Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia, was in Warsaw on 24 September 2006 celebrating the fifth anniversary of the on line encyclopedia in Poland. So it was nice that he had not allowed success to go to his head and he managed to drop in on old friends and tell them about his plans for this country. My channel on you tube : www.youtube.com is one of themost prolific from Poland, although unfortunately not the most visited. With almost one film per day, one may be forgiven for thinking I do nothing else but I do have a day job as well. I have produced more than 400 original films, most in English but also in Polish, French, Italian, Spanish and the occassional hint of German and Hebrew. My big interest in life is travel and history but I have also placed films on other subjects Please feel free to ask questions in the public area or to comment on things you disagree with. Sometimes there are mistakes because I speak without preparation. If I see the mistakes myself, I make this clear in the text. Please also leave a star rating! Through successive immigrations, the Armenians of Poland gradually formed a colony, comprising 200000. They were welcomed by the Kings of Poland and were granted not only religious liberty, but also political privileges. Casimir III (1333-1370) gave to the Armenians of Kamieniec Podolski in 1344 and those of Lwów in 1356 the right of setting up a national council, exclusively Armenian, known as the "Voit." Armenian origin of many Polish families could be easily traced before World War II. They would intermarry among themselves; if they'd go on religious pilgrimages, they'd prefer visiting the Armenian cathedral of Lwów, built under the inspiration of the churches of Ani. Armyani is a historic old town, named after the Armenians, near the Smodrich River After suffering heavy losses along with the rest of Poland's population in World War II, the polish Armenian community suffered a second loss. The regions of Poland where Armenians were concentrated such as Eastern Galicia were annexed into the Soviet Union as part of the agreements reached at the Yalta conference. As a result the Polish Armenian community became dispersed all over Poland. Most Armenians living in Poland today origins are from the post-Soviet emigration rather than the older Armenian community. In which I kind of ramble on a bit about copyright law, Mega Man videos, Youtube Content ID and all sorts of other nifty shenanigans that relate to my video having ads placed all over it by Agora, who have absolutely nothing to do with the video I made and should not be able to place ads all over it. UPDATE: The Agora discussed in this video may not be the correct Agora, as there's also an American entertainment company called Agora Entertainment. However, they produce music videos and reality shows and also have nothing to do with Mega Man. I'm not sure which Agora it is, I assumed it was the Polish one because they are the bigger company and therefore much more likely to have content marked for Youtube's Content ID system. During World War I, all the Allies agreed on the reconstitution of Poland that United States President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed in Point 13 of his Fourteen Points. Shortly after the armistice with Germany in November 1918, Poland regained its independence as the Second Polish Republic (II Rzeczpospolita Polska). It reaffirmed its independence after a series of military conflicts, the most notable being the PolishSoviet War (19191921) when Poland inflicted a crushing defeat on the Red Army. The royal procession scene from the monumental Polish film Faraon (1966) by the late legendary Polish director Jerzy Kawalerowicz (1922-2007). The film is based on the famous Polish novel "Faraon" by Bolesław Prus . Although the story is historically not real one, it remotely echoes some of the historical currents in the late periods of the ancient Egyptian New Kingdom. The film is characterized by its beautiful scenery and costumes. It is worth mentioning that the counselor of the costumes and scenery is the great Egyptian director and artist Shady Abdel Salam, who created the most important film that came from Egypt "The Night of Counting the Years" in the late 1960s. Uhlans (in Polish: "Ułan"; "Ulan" in German, from Turkish oğlan [1]) were Polish light cavalry armed with lances, sabres and pistols. The title was later used by lancer regiments in the Prussian and Austrian armies. Uhlans typically wore a double-breasted jacket (kurta) with a coloured panel (plastron) at the front, a coloured sash, and a square-topped Polish lancer cap (czapka) also spelt chapka, chapska and schapska. This cap or cavalry helmet was derived from a traditional design of Polish cap, made more formal and stylised for military use. Their lances usually had small swallow-tailed flags (known as the lance pennon) just below the spearhead. World War II: Although the Polish cavalrymen retained their sabres, after 1937 the lance was no longer standard issue, but was issued to cavalrymen as an optional weapon of choice. Instead the cavalry units were equipped with 75mm field guns, light tanks, 37mm anti-tank guns, 40mm anti-aircraft guns, as well as anti-tank rifles and other modern weapons.
