Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi is an American rock band from Sayreville, New Jersey. Formed in 1983, Bon Jovi consists of lead singer and namesake Jon Bon Jovi (born John Francis Bongiovi, Jr.), pianist and keyboard player David Bryan, and drummer Tico Torres. The band's lineup has remained mostly static during its history, with the only exceptions being the 1994 dismissal of bass player Alec John Such, who was unofficially replaced by Hugh McDonald, and the departure of longtime guitarist and co-songwriter Richie Sambora in 2013. In 1986, Bon Jovi achieved widespread global recognition with their third album, Slippery When Wet. The band's fourth album, New Jersey was equally successful in 1988. After touring and recording non-stop during the late 1980s, the band went on hiatus following the New Jersey Tour in 1990, during which time Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora both released successful solo albums. In 1992, the band returned with the album Keep the Faith. Their 2000 single "It's My Life", which followed a second hiatus, successfully introduced the band to a younger audience. Bon Jovi have been known to use different styles in their music, which has included country for their 2007 album Lost Highway. On March 12, 2013, Bon Jovi released their 12th studio album, What About Now.

Crush Tour

The Crush Tour was a worldwide concert tour by American rock band Bon Jovi. This tour was in support of the band's multi-platinum selling album Crush. This was the band's first tour since their These Days Tour of 1995–1996 . The band played to 1.1 million fans in 40 arena and stadium venues across North America, Europe and Japan. The tour was made famous as Bon Jovi was the last rock band to play at the old Wembley Stadium, with two sold out concerts at that venue. The band released a DVD entitled The Crush Tour which was filmed at Letzigrund Stadion, Zurich, Switzerland on August 30, 2000 in front of 55,000 people. Due to the overwhelming response of this tour it was extended into 2001 with the renamed One Wild Night Tour.

Set list

Like most other Bon Jovi tours, the set list changed on a nightly basis. However, there were many similarities in the set lists from night to night. Several songs from the Crush album were present, such as "It's My Life", "One Wild Night", "Just Older", and "I Got the Girl". Live in Zurich is an album released in 1982. It was the fifth album by the jazz group the World Saxophone Quartet and the fourth to be released on the Italian Black Saint label.

The album features live performances by Hamiet Bluiett, Julius Hemphill, Oliver Lake and David Murray recorded in Zurich on November 6, 1981. The album is notable for featuring Julius Hemphill's compositions almost exclusively apart from opening and closing versions of the 'WSQ theme', "Hattie Wall".

Reception

The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow awarded the album 4.5 stars stating "By 1981, after four years of existence, it was obvious that the most talented writer in the World Saxophone Quartet was altoist Julius Hemphill. This Black Saint release finds Hemphill contributing six of the eight pieces (the other two are by Hamiet Bluiett), including the hard-swinging "Bordertown," the colorful "Steppin" and a vivid feature for David Murray's tenor on "My First Winter." A particularly strong release by a classic and innovative group.".
