With two full days in Luxembourg City we spent our time wisely exploring as much of the city as possible. The follow is a city guide to Luxembourg City featuring all of the top attractions and best things to do in this complete travel guide:

Well, welcome to Luxembourg! The only Grand Duchy in the world. Over the next few days we're going to be exploring the capital of Luxembourg City and this is going to be a little city guide to show you some of the highlights.
Located smack dab in between Germany, France, and Belgium, the little Grand Duchy of Luxembourg can be easy to miss if you're not looking carefully, however, we're of the opinion that this is a beautiful destination that you'll definitely want to make time for. From picturesque neighbourhoods with cream coloured walls, to dazzling views of blue rooftops in the Old Town below, Luxembourg City is a charming destination that you'll want to add to your European itinerary.
So this hear is the Corniche and it is a pedestrian promenade which has been called the most beautiful balcony in all of Europe because it gets some spectacular views of the old town.
So we are now entering the Bock Casemates and apparently this was the old fortification of Luxemborg and it was known as the Gibraltar of the north.
This was once one of the most envied fortresses in all of Europe and stretched out like a web for several kilometers across the city.
Right now we're visiting the Three Towers which are remnants of an old fortress.
We've been walking around a neighborhood called the Grund which is directly below the city center. And it is really picturesque and without tourists. No one is wandering around these little lanes and streets.
So behind me we have Saint Michael's church which is the oldest church in Luxembourg. The first church to be built on this spot dates back to the year 987, however, the church was destroyed, rebuilt, and renovated many times over the centuries.
The Palace houses the Grand Duke's office and during the summer months you can even gain access to the building if you pre-book a guided tour.
There is no shortage of museums in Luxembourg City, so we took some time to visit the National Museum of Art and History.
Luxembourg offers a nice network of pedestrian streets where you can shop and even do a little bit of people watching.
We are now looking at the Passerelle which is Luxembourg's very own viaduct.
So we are now standing in William Square which is a really popular spot on Sundays and Wednesdays because local vendors setup shop and they sell all kinds of things from fresh produce, to flowers, street snacks.
So final thoughts of Luxembourg. Alright, to wrap things up here it was a really cool city. It is the type of city that you can explore in just one or two days. A weekend type of destination because a lot of the attractions are nearby one another. And we just found it a very easy city to get around in on foot.
So as a little travel tip if you're planning on being in the city for a few days we really recommend the Luxembourg Card. This is what we used while we were here and it is really good for public transportation across the city. Across the country actually and you also get access to seventy different galleries, museums, historic attractions and it is not that expensive. I mean it depends on whether you get a family or an individual card but we really recommend it because we made a lot of use of it.

1. With an average income of around 3200€ Luxembourgers are among the wealthiest people of the world. Luxembourg evolved into a major financial center. Today, there are about 150 banks in a country that’s smaller than the state of Rhode Island. Its reputation as a tax haven made it attractive to all kinds of foreign investment. Amazon and Skype have headquarters there.
2. In their 2015 World Happiness Report, the United Nations ranked Luxembourg number 17 out of 158, not bad for a country with a population of about half a million. The report cites the high GDP, which translates into purchasing power, as the biggest factor. The country is very generous with its citizens, spending about 1/3 of its revenue on social services and universal, free health care.
3. Luxembourg has enough castles to equal one per every 250 km2. Of the 110 that are known to have existed in the Middle Ages, about 75 still stand. Many are open to the public. Obviously, tourism in Luxembourg is a major source of income, since there are plenty of things to do and see in this tiny country, that can hardly be found on the map.
4. The weather in Luxembourg is basically temperate, but it can be cloudy a considerable amount of the time. Landlocked Luxembourg has the equivalent of about 61 days of sun per year. The temperature rarely goes above 28C. They don’t actually have a dry season, so expect rain, especially if you’re going in the cooler months.
5. The northern part of Luxembourg, called Eisleck, is hilly and heavily forested. The Ardennes conservation region, near the Belgian border in the north, offers fabulous views onto the rolling valleys below. If you're looking for more of the metropolitan scene, the true action can be found in the south, in Gutland, where about 85% of the people live. This is where the city of Luxembourg, the capital of Luxembourg can be found.
6. Luxembourgers speak German and French, but the language they learn as children is Luxembourgish. People switch among the three fluidly. A child might speak German in class and Luxembourgish on the playground, and French is considered the most upscale of the three. Newspapers and websites will mix them on the same page.
7. It’s The Only Grand Duchy Left In The World. Luxembourg was founded in 963, when Count Siegfried bought the fortress of Luxembourg from the Holy Roman Empire. It has a complicated history, but today it’s a hereditary constitutional monarchy, headed by Grand Duke Henri Albert Gabriel Félix Marie Guillaume.

