Abingdon School is a British day and boarding independent school for boys situated on Park Road, Abingdon, Oxfordshire next to Albert Park. (formerly in Berkshire), previously known as Roysse's School. In 1998 a formal merger took place between Abingdon School and Josca's, a preparatory school four miles to the west at Frilford. Since September 2007 Josca's has been known as Abingdon Preparatory School with both schools becoming part of the Abingdon Foundation. There are strong connections with the nearby School of St Helen and St Katharine in Abingdon. It is at least the twentieth oldest independent British school (possibly the sixth) and celebrated its 750th anniversary in 2006. Its fees were, in 2012/2013, £10,350 (full boarding), £8,920 (weekly boarding) and £5,047 (day) per term.
The Good Schools Guide called it 'An impressive school which does what it sets out to do well,' also noting that it was 'Likely to increase in popularity because of its location and increasingly sparkly achievements', while The Times described it as 'an elite boys’ boarding school'.
Abingdon Boys School (stylized as abingdon boys school) is a Japanese rock band fronted by Takanori Nishikawa.
Formed in 2005, the band shares a name with the British independent school Abingdon School, in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, the all-male school where the rock band Radiohead was established.
Abingdon Boys School began in 2005 when Takanori Nishikawa, known for his pop music as TM Revolution, decided to return to his rock roots in Luis-Mary with guitarist Sunao. They were introduced to guitarist Hiroshi Shibasaki (ex-Wands) and continued to discuss forming a band until an offer came to record a song for manga series Nana. The three presented a demo to producer Toshiyuki Kishi who became the fourth member of the band.
The origin of the name comes from a combination of Nishikawa's love of cars' anti-lock braking system and the resemblance of the initials to the pronunciation of the Tokyo district Ebisu where the band practiced. When searching on the internet for a backronym Nishikawa discovered Abingdon School and the connection to Radiohead, who's members are of the same generation. A.B.S are also all from the same generation and each fell in love with music when they were in school, so they thought "it would be cool if we could go back to that feeling again."
Atsushi Sakurai (櫻井 敦司, Sakurai Atsushi?, born March 7, 1966 in Fujioka, Gunma, Japan) is a Japanese musician and singer-songwriter. He has been the vocalist for the rock band Buck-Tick since 1985, previously being their drummer from 1983. He was also a member of Schwein with Hisashi Imai (Buck-Tick), Sascha Konietzko (KMFDM) and Raymond Watts (PIG).
Originally Atsushi was the drummer for Buck-Tick. When the members graduated high school and moved to Tokyo, Atsushi's parents would not let him go too. He then asked Toll Yagami if he could be the singer for his band SP, but was declined. Eventually he ended up switching to vocalist of Buck-Tick, after the band fired Araki.
His last name was originally written with the first kanji as "桜" (Sakura), but when his mother died in 1990 he changed it to "櫻", the older version. He also wrote "Long Distance Call" about his mother's death. He married Buck-Tick's stylist in 1991, but divorced a year later, they have one child. He married again in 2004.
