hugging or asking for directions while others will place a newspaper on top of a phone and swipe it right underneath their victim's eyes. Some offenders will brazenly snatch the phone while it is in use while others will use more traditional pick pocketing techniques to obtain their swag. Chief Inspector Parkin added: "It's not just opportunist low level thieves that are stealing phones, there are gangs that are working together targeting busy city centre venues or large scale events. Some of them will travel from afar to specifically target Manchester because they know how busy it is. "Exporting stolen phones abroad is a very lucrative business and I have no doubt that the money made will be being used to fund further criminal activity. We have made some significant arrests and plain clothed officers are regularly patrolling hotspot areas to disrupt offenders but we need the public's help to make life harder for thieves." TV bikes showing messages about mobile phone theft will be patrolling the city centre this weekend (5 -- 7 July) and officers will be handing out leaflets to revellers advising them to keep their phone safe. Chief Inspector Parkin advised: "It may seem simple but treat your phone as you would a large bundle of cash. Never leave it unattended and keep out of sight when in public. "Be aware of your surroundings, keep your bag in view and don't lend your phone to a stranger. Use a pin or password to protect your phone and avoid keeping personal information that could be used by criminals to commit fraud on the handset. "Keep a record of your IMEI number as you will need this if your phone is stolen and register it on immobilise.com so that we can return it to you in the event it is stolen. I'd also urge smartphone owners to install a tracking app, advice on these can be found on our website -- visit www.gmp.police.uk/wheresyours." Cllr Bernard Priest, Manchester City Council's executive member for neighbourhood services, said: "Hundreds of thousands of people come to Manchester city centre every year to enjoy our shops, restaurants and bars but unfortunately, visitors and residents need to be aware that this popularity can also be a draw for criminals. "The police have already been successful in catching some of these criminals, and officers are constantly looking out for mobile phone thieves, but I'd urge anyone who lives, works or visits the city centre to take sensible precautions when they use their phones while out and about." To report a crime or suspicious activity call Greater Manchester Police on 101. In an emergency, where there is a threat to life or property, call 999. To pass on information anonymously call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.- published: 02 Jul 2013
