Piraeus
Piraeus (/paɪˈriË?É™s, pɪˈreɪ.É™s/; Greek: ΠειÏ?αιάς Pireás [pireˈas], Ancient Greek: ΠειÏ?αιεÏ?Ï‚, Peiraieús, pronounced [peË?rajeús]) is a port city in the region of Attica, Greece. Piraeus is located within the Athens urban area,12 kilometres (7 miles) southwest from its city center (municipality of Athens), and lies along the east coast of the Saronic Gulf.
According to the 2011 census, Piraeus had a population of 163,688 people within its administrative limits, making it the fourth largest municipality in Greece and the second largest within the urban area of the Greek capital, following the municipality of Athens. The municipality of Piraeus and several other suburban municipalities within the regional unit of Piraeus form the greater Piraeus area, with a total population of 448,997.
Piraeus has a long recorded history, dating to ancient Greece. The city was largely developed in the early 5th century BC, when it was selected to serve as the port city of classical Athens and was transformed into a prototype harbour, concentrating all the import and transit trade of Athens. During the Golden Age of Athens the Long Walls were constructed to connect Athens with Piraeus. Consequently, it became the chief harbour of ancient Greece, but declined gradually after the 4th century AD, growing once more in the 19th century, especially after Athens' declaration as the capital of Greece. In the modern era, Piraeus is a large city, bustling with activity and an integral part of Athens, acting as home to the country's biggest harbour and bearing all the characteristics of a huge marine and commercial-industrial centre.

Piraeus (regional unit)
Piraeus (Greek: ΠεÏ?ιφεÏ?ειακή ενότητα ΠειÏ?αιώς) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the region of Attica. The regional unit covers the west-central part of the agglomeration of Athens.
Administration
As a part of the 2011 Kallikratis government reform, the regional unit Piraeus was created out of part of the former Piraeus Prefecture. It is subdivided into 5 municipalities. These are (number as in the map in the infobox):

From anyhere in Athens Metro Station, you can alight in Neo Faliro Metro stop and walk for approximately 1km to the first destination. Piraeus Metro Station is also an option too.

Piraeus is a port city within the Athens urban area, in the Attica region of Greece. It is located eight km (5 mi) southwest of Athens' city center, along the east coast of the Saronic Gulf in the Athens Riviera. Piraeus had a population of 163.000 people, making it the fifth largest municipality in Greece.
Piraeus has a long recorded history, dating back to ancient Greece. The city was founded in the early 5th century BC, when plans to make it the new port of Athens were implemented: A prototype harbor was constructed, which resulted in concentrating in one location all the import and transit trade of Athens, along with the navy's base. During the Golden Age of Athens, the Long Walls were constructed to fortify the route from the main settlement to the port. Piraeus went into a period of decline, however it began growing once again in the 19th century, after Athens was made the capital of Greece.
Today the port of Piraeus is the chief port in Greece, the 5th largest passenger port in Europe and the 24th largest passenger port in the world serving about 4.37 million passengers annually in 2020. Piraeus is among the busiest ten ports in Europe in terms of container traffic, and is the busiest container port in the Eastern Mediterranean.

According to the 2011 census, Piraeus had a population of 163,688 people within its administrative limits, making it the fourth largest municipality in Greece and the second largest within the urban area of the Greek capital, following the municipality of Athens. The municipality of Piraeus and several other suburban municipalities within the regional unit of Piraeus form the greater Piraeus area, with a total population of 448,997.

The city was largely developed in the early 5th century BC, when it was selected to serve as the port city of classical Athens and was transformed into a prototype harbour, concentrating all the import and transit trade of Athens. During the Golden Age of Athens the Long Walls were constructed to connect Athens with Piraeus. Consequently, it became the chief harbour of ancient Greece, but declined gradually after the 4th century AD, growing once more in the 19th century, especially after Athens' declaration as the capital of Greece. In the modern era, Piraeus is a large city, bustling with activity and an integral part of Athens, acting as home to the country's biggest harbour and bearing all the characteristics of a huge marine and commercial-industrial centre.
