Educational Goals 2021: the education that we want for the bicentenarie
"Educational Goals 2021: the education that we want for the bicentenaries' generation" project. It was developed by the Ibero-American Organization for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) and the Ibero-American Conference of Education Ministers. It aspires to promote the education as a generator of change in the Ibero-American societies, most of them struck by poverty, social inequity and the new rush of uncertainty about the World's financial future. The OEI aims at installing a new kind of debate between the actors implied in the educational situation of the Ibero- American countries, as a way to identify the best possible expectations for the region and the best possible means to achieve them. www.oei.es

6 Ibero American countries convene in Buenos Aires
Ibero-American countries convene in Buenos Aires. The 13th Ibero-American Culture Conference was held in the Argentine capital, bringing together the culture ministers of Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Uruguay and Venezuela, as well as representatives from various Ibero-American organizations. A major conference development was the approval of a Spanish proposal to establish an Amer-Indian Culture and Language Center that will be located in Madrid. The center's focus will include research, preservation and sharing of the culture and languages of the indigenous peoples of the Americas. At the conclusion of the summit, the ministers also signed a declaration for the Ibero-American Cultural Charter, which seeks to support member countries in fostering cultural development. Our accolades, Your Excellencies and all participants of this year's Ibero-American Conference. May your warm and cooperative spirit in working together continue to benefit many lives, both directly and through sharing the rich native cultures of your lands.

My Country
Wikipedia says, Argentina (ɑrdʒənˈtiːnə), officially the Argentine Republic (Spanish: República Argentina [reˈpuβlika arxenˈtina]), is the second largest country in South America by land area, after Brazil. It is constituted as a federation of 23 provinces and an autonomous city, Buenos Aires. It is the eighth-largest country in the world by land area and the largest among Spanish-speaking nations. Argentina's continental area is between the Andes mountain range in the west and the Atlantic Ocean in the east. It borders Paraguay and Bolivia to the north, Brazil and Uruguay to the northeast, and Chile to the west and south. Argentine claims over Antarctica, as well as overlapping claims made by Chile and the United Kingdom, are suspended by the Antarctic Treaty of 1961. Argentina also claims the Falkland Islands (Spanish: Islas Malvinas) and South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, which are administered by the United Kingdom as British Overseas Territories. A recognised middle power, Argentina is Latin America's third-largest economy, with a "very high" rating on the Human development index. Within Latin America, Argentina has the fifth highest nominal GDP per capita and the highest in purchasing power terms. Analysts have argued that the country has a "foundation for future growth due to its market size, levels of foreign direct investment, and percentage of high-tech exports as share of total manufactured goods", and it is classed by investors as an emerging ...

Around the world : Brazil
Brazil was a colony of Portugal from the landing of Pedro Álvares Cabral in 1500 until 1815, when it was elevated to United Kingdom with Portugal and Algarves. The colonial bond was in fact broken in 1808, when the capital of the Portuguese Kingdom was transferred from Lisbon to Rio de Janeiro, after Napoleon invaded Portugal. The independence from Portugal was achieved in 1822. Initially independent as the Empire of Brazil, the country has been a republic since 1889, although the bicameral legislature, now called Congress, dates back to 1824, when the first constitution was ratified. Its current Constitution defines Brazil as a Federal Republic. The Federation is formed by the union of the Federal District, the 26 States, and the 5564 Municipalities. The Brazilian economy is the world's eighth largest economy by nominal GDP and the eighth largest by purchasing power parity.Brazil is one of the world's fastest growing major economies. Economic reforms have given the country new international recognition.Brazil is a founding member of the United Nations, the G20, CPLP, Latin Union, the Organization of Ibero-American States, Mercosul and the Union of South American Nations, and is one of the BRIC countries. Brazil is also home to a diversity of wildlife, natural environments, and extensive natural resources in a variety of protected habitats.

Portugal (República Portuguesa),is a country on the Iberian Peninsula. Located in southwestern Europe, Portugal is the westernmost country of mainland Europe and is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and south and by Spain to the north and east. The Atlantic archipelagos of the Azores and Madeira are also part of Portugal. The land within the borders of today's Portuguese Republic has been continuously settled since prehistoric times. Gallaeci, Lusitanians, Celtici, Cynetes, Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans and many Germanic tribes such as the Suevi, the Buri and the Visigoths, all left its influence on what is today Portuguese territory. In the early 8th century, the Muslim Moors conquered the Christian Germanic Kingdoms, eventually occupying most of the Iberian Peninsula. Later, in the early 1100s, during the Christian Reconquista, Portugal appeared as a kingdom independent of its neighbour, the Kingdom of León and Galicia. In 1249, Portugal would establish almost its entire modern-day borders by reconquering territory from the Moors. During the 15th and 16th centuries, with a global empire that included possessions in Africa, Asia, and South America, Portugal was one of the world's major economic, political and military powers. It was then united with Spain during a period called the Iberian Union; however, it went onto re-establish total sovereignty and independence during the Portuguese Restoration War that resulted in the establishment of a new dynasty and ...

[FOOD CRISIS] :"Humanity Is In Mortal Danger"
source : LPAC Humanity Is In Mortal Danger --Global Food Crisis "Instead of Wars of Starvation, Let Us Double Food Production" by Helga Zepp-LaRouche Schiller Institute schillerinstitute.org 703-771-8390 (United States) May 3, 2008 (LPAC)--The fiery letters of an unprecedented human catastrophe already stand flickering on the wall, and it will be fatal for the world as a whole, if we do not succeed immediately, in the coming days and weeks, to declare globalization a failure, and to set everything into motion to double agricultural production capacity in the shortest possible time! This is of the utmost urgency: Since October 2007, there have been food riots in over 40 nations. According to Rajat Nag, managing director general of the Asian Development Bank, 1 billion Asians (!) are already at serious risk from the hunger crisis, and in Africa, Ibero-America, and among the poor on the other continents, an additional 1 billion face the same fate. But according to Jacques Diouf, head of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), since December his organization has been unable to raise 10.9 million euros (!) in order to purchase seed for poor farmers in developing countries. The rich states are simply not willing to support the developing countries with money, seed, and investment in infrastructure, Diouf told an FAO conference on Latin America in Brasilia in mid-April. Jean Ziegler, UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, pointed to an additional aspect of the ...
