Turkey - Müze Kent Safranbolu - Foto by İsmet Zühtü Saraçoğlu
Safranbolu is a town and district of Karabük Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey. It is about two hundred kilometers north of Ankara and about a hundred kilometers south of the Black Sea coast, or more precisely about 9 kilometers north of the city of Karabük. The Old Town preserves many old buildings, with 1008 registered historical artifacts. These are: 1 private museum, 25 mosques, 5 tombs, 8 historical fountains, 5 Turkish baths, 3 caravanserais, 1 historical clock tower, 1 sundial and hundreds of houses and mansions. Also there are mounds of ancient settlements, rock tombs and historical bridges. The Old Town is situated in a deep ravine in a fairly dry area in the rain shadow of the mountains. The New Town can be found on the plateau about two kilometers west of the Old Town. Safranbolu was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites in 1994 due to its well-preserved Ottoman era houses and architecture. Tom Curry Maine Artist - Pastels For more info www.tomcurrymaineartist.com Life on the Maine coast is charged with a brilliance, a wildness. The waters are a living green ecosystem, radiating wonder. There's an urgency to my work because so many of these places are being lost to development. Nature, ever changing, offers countless compositions. I want to evoke a place, time and atmosphere in my work. The natural world is my big studio, filled with opportunities to observe nature and explore its seamless miracle. Open air painting is a selection process: this sky, these waves, this foreground. It's not a fragment, but a series of experiences not limited to space and time like a photograph. Many places feel sacred to me, places where the landscape evokes a sense of stewardship and reverence. I have worked with pastel more than 20 years. The medium's fluidity and immediacy allow me to capture the ever changing light, water, and atmosphere. I often return to work in the same locations with infinite daily results. Many artists influence my work: Ferdinand Hodler, Wolf Kahn, Marsden Hartley, Tom Thompson and Rockwell Kent. I also find inspiration in Jean Baptiste-Camille Corot's paintings of the Italian countryside, as well in the work of Edgar Degas, Fairfield Porter and Edward Hopper. where'd I go? every time I come into a place like this, I get lost. its like a consuming mist. that starts at the door with a list and a man that always seems pissed. red rope gripping the gripping crowd "let us in!" someone screams aloud. but it doesn't matter anyhow. to them, you don't exist. a tic, on a stick, in kent, connecticut is the priority of your unfit predicament... "let me out!" I scream inside. in dark secret space but not trying to hide. i stay standing, fighting the tide of tedious turmoil and temporary titillation, all grouped in association. being here is being nowhere.

'Man of Steel' To Feature Secret Villain?
bit.ly - Click to Subscribe! Facebook.com - Become a Fan! Twitter.com - Follow Us! What do we know for sure about next year's Superman reboot? Not a whole heck of a lot! Clark Kent will definitely be in it, so...there's that! Casting credits confirm the presence of Lois Lane, as well as Kryptonian villains General Zod, the traitorous former head of Krypton's military, and Faora, a man-hating psychopath. And the teaser trailers reveal that the Kent family wears a lot of flannel. But as far as plot details go, Warner Brothers and director Zack Snyder have been extremely tight-lipped. Snyder has said only that the film will be a reinvention of the Superman universe based on a mish-mash of stories from the comic books. However, sharp-eyed Super-fans can find hints in unlikely places, and it looks like LEGO has inadvertently released the identity of another 'Man of Steel' adversary! LEGO collector site Brick Set has posted a list of upcoming LEGO products slated for sale next year, and included is an item called "Superman Black Zero Escape." Black Zero has several references in the DC Universe, including a computer virus that plagued Supe's Fortress of Solitude and an evil clone of Superboy. We're thinking it's a pretty safe bet neither of these will factor into Man of Steel, so what else could Black Zero mean? Black Zero was first used as the name of a Kryptonian villain who was a saboteur who was responsible for the destruction of Krypton and overpowered Superman in a bid to ...

