This movie is set in the mid 1800s and involves Edgar Allan Poe, the poet. A serial killer is on the loose and murdering people using Poe's descriptions from his published poems. SMOOCH is a modern retelling of the classic Frog Prince tale with a romantic comedy twist. She brings him home and soon realizes the only way she can "keep him" is to have the man impersonate a "Royal Nanny" and convince her beautiful widowed mother to hire him. With the clock ticking and his royal family searching for him, the man - whose memory eventually returns to him - falls hard for the girl's mom, and it seems like a Valentines Day dream come true until he's found by his family and is forced to finally stop being a bit of a "toady"... and become a real man. In the end, the little girl, the guy, and the gal, all discover that even in today's crazy world, "happy ever after" is possible.

U.S. State Department agent Kent Foster, on the trail of a murderous traitor, Nick Randall, hopes to trap Randall through singer/stripper Angela Booth. The latter has promised to marry Randall on New Year's Eve, even though she is not to see him until then. However, she lands in prison after a quarrel with influential Julius Lord, during which she defended herself with a broken mirror. Foster arranges for her escape, with the aid of "Granny" Ramsey,in the hopes she will lead him to Randall. The plan is snarled when another girl prisoner, with her infant, joins the escape and Angel slips away. She manages to meet Randall, and when he slaps her, she realizes that all she has heard about him is true.

So the authorities contact Gran' Ramsey, a stoolie currently at the same prison as Angela, to have her arrange an escape for Angela, so the police can follow her to Nick. Gran' stages a getaway, the two women taking with them a third, Marguerite, whose prison-born baby is about to be turned over to the welfare department. It is up to Gran' to keep the police informed of Angela's whereabouts without being detected by the escapees, while waiting for Angela to contact Nick...

Ivan Kouznetsoff, a Russian engineer, recounts during World War II his stay in England prior to the war working on a new propeller for ice-breaking ships. Naïve about British people and convinced by hearsay that they are shallow and hypocritical, Ivan is both bemused and amused by them. He is blunt in his opinions about Britons and at first this puts off his hosts, including the lovely Ann Tisdall, whose grandfather runs the shipbuilding firm that will make use of Ivan's propeller. The longer Ivan stays, however, the more he comes to understand the humor, warmth, strength, and conviction of the British people, and the more they come to see him as a friend rather than merely a suspicious Russian. As a romantic bond grows between Ivan and Ann, a cultural bond begins to grow as well, particularly as the war begins and Russia is attacked by Germany.

As the two lovers surrender to their ardor, Lord R. learns from his secretary that Mary had been telling the truth, and he calls for her to join him in Cannes with a clean slate. The cowboys of IXL ranch delight in seeing 'Bad Bill,' of Crazy Gulch, display his eccentricities. On this occasion, the cowboys are loafing in front of a saloon, when Bill rides up and cleans out the place. This pleases the boys, so they suggest that they go to the San Juan Sanitarium, and have some fun. Bill frightens a number of the patients; but when he attacks Percy, who has a mania for manicuring his nails, he meets his Waterloo, for Percy completely subdues him with blows. The cowpunchers now come up, salute Percy reverently, and assist Bill from the grounds, while Percy resumes his manicuring and strolls away.
