Medical experts at ECU Heath are seeing an increase in the number of younger people suffering from strokes. While risk of stroke increases with age, health care teams believe the uptick among young people is partly due to a combination of COVID-19, an increase in consuming processed, sugary and fatty foods as well as smoking and vaping.

Thomas Gatlin’s first round under par this season has the Lincoln East senior taking a one-stroke lead into Wednesday’s expected rainy final round of the Class A tournament at Norfolk Country Club. Gatlin’s 4-under 68 was one stroke better than the 69s by Lincoln Southeast freshman Thomas Bryson and Elkhorn South junior Ryan Lingelbach.