Psilocybe Cyanescens found in the Puget Sound, 11/16/10
This was the 6th destination on my already planned out, written down list of at least 30 places to look for Cyanescens, on Nov. 16th. This is probably the most dense patch of cyans i found this year sadly, but its not bad. I was hoping to get a monster patch, but did not get out enough for searching. There was 1 or 2 other clusters in this patch that werent on the video, sadly atleast 100 big mushrooms had already passed there prime and were too rotten to pick, but we still got a good haul out of this patch. For any of you that have trouble finding any cyans what so ever, you need to look harder, because they are a very common mushroom. I recon during a good moist autumn there are cyans growing within a mile of you if you live in or around a city...

This was filmed between 4th and 11th April 2011. I had the pleasure of visiting El Teide.
Spain´s highest mountain @(3718m) is one of the best places in the world to photograph the stars and is also the location of Teide Observatories, considered to be one of the world´s best observatories.
The goal was to capture the beautiful Milky Way galaxy along with one of the most amazing mountains I know El Teide. I have to say this was one of the most exhausting trips I have done. There was a lot of hiking at high altitudes and probably less than 10 hours of sleep in total for the whole week. Having been here 10-11 times before I had a long list of must-see locations I wanted to capture for this movie, but I am still not 100% used to carrying around so much gear required for time-lapse movies.
A large sandstorm hit the Sahara Desert on the 9th April (http://bit.ly/g3tsDW) and at approx 3am in the night the sandstorm hit me, making it nearly impossible to see the sky with my own eyes.
Interestingly enough my camera was set for a 5 hour sequence of the milky way during this time and I was sure my whole scene was ruined. To my surprise, my camera had managed to capture the sandstorm which was backlit by Grand Canary Island making it look like golden clouds. The Milky Way was shining through the clouds, making the stars sparkle in an interesting way. So if you ever wondered how the Milky Way would look through a Sahara sandstorm, look at 00:32.

In February 2011, the five times world champions Fred Fugen and Vince Reffett from Soul Flyers were invited to Melbourne to provide advanced 3D coaching to some of Australia's leading Skydive athlete talent.
The goal of the Training camp and the production were:
1. To increase participation in our sport.
2. Provide greater pathways for our elite athletes.
Hopefully this video will give all that view it a different perspective of what skydiving can offer. Hopefully it will provoke some necessity to learn to fly in our wonderful three-dimensional environment- The Sky!

Midnight Sun | Iceland
BEST VIEWED IN HD AND FULLSCREEN (with scaling off)
Midnight Sun: A natural phenomenon occurring in the summer months north of the Arctic Circle and south of the Antarctic Circle where the sun never fully sets and remains visible 24 hours a day.
This short time lapse film was shot during the Icelandic Midnight Sun in June of 2011.
For 17 days I travelled solo around the entire island shooting almost 24 hours, sleeping in the car, and eating whenever I had the time. During my days shooting this film I shot 38,000 images, travelled some 2900 miles, and saw some of the most amazing, beautiful, and indescribable landscapes on the planet. Iceland is absolutely one of the most beautiful and unusual places you could ever imagine. Especially during the Midnight Sun when the quality of light hitting the landscape is very unusual, and very spectacular.
Iceland is a landscape photographers paradise and playground, and should be number 1 on every photographers must visit list. Iceland during the Midnight Sun is in sort of a permanent state of sunset. The sun never full sets and travels horizontally across the horizon throughout the night, as can be seen in the opening shot and at the :51 second mark in the video.
During the Arctic summer, sunset was at midnight and sunrise was at 3am. The Arctic summer sun provided 24 hours a day of light, with as much as 6 hours daily of "Golden light". Once the sun had set it wouldn't even get dark enough for the stars to come out, and they don't start to reappear until August.
My advice to everyone out there, photographer or not, is simple... You MUST visit Iceland sometime during your lifetime. You will never regret it.
