Somiya Mathur lives a middle-class lifestyle with her dad and mom in Mumbai. At the age of five her parents go through a bitter divorce and she moves out to live with her mom. After she matures, her mom passes away, and she swears never to see her dad again. She rents a room with a middle-aged couple, who she calls 'Aai' and 'Baba', and is friendly with Niti, who runs a restaurant. Somiya decides to enter in a beauty contest, competes, and is crowned the city's beauty queen. This gets her unwanted attention from a strange male, and a wealthy bachelor, Karan Malhotra, comes to her rescue. Both fall in love with each other and get married. They live an idyllic, wealthy, and harmonious lifestyle, and a few years later they become parents of a girl, Sarah. When Sarah is of school-going age, Somiya gets a phone call from a woman named Ruby, passionately asking for Karan's company. When she questions Karan, he readily admits to having an affair with her but promises to not have to do anything with her again. The next day she smells another woman's perfume on Karan's clothes and when confronted, he assaults her. The abuse continues and he forbids her to leave the house. She seeks the help of Niti and her former landlords, and manages to escape. An enraged Karan hires goons, advertises in the newspapers, as well as seeks the active cooperation of his Police Inspector friend, Bhaskar Shetty, and he knows it will not be long before he finds his highly visible, attractive 5'10" wife and daughter.

Underworld Don, Kaalkeshwar Singh, has a problem on his hands when he is confronted with a fellow criminal gangster, who wants more than his share. During this confrontation, Albert pulls a gun to shoot Kaalkeshwar, but due to the intervention of Arjun, Albert himself gets killed, and a grateful Kaalkeshwar asks Arjun to spend some time on his estate in the country. Kaalkeshwar finds out that Arjun's girlfriend, Maria, had been molested by Albert, and had then killed herself. Arjun has thus avenged her death. Kaalkeshwar introduces him to his wife, Monica, who is very subdued and submissive. Quite unknown to Arjun, Kaalkeshwar is very possessive of his wife, and had even killed a man at a party just for shaking hands and complimenting her. When Kaalkeshwar comes to know that Arjun and Monica are having an affair, one can well imagine his wrath - for there is no telling what Arjun's fate is going to be - after Kaalkeshwar is done with him.

When an honest police inspector Srivastav attempts to expose JK he is framed and evidences are tampered with so he is unable to prove his innocence, an as a result he commit suicide by hanging himself leaving his wife and son behind. Years later his son grows up an become a police inspector like his dad; inspector Vijay Kumar Srivastav; but is very much different from his dad by turning a blind eye to criminal activities, never serious with his job and accept huge sums of money to let off petty crooks. The talk of the town is a man in black clothing who calls himself "Shahenshah"; he operates as a Judge in the night, giving a verdict against his victims and killing them in a Executioner style. It looks like this man will get his hands on JK before the police does and might as well ruin the image of corrupt police inspector like Vijay Kumar Srivastav.

On a chilly foggy night two men alight from a train at an isolated railway station, and stay for a night at the Dak Bangla. One of these men is Ajay Sachdev, and the other is Prem Kumar Chopra. Shortly after their arrival, a series of brutal murders shake up the region. The mysteries behind these murders are compounded by the appearance of a white Saree-clad female apparition, which appears and disappears at will. And ghostly cries are heard from a nearby graveyard. The police are involved and their investigation results in the arrest of a suspect, Ajay, who had a motive, and was present during all the deaths, but they have no answers as to the apparition and the cries from the graveyard. Ajay is arrested, but subsequently escapes, leaving this small community fearing for their lives - both from Ajay - and the unknown horror that awaits each of them.

In order to accumulate wealth quickly he borrows Rs.1000/- from Bonni, who, in turn had stolen it from his employer, and invests it with a black-marketeer-hotelier, Rambabu. Shortly thereafter his investment returns him Rs.5000/- and he is not only able to return the loan but is able to live a better lifestyle. Unhappy with this success, he tries his hand at blackmail and extortion and gets even more wealthy. When he is told that Rambabu and he may be exposed by the media - they get together with others in the group and, in the midst of an epidemic, hire a contract killer to kill the journalist responsible for exposing them.

Event - International Seminar on Philosophy of Education, Bangalore Date - 23-Jan-2013 Speaker - Alok Mathur, Head of Rishi Valley Institute for Teacher Education, Rishi Valley Institute, Andhra Pradesh, India Abstract - This paper identifies key educational questions that the philosopher and peripatetic teacher, J. Krishnamurti, enjoined his audiences to engage with, and indicates how his inquiry into the human condition finds expression in the setting-up of schools located in varied geographical and cultural contexts. The aims of these schools and the values and practices that flow out of these aims are briefly discussed in the context of Krishnamurti's approach to the complex and urgent crises experienced by peoples across the globe. The paper posits two interconnected and generative notions deriving from Krishnamurti's educational work: 'philosophy in practice' and 'school as a center of inquiry'. The meanings of these notions are explored in a school setting, along with implications for the lives of students and teachers in the contemporary world. 'Philosophy in practice' is shown to have multiple possible meanings in the context of a school, which are however tied together by a few distinctive and vitalizing features. As it manifests in schools, 'philosophy in practice' is seen as being generative across the poles of 'vision' and 'present awareness'. The possibility of the emergence of 'philosophy in practice' is however contingent upon the structuring of the school as an institution, and is directly influenced by the axes of authority-autonomy on one hand and that of competition-cooperation on the other. The notion of 'school as a center of inquiry' is shown to be the cumulative resultant of the emergence of 'philosophy in practice' at multiple levels in the school -- individual as well as collective. It encompasses in its ambit a range of inquiries, from curriculum, school practices and discipline, to a widening engagement with individual, social, environmental and global issues that a school community is willing to become cognizant of. The paper attempts to place these notions in the wider framework of the calls for educational reform and renewal in the 21st century.
