Antonioni, Blow Up (1966) POV Fallacy
Scene close to the end of the movie. David Hemmings returns to the park, kneels down and finds that the corpse he projected in the blow-ups of his pictures is not there. He looks up, and we see a shot of tree branches. The camera moves down, and suddenly Hemmings steps into the frame.
Were we fooled, or is Antonioni pointing out that Hemmings' assumptions, as well as our own, did not agree with what is actually there?

Blow-up - Photoshooting scene
Blowup is a 1966 British-Italian art film directed by Michelangelo Antonioni, his first to feature an English language screenplay and also the first British film to feature full frontal female nudity.
As a famous fashion photographer, Thomas mixes with the rich and famous. But he is disillusioned with his work and rich lifestyle, where even casual sex is mechanical and contrived. Then one day he secretly takes photos of two lovers in a park. The woman of the couple pursues him; eventually finding his apartment and trying to seduce him for the film. This leads Thomas to investigate the film, making blowups (enlargements) of the photos. This seems to reveal a body, but the director cleverly used the heavy film grain and black & white imagery to obscure the image. This drives Thomas to keep making blowups and try to find the truth.
This scene is from the fashion photoshoot. An amazing look at Swinging London, 60's Models, and Fashion.

Theme from Blowup (1966) Antonioni/ Hancock
Blowup (1966) is a film by Michaelangelo Antonioni set in the world of 1960s glamour photography when London was at its fashionable height. On the surface the story is a murder-mystery but as the plot progresses it becomes a mystery on a deeper level as Antonioni highlights how subjective and unreliable all perception is in making sense of the world. In this sense the theme is timeless and extends outside its 1960s origins to any period.
I think it's a rather bleak film film that people tend to love or hate but it was also very influential and has to be among my favourites.
