Jason D. Harrow (born May 12, 1976), better known by his stage name Kardinal Offishall /kɑːrdᵻˈnæl oʊfᵻˈʃæl/, is a Canadian rapper, record producer, and record executive. Often credited as Canada's "hip hop ambassador", he is regarded as one of the country's best hip hop producers, and is best known for his distinctive reggae and dancehall-influenced style of hip hop.
A native of Toronto, Offishall began his career in the city's mid-1990s underground hip hop scene, as a member of The Circle. He released several independent 12" singles, a debut album (Eye & I), and an EP (Husslin'), before signing with major label MCA Records in 2000. The following year, Offishall released his second album, Quest for Fire: Firestarter, Vol. 1, spawning the Billboard hit "BaKardi Slang", which popularized Toronto's nickname "T-dot", and the minor hit "Ol' Time Killin'"; both singles became his signature songs. After failing to release the Firestarter Vol. 2 album in 2003, on MCA, and later Geffen Records (which absorbed MCA), Offishall briefly returned to the underground scene, releasing several more independent 12" singles.
The Much Music Video Awards (also known as (the) MMVA or MMVAs, and originally named the Canadian Music Video Awards before 1995) are annual awards presented by the Canadian TV channel Much to honour the year's best music videos.
In their modern form, the awards ceremony is not held in a conventional theatre, but instead as a large street party incorporating the Much Headquarters, its parking lot, and parts of Queen Street West in downtown Toronto, Ontario. There are no hosts or announcers in the traditional awards-show fashion; instead, the Much VJs are an integral part of the festivities, introducing (and interviewing) the awards' presenters and winners throughout the show. As with many modern awards shows (such as the MTV Video Music Awards), many presenters and performers may have little or no connection to the music industry or that year's nominees. Winners of a Much Music Video Award receive a statue made by New York firm, Society Awards.
Each year, MMVA viewers are encouraged to visit the website to vote for the Fan Fave category which includes Video, Artist or Group, and International Artist or Group.

Akon sat down in Dubai with Brent Black and had some surprising things to say about the US presidential election, Donald Trump, and why he got rid of his Lamborghinis and expensive jewelry. Akon was in Dubai celebrating the launch of a new app called Tulwe, which discovers new talent around the world.
Akon stopped by to talk with VladTV about his light up Africa Project, how he used to live without electricity, and how the politics of starting his project were extremely tricky. Akon let us know that he grew up in Senegal a small country on the West coast of Africa. Akon grew up without electricity and running water, and when it came time to eat, cook, or wash he had to use the same water from a running water well for everything. "When I came to the United States, and [saw] the projects or what they claimed to be projects, Vlad I thought they was living in luxury, compared to what poverty is back home..." Akon explained that the US citizens have it a lot better than others around the world. So what led to Akon lighting up Africa? His grandmother was the main inspiration. He explained sh...

Dolapo Aina's The Interview Series With Akon at COP22 Marrakech, Morocco. Interview was conducted on Monday, the 14th of November 2016
I'll be writing till I'm dead or maybe till I'm alive
All the emptiness I've bled has only helped me survive
Something melted inside when the tones hit my pulse
And stifled the idle eagerness to grow into my clothes
No one that I know is any longer good at actin'
Like they comprehend the motive uncoated to feed the corroded passion
Actually needs to stay eye level with the rest
That's the least I deserve for the love that I've shed
I've trudged through the sediment in search of the rhythm
Dove soul first to bathe nude in its abyss
Paid dues and made music my religion
Now I listen, close my eyes, and forget I even exist
I sing a bastard's tune, inspired by the noise
The ship made before it sank and was finally destroyed
I flaunt the grin of a man made for disguising a boy
Who tried to avoid showing the cry in his voice
But there's something special about the notes that he hears
Those scales are redemption, unraveling repressed memories
And when he breathes, a new energy enters and consumes him
To heal his wounds and unseal his doom
If only I could make you understand
But words are just words so I can't
The universe's deepest art form keeps my heart warm with influence
I tell ya
Ain't nothing quite as beautiful as Music
To be an angel, you gotta earn your wings
To control your own, you gotta burn your strings
To hit blackjack, you gotta turn a king
But to live forever, all you gotta do is learn to sing
I get a pleasure that's inevitably immeasurable
And I won't let it be rejected by no man
Why does it have to be so damn difficult
To live in the frame of a game that will slit your throat?
But I've dug in the mud in search of the drum
Dove soul first to bathe nude in its abyss
Stayed true to the music, now my favorite thing to do is
Close my eyes and forget that I even exist
I hold this fistful of degenerate ideas
For every genius that was murdered in the name of Jesus
Still deaf to the bells that claimed to free us
But I pay homage to my melody 'cause she's the sweetest
The core of our spirit is naked
The form of its lyrics are sacred
Blanketed by the original sound of the inner vibrations
I'm floating on the soft clouds of positive creation
See, I can look at a painting and admire the colors
Or appreciate any type of art that I discover
But what I dig's invisible
It's my teacher and I'm its student
I tell ya
