The Egyptian army has given politicians 48 hours to meet the demands of the people and resolve the ongoing political crisis in the African country.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said in a Monday statement that if political forces fail to agree to the popular demands, the military will offer its own road map to end the crisis. The military warning comes after the opposition set July 2 as a deadline for President Mohamed Morsi to step down.

The massive protests on Sunday came on the first anniversary of Morsi\'s inauguration as president following the 2011 revolution that toppled the Western-backed regime of Hosni Mubarak.

The demonstrators are angry at Morsi\'s handling of the economy and failure to fulfill his electoral promises.

TV9 - Terror strikes Srinagar, eight jawans killed...!

Twelve others injured in second such attack in J&K in three days; Manmohan to go ahead with scheduled visit.
Barely 24 hours before PM Manmohan Singh\'s scheduled visit to Srinagar, terror visited Kashmir on Monday. Eight army soldiers were killed and a dozen others, including a CRPF personnel, injured after Hizbul Mujahideen militants carried out two audacious attacks on security forces. This was the second such attack in three days.

The police said terrorists first struck at 4.30pm near Classic Hospital at Hyderpora Bypass when an army convoy of 35-Rashtriya Rifles was on its way to Baramulla. The militants, who were hiding in the bylanes, began firing indiscriminately on an army vehicle from both sides of the Bypass. The vehicle had possibly separated from the main convoy and was moving ahead when it was ambushed.

The massive protests on Sunday came on the first anniversary of Morsi's inauguration as president following the 2011 revolution that toppled the Western-backed regime of Hosni Mubarak. The demonstrators are angry at Morsi's handling of the economy and failure to fulfill his electoral promises. TV9 - Terror strikes Srinagar, eight jawans killed...! Twelve others injured in second such attack in J&K; in three days; Manmohan to go ahead with scheduled visit. Barely 24 hours before PM Manmohan Singh's scheduled visit to Srinagar, terror visited Kashmir on Monday. "The terrorists ambushed the vehicles and resorted to heavy firing. They also hurled grenades," said a police officer. The casualties could have been more had the alert CRPF personnel on duty at the Hyderpora flyover not fired at the militants. "Our naka party fired back which forced the militants to take retreat," said Nalin Prabhat, IG CRPF (North and South Kashmir). The army cordoned off the area to flush out militants who escaped in the narrow bylanes. "The terrorists fled on a motorcycle towards Barzulla where they were intercepted and a brief exchange of fire took place. A CRPF personnel and a policeman were injured," said the officer. The terrorists managed to escape from there, but left behind the motorcycle which has now been seized by the police. Jammu & Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah said the attack is an attempt by militants to boost the morale of its cadres. "Just spoke to the Corps Commander to express my condolences for the loss of the of the army men in the attack today. Such high profile attacks are aimed at restoring the shattered morale of the militants while trying to demoralise the security forces," he tweeted. Monday's attack comes after militants killed two policemen in Srinagar on Saturday.