Although the capital city of Luxembourg is not particularly large, its layout is complex, as the city is set on several levels, straddling hills and dropping into the two gorges.
The 70 m (230 ft) deep gorges are spanned by many bridges and viaducts.
The city, because of its location and natural geography, has through history been a place of strategic military significance. The first fortifications were built as early as the 10th century.
The Casemates Bock is a network of underground fortifications, built in the 18th century, that tunnel under the city. The fortifications and environs are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Luxembourg City is a seat of several institutions of the European Union, including the European Court of Justice, the European Court of Auditors, and the European Investment Bank.

I'm sharing with you guys my personal point of view about advantages and disadvantages of Luxembourg.
I've been living in Luxembourg for about two years. From the one hand this country has a lot of pluses such as multilinguisme, high level of life, compact size and others. From the other hand, for people who love big cities and are used to their rythm of life, Luxembourg might not be the best option. The other thing that I didn't mention in the video is that people with creative professions like journalists for instance will have a hard time to get a job here as Luxembourg is more about banks and IT.

Luxembourg City is a commune with city status, and the capital of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. It is located at the confluence of the Alzette and Pétrusse Rivers in southern Luxembourg.
Luxembourg City lies at the heart of Western Europe, situated 213 km (132 mi) by road from Brussels, 372 km (231 mi) from Paris, 209 km (130 mi) from Cologne, and 65 km (40 mi) from Metz in northeast France.
Luxembourg City is the seat of several institutions of the European Union, including the European Court of Justice, the European Commission, the secretariat of the European Parliament, the European Court of Auditors and the European Investment Bank. The majority of these institutions are located in the Kirchberg quarter, in the northeast of the city.
In 2009, Luxembourg was ranked as having the third highest GDP - per capita at $79,600 (US Dollars) with the city having developed into a banking and administrative centre. It is a seat of several institutions of the European Union, including the European Court of Justice, the European Court of Auditors, and the European Investment Bank.
The commune of Luxembourg City covers a total area of over 51 km2 (19.69 sq mi), or 2% of the Grand Duchy's total area. More information about the video content bellow: 1. With an average income of around 3200€ Luxembourgers are among the wealthiest people of the world. Luxembourg evolved into a major financial center. Today, there are about 150 banks in a country that’s smaller than the state of Rhode Island. Its reputation as a tax haven made it attractive to all kinds of foreign investment. Amazon and Skype have headquarters there. 2. In their 2015 World Happiness Report, the United Nations ranked Luxembourg number 17 out of 158, not bad for a country with a population of about half a million. The report cites the high GDP, which translates into purchasing power, as the biggest factor. The country is very generous with its citizens, spending about 1/3 of its revenue on social services and universal, free health care. 3. Luxembourg has enough castles to equal one per every 250 km2. Of the 110 that are known to have existed in the Middle Ages, about 75 still stand. Many are open to the public. Obviously, tourism in Luxembourg is a major source of income, since there are plenty of things to do and see in this tiny country, that can hardly be found on the map. 4. The weather in Luxembourg is basically temperate, but it can be cloudy a considerable amount of the time. Landlocked Luxembourg has the equivalent of about 61 days of sun per year. The temperature rarely goes above 28C. They don’t actually have a dry season, so expect rain, especially if you’re going in the cooler months. 5. The northern part of Luxembourg, called Eisleck, is hilly and heavily forested. The Ardennes conservation region, near the Belgian border in the north, offers fabulous views onto the rolling valleys below. If you're looking for more of the metropolitan scene, the true action can be found in the south, in Gutland, where about 85% of the people live. This is where the city of Luxembourg, the capital of Luxembourg can be found. 6. Luxembourgers speak German and French, but the language they learn as children is Luxembourgish. People switch among the three fluidly. A child might speak German in class and Luxembourgish on the playground, and French is considered the most upscale of the three. Newspapers and websites will mix them on the same page. 7. It’s The Only Grand Duchy Left In The World. Luxembourg was founded in 963, when Count Siegfried bought the fortress of Luxembourg from the Holy Roman Empire. It has a complicated history, but today it’s a hereditary constitutional monarchy, headed by Grand Duke Henri Albert Gabriel Félix Marie Guillaume. Although the capital city of Luxembourg is not particularly large, its layout is complex, as the city is set on several levels, straddling hills and dropping into the two gorges. The 70 m (230 ft) deep gorges are spanned by many bridges and viaducts. The city, because of its location and natural geography, has through history been a place of strategic military significance. The first fortifications were built as early as the 10th century. The Casemates Bock is a network of underground fortifications, built in the 18th century, that tunnel under the city. The fortifications and environs are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Luxembourg City is a seat of several institutions of the European Union, including the European Court of Justice, the European Court