Two police arrived and one officer began ordering the activists move across the road, trying to insist on an activists details and trying to grab an activists camera, telling him to stop filming -- but the officer was to be disappointed as campaigners declined his unlawful orders! Police and prosecutors have made a formal complaint to the broadcasting watchdog, Ofcom, over a Channel 4 programme about extremism in mosques which allegedly "completely distorted" the views of those involved. The Green Road Mosque in Birmingham was one of those featured in the programme The complaint was made after the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) concluded there was insufficient evidence to bring a charge against the broadcaster under the 1986 Public Order Act, following an inquiry by West Midlands Police. The CPS also found there was not enough evidence to support charges against those featured in Undercover Mosque, which was shown in the Dispatches slot in January. Police expanded the initial inquiry into those featured in the programme to investigate those who made it. In a joint statement, the force and the CPS said a formal complaint about the documentary had been lodged with Ofcom. This prompted a robust response from Channel 4, which said: "We believe the offensive views expressed by the people revealed in the programme speak for themselves. We didnt put these words into peoples mouths and all extracts were carefully contextualised. On the 21st June 08, as part of the anniversary of the now famous 1997 McLibel court case in which two campaigners were sued by the McDonalds Corporation for distributing a leaflet critical of the company, campaigners entered the McDonalds in Rose Crescent, Cambridge. After being removed from the restaurant by police a campaigner was approached and his details requested. He gave his name and address but was told if he did not give his date of birth he would be arrested under Section 5 of the Public Order Act. He refused, as he believes that a person is only required to give their name and address for the purpose of a summons and no additional details. He was subsequently arrested under Section 5 of the Public Order Act. The arrest got public attention with people making use of their cameras and coming up to take leaflets. He has been charged and bailed to attend Cambridge Magistrates -- Narey -- Court 613 -- Magistrates Court at 43 Hauxton Road, Cambridge on the 3rd July at 9.30 am -- ANY SUPPORT APPRECIATED. The protesters hoped to highlight the issues that originally comprised the leaflet that led to the court case ranging from animal farming to environmental degradation. Firstly, Id like to say that that the overwhelming majority of Greater Manchester Police officers that supervise Anonymous protests against the Church, or Cult, of Scientology are warm, engaging and fair. I couldnt praise them more. However, on the May 10 2008 International Protest against Scientology a mounted police officer (Police Constable Price) and decided to Physically Assault and Verbally Attack over 200 Peaceful Protesters. He confiscated my poster because it showed a picture of Lisa McPherson purporting to be acting under section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986. He even impounded the poster after Id covered up the picture of Lisa. PC Price then aggressively moved the entire protest from its location outside the Scientology building into an obscure side street. He announced that if we didnt move, he would end the protest and arrest everybody who refused to leave. Liberty (and Greater Manchester Police) later confirmed that PC Price did not have the authority to do this. The hostility of this officer frightened many of the younger female protesters. After the protest was moved, I approached PC Price. In the course of a verbal exchange PC Price violently and without reason grabbed hold of my arm and dragged me to the other side of Deansgate. Even in the United States, despite the opinion of some, free speech is not absolute. Some restrictions have to be created in order to protect the safety and certain rights of others. However, in the United States there is no right not to be offended. The infamous extremists of the Westboro Baptist Church protesting homosexuality at the funerals of fallen service members angers people on all sides of the political spectrum. While some believe there should be boundaries between these protesters and the grieving families, very few argue that they have no right to express their hateful views. Voltaire's famous and eloquent defense of tolerance and freedom of speech, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it," has become a reflective theme in America. Freedom of speech doesn't seem to be as clear cut in the UK The Guardian informs us of an unnamed fifteen-year-old that was served a summons from the City of London for using the word "cult" on a sign to describe the Church of Scientology during a peaceful demonstration protesting the controversial religion. There has been an understandable outrage throughout the world over this incident, but the police were not outside the bounds of doing their job of enforcing the law. It is also important to note that their Human Rights Act Article Ten, granting freedom of expression, is much more specific in allowing restrictions for various reasons than our own Constitution. A peaceful place to live other than a few neighbours who have no consideration for others, Continious daily barking, non stop. If your the owner of a dog in an estate please consider the people living around you. You may be away all day and not have to endure this. Consideration goes a long way in a small community. Unapproachable neighbours who own dogs like these have no cosideration for their neighbours around them. This video is intended to highlight the discomfort and public annoyance that this dog creates on a daily basis for the residents and in no way is it intended as an invasion of privicy nor does it at any point display any reference, footage or materials related to minors or young children as outlined in some of the comments below. Control of Dogs act 1986. Excessive dog barking that causes a nuisance is an offence. The District Court can make an order requiring the reduction of excessive barking by a dog, can limit the number of dogs that can be kept on a premises or can direct that a dog be delivered to a dog warden as an unwanted dog. You can make a complaint about excessive barking to the District Court under Noise Regulations. Before you do this, you must first inform the dog owner of your intention by completing a special form under the Control of Dogs Act, 1986. These forms are available from your local authority.