of Auditors, and the European Investment Bank. I'm sharing with you guys my personal point of view about advantages and disadvantages of Luxembourg. I've been living in Luxembourg for about two years. From the one hand this country has a lot of pluses such as multilinguisme, high level of life, compact size and others. From the other hand, for people who love big cities and are used to their rythm of life, Luxembourg might not be the best option. The other thing that I didn't mention in the video is that people with creative professions like journalists for instance will have a hard time to get a job here as Luxembourg is more about banks and IT. Luxembourg City is a commune with city status, and the capital of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. It is located at the confluence of the Alzette and Pétrusse Rivers in southern Luxembourg. Luxembourg City lies at the heart of Western Europe, situated 213 km (132 mi) by road from Brussels, 372 km (231 mi) from Paris, 209 km (130 mi) from Cologne, and 65 km (40 mi) from Metz in northeast France. Luxembourg City is the seat of several institutions of the European Union, including the European Court of Justice, the European Commission, the secretariat of the European Parliament, the European Court of Auditors and the European Investment Bank. The majority of these institutions are located in the Kirchberg quarter, in the northeast of the city. In 2009, Luxembourg was ranked as having the third highest GDP - per capita at $79,600 (US Dollars) with the city having developed into a banking and administrative centre. It is a seat of several institutions of the European Union, including the European Court of Justice, the European Court of Auditors, and the European Investment Bank. The commune of Luxembourg City covers a total area of over 51 km2 (19.69 sq mi), or 2% of the Grand Duchy's total area. This makes the city the fourth-largest commune in Luxembourg, and by far the largest urban area. Although the capital city of Luxembourg is not particularly large, its layout is complex, as the city is set on several levels, straddling hills and dropping into the two gorges. LIFE IN LUXEMBOURG: Advantages And Disadvantages
I'm sharing with you guys my personal point of view about advantages and disadvantages of Luxembourg. I've been living in Luxembourg for about two years. From the one hand this country has a lot of pluses such as multilinguisme, high level of life, compact size and others. From the other hand, for people who love big cities and are used to their rythm of life, Luxembourg might not be the best option. The other thing that I didn't mention in the video is that people with creative professions like journalists for instance will have a hard time to get a job here as Luxembourg is more about banks and IT. Well, welcome to Luxembourg! The only Grand Duchy in the world. Over the next few days we're going to be exploring the capital of Luxembourg City and this is going to be a little city guide to show you some of the highlights.
Located smack dab in between Germany, France, and Belgium, the little Grand Duchy of Luxembourg can be easy to miss if you're not looking carefully, however, we're of the opinion that this is a beautiful destination that you'll definitely want to make time for. From picturesque neighbourhoods with cream coloured walls, to dazzling views of blue rooftops in the Old Town below, Luxembourg City is a charming destination that you'll want to add to your European itinerary.
So this hear is the Corniche and it is a pedestrian promenade which has been called the most beautiful balcony in all of Europe because it gets some spectacular views of the old town.
So we are now entering the Bock Casemates and apparently this was the old fortification of Luxemborg and it was known as the Gibraltar of the north.
This was once one of the most envied fortresses in all of Europe and stretched out like a web for several kilometers across the city.
Right now we're visiting the Three Towers which are remnants of an old fortress.
We've been walking around a neighborhood called the Grund which is directly below the city center. And it is really picturesque and without tourists. No one is wandering around these little lanes and streets.
So behind me we have Saint Michael's church which is the oldest church in Luxembourg. The first church to be built on this spot dates back to the year 987, however, the church was destroyed, rebuilt, and renovated many times over the centuries.
The Palace houses the Grand Duke's office and during the summer months you can even gain access to the building if you pre-book a guided tour.
There is no shortage of museums in Luxembourg City, so we took some time to visit the National Museum of Art and History.
Luxembourg offers a nice network of pedestrian streets where you can shop and even do a little bit of people watching.
We are now looking at the Passerelle which is Luxembourg's very own viaduct.
So we are now standing in William Square which is a really popular spot on Sundays and Wednesdays because local vendors setup shop and they sell all kinds of things from fresh produce, to flowers, street snacks.
So final thoughts of Luxembourg. Alright, to wrap things up here it was a really cool city. It is the type of city that you can explore in just one or two days. A weekend type of destination because a lot of the attractions are nearby one another. And we just found it a very easy city to get around in on foot.
So as a little travel tip if you're planning on being in the city for a few days we really recommend the Luxembourg Card. This is what we used while we were here and it is really good for public transportation across the city. Across the country actually and you also get access to seventy different galleries, museums, historic attractions and it is not that expensive. I mean it depends on whether you get a family or an individual card but we really recommend it because we made a lot of use of it.

1. With an average income of around 3200€ Luxembourgers are among the wealthiest people of the world. Luxembourg evolved into a major financial center. Today, there are about 150 banks in a country that’s smaller than the state of Rhode Island. Its reputation as a tax haven made it attractive to all kinds of foreign investment. Amazon and Skype have headquarters there.
2. In their 2015 World Happiness Report, the United Nations ranked Luxembourg number 17 out of 158, not bad for a country with a population of about half a million. The report cites the high GDP, which translates into purchasing power, as the biggest factor. The country is very generous with its citizens, spending about 1/3 of its revenue on social services and universal, free health care.
3. Luxembourg has enough castles to equal one per every 250 km2. Of the 110 that are known to have existed in the Middle Ages, about 75 still stand. Many are open to the public. Obviously, tourism in Luxembourg is a major source of income, since there are plenty of things to do and see in this tiny country, that can hardly be found on the map.
4. The weather in Luxembourg is basically temperate, but it can be cloudy a considerable amount of the time. Landlocked Luxembourg has the equivalent of about 61 days of sun per year. The temperature rarely goes above 28C. They don’t actually have a dry season, so expect rain, especially if you’re going in the cooler months.
5. The northern part of Luxembourg, called Eisleck, is hilly and heavily forested. The Ardennes conservation region, near the Belgian border in the north, offers fabulous views onto the rolling valleys below. If you're looking for more of the metropolitan scene, the true action can be found in the south, in Gutland, where about 85% of the people live. This is where the city of Luxembourg, the capital of Luxembourg can be found.
6. Luxembourgers speak German and French, but the language they learn as children is Luxembourgish. People switch among the three fluidly. A child might speak German in class and Luxembourgish on the playground, and French is considered the most upscale of the three. Newspapers and websites will mix them on the same page.
7. It’s The Only Grand Duchy Left In The World. Luxembourg was founded in 963, when Count Siegfried bought the fortress of Luxembourg from the Holy Roman Empire. It has a complicated history, but today it’s a hereditary constitutional monarchy, headed by Grand Duke Henri Albert Gabriel Félix Marie Guillaume.

The Casemates Bock is a network of underground fortifications, built in the 18th century, that tunnel under the city. The fortifications and environs are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Luxembourg City is a seat of several institutions of the European Union, including the European Court of Justice, the European Court of Auditors, and the European Investment Bank.

I'm sharing with you guys my personal point of view about advantages and disadvantages of Luxembourg.
I've been living in Luxembourg for about two years. From the one hand this country has a lot of pluses such as multilinguisme, high level of life, compact size and others. From the other hand, for people who love big cities and are used to their rythm of life, Luxembourg might not be the best option. The other thing that I didn't mention in the video is that people with creative professions like journalists for instance will have a hard time to get a job here as Luxembourg is more about banks and IT.

Luxembourg City lies at the heart of Western Europe, situated 213 km (132 mi) by road from Brussels, 372 km (231 mi) from Paris, 209 km (130 mi) from Cologne, and 65 km (40 mi) from Metz in northeast France.
Luxembourg City is the seat of several institutions of the European Union, including the European Court of Justice, the European Commission, the secretariat of the European Parliament, the European Court of Auditors and the European Investment Bank. The majority of these institutions are located in the Kirchberg quarter, in the northeast of the city.
In 2009, Luxembourg was ranked as having the third highest GDP - per capita at $79,600 (US Dollars) with the city having developed into a banking and administrative centre. It is a seat of several institutions of the European Union, including the European Court of Justice, the European Court of Auditors, and the European Investment Bank.
The commune of Luxembourg City covers a total area of over 51 km2 (19.69 sq mi), or 2% of the Grand Duchy's total area. This makes the city the fourth-largest commune in Luxembourg, and by far the largest urban area. Luxembourg City is not particularly densely-populated, at under 1,500 people per km²; large areas of Luxembourg City are maintained as parks, forested areas, or sites of important heritage (particularly the UNESCO sites), while there are also large tracts of farmland that lie within the city limits.

Ok, we’re in Luxembourg, and we’re having lunch. We’re going to meet our guide in about an hour or so at the hostel here. It’s a wonderful day here in Luxembourg. It’s going to be great exploring. There’s so many castles, so much greenery here. It’s absolutely beautiful. Time to eat. National feeling comes from the fact that the Germans wanted to make Germans out of us, or the Nazis wanted to make Germans out of us. And that’s the first time the people really understood, no, we’re not French, we’re not German, we are Luxembourgs. We have a known identity, and we have a known language, but before it was not so important. Luxembourg got its independence in 1867, so it’s not that old actually. And when Belgium became independent it was 1830, it was 37 years earlier, and if you would have asked at that time, Luxembourg’s population what would you like to become, they probably would’ve voted to become Belgium. The most beautiful balcony of Europe was in Luxembourg.
Here and here and there’s one on the foot. If they polished it, right now I would slip. But it’s basically what people do. The man from the pharmacy, he didn’t like the idea of that statue so he was demonstrating against it. And the artist who did that statue, he represented himself on the accordion. He’s called William Lofi, Will Lofi, and look at the way he is placing his fingers. And it’s directed to the direction of the old pharmacy. I saw that and thought, should I say something about that? Yeah, it’s done on purpose.
We arrived in Luxembourg this morning and we met with a local guide here and he’s taken us around pretty much every attraction you have in Luxembourg. It’s been an incredible day. He’s shared so much information, so many amazing things about Luxembourg. I had no idea. The mind boggles, that is really incredible.
Luxembourg is a great place. Right now we’re standing over one of the most beautiful balconies apparently in Europe. It’s pretty incredible, I didn’t know Luxembourg was this beautiful, I didn’t know much about it at all. The architecture, the buildings the rocks, the fortresses, the bridges, it’s so picturesque here in Luxembourg. I really don’t know what else to say. I’m just pleasantly surprised and really impressed the atmosphere, the vibe that you get here in Luxembourg. Our guide gave us this—Kachkeis it’s a Luxembourg type of cheese, which you can buy in a tub. Only in Luxembourg. And apparently you spread it on toast or bread so tonight we’re going to sit out here and have [laughing]. Yeah, apparently it’s very gluey and very thick. Wow, very sticky huh? Grab some of that for your sandwich. We’re going to sit out here tonight and try a bit of this, and also some local white wine, which we’ve tasted it before, and it’s actually really nice. You got it? It’s very sticky and very gluey. Yeah. It’s got a really strong smell to it.

And when Belgium became independent it was 1830, it was 37 years earlier, and if you would have asked at that time, Luxembourg’s population what would you like to become, they probably would’ve voted to become Belgium. The most beautiful balcony of Europe was in Luxembourg.
Here and here and there’s one on the foot. If they polished it, right now I would slip. But it’s basically what people do. The man from the pharmacy, he didn’t like the idea of that statue so he was demonstrating against it. And the artist who did that statue, he represented himself on the accordion. He’s called William Lofi, Will Lofi, and look at the way he is placing his fingers. And it’s directed to the direction of the old pharmacy. I saw that and thought, should I say something about that? Yeah, it’s done on purpose.
We arrived in Luxembourg this morning and we met with a local guide here and he’s taken us around pretty much every attraction you have in Luxembourg. It’s been an incredible day. He’s shared so much information, so many amazing things about Luxembourg. I had no idea. The mind boggles, that is really incredible.
Luxembourg is a great place. Right now we’re standing over one of the most beautiful balconies apparently in Europe. It’s pretty incredible, I didn’t know Luxembourg was this beautiful, I didn’t know much about it at all. The architecture, the buildings the rocks, the fortresses, the bridges, it’s so picturesque here in Luxembourg. I really don’t know what else to say. I’m just pleasantly surprised and really impressed the atmosphere, the vibe that you get here in Luxembourg. Our guide gave us this—Kachkeis it’s a Luxembourg type of cheese, which you can buy in a tub. Only in Luxembourg. And apparently you spread it on toast or bread so tonight we’re going to sit out here and have [laughing]. Yeah, apparently it’s very gluey and very thick. Wow, very sticky huh? Grab some of that for your sandwich. We’re going to sit out here tonight and try a bit of this, and also some local white wine, which we’ve tasted it before, and it’s actually really nice. You got it? It’s very sticky and very gluey. Yeah. It’s got a really strong smell to it.
