United States
The United States of America (commonly abbreviated to the United States, the U.S., the USA, America, and the States) is a federal constitutional republic comprising fifty states and a federal district. Big Ed
Edward Lee Knight (1971–2001), best known by his stage name Big Ed (or Big Ed the Assassin), was an American rapper who was signed to Master P's No Limit Records in the late 1990s.
Knight was born in Richmond, California, and attended Eastern Washington University from 1992 to 1993 on a basketball scholarship, but dropped out to pursue a career in rap music in the Bay Area with Master P's West Coast Bad Boy Clique.
Big Ed was an original member of the rap group TRU, appearing on the group's first three albums, Who's Da Killer?, Understanding the Criminal Mind and True. Throughout the 90s, Ed had guest spots on many of No Limit's other releases such as Master P's 99 Ways to Die, Silkk the Shocker's debut The Shocker and Mia X's Unlady Like. His debut album, The Assassin, was released on September 1, 1998 and peaked at #16 on the Billboard 200 and #3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
In 2000, Big Ed left No Limit to start his own record label, Special Forces Records. He released his second album through this label, 2000's Special Forces, which featured contributions from his former No Limit labelmates.

Choppa
Darwin Turner, better known by his stage name Choppa, is a New Orleans rapper.
Choppa was contracted to several record labels. He was signed to P. Diddy's record label, Bad Boy Records, in 2005. In 2006 he signed to the record label Cash Money. He was formerly signed to Master P's No Limit Records. His most successful single was "Choppa Style", which was a typical example of bounce music and was released twice one recorded with Master P himself after signing with his label. He started his own record label Street Balla Records in 2003. In 2004 he was signed to Body Head Entertainment, the label on which he released his 2005 album Da Real Choppa and is also a member of Roy Jones Jr.'s hip hop group Body Head Bangerz. He appeared with Mike Jones and 5th Ward Weebie on the 2004 Dirty South compilation released by Swishahouse The Day Hell Broke Loose 2 AKA Major Without A Major Deal on the song "Throwed".
Choppa lost several family members and friends when New Orleans was struck by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. His home was destroyed. He was one the stars of who appeared in a telethon to benefit victims of Katrina. He personally donated $150,000 for disaster relief.

Shante Scott Franklin, April 4, 1981, better known by his stage name Curren$y is an American rapper from New Orleans, Louisiana. He is from the 3rd Ward in New Orleans.
In 2002, Curren$y signed to Master P's No Limit Records and was a member of the 504 Boyz. The Song "Get Back" by 504 Boyz made it to the Malibu's Most Wanted soundtrack. Curren$y appeared on 5 songs in Master P's Good Side, Bad Side album, released in 2004.[citation needed] Even though he was signed with No limit he represented C-Murders TRU label. Curren$y has several songs with incarcerated friend C-Murder, and was featured on the late Soulja Slim's album, Years Later.
Later on in 2004, Curren$y signed with Cash Money Records and Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment. He featured in Lil Wayne's Dedication 1,Dedication 2,Suffix and several unreleased songs while with Young Money. He released a mixtape entitled 'Welcome Back,' in 2004. He was featured in Lil Wayne's "Grown man" on the Carter 2 and on the "Grown man remix" with Boo. He remained in Young Money until late 2007. While still at Young Money, Curren$y created Fly Society with skateboarder Terry Kennedy, first as a clothing company, then expanding to release music. He released the song, "Where da Cash At" as the lead single for his Young Money debut, Music To Fly To, in 2006, but had to deal with several push-backs and lack of promotion. Also in 2006, he released G Series with Young Money members, Mack Maine and Lil Wayne. In 2007, another mixtape was released entitled "Life at 30,000 Feet". Curren$y decided to leave the label and venture off to do business on his own.

JT the Bigga Figga
Joseph Tom (born November 8, 1971), better known by his stage name JT the Bigga Figga, is an American producer and rapper from the Fillmore neighborhood of San Francisco, California. He has produced music on over one hundred albums, for artists including Daz Dillinger, Master P, The Game, San Quinn, and Messy Marv.
In 1992, JT founded the independent record label Get Low Recordz. What started as a basement enterprise and a one-man operation, would later become one of the most successful independent labels in the country.
JT's rap debut came in 1993 with the self-released album Playaz N the Game. The album's first single, "Game Recognize Game" received significant airplay, thrusting JT into the spotlight. The success of his album led to a bidding war among record labels, and he eventually signed with Priority Records in 1995. Subsequent albums released through Priority Records were unsuccessful, however, and in 1996 the label elected to release JT from his contract.
After the dissolution of his contract with Priority Records, JT went back to self-distributing his albums through Get Low Recordz. With the money from his deal with Priority, JT invested in a new state of the art recording studio and began rapidly producing and releasing numerous albums. In 2000, after signing a modest distribution deal with Bayside Records, Get Low began expanding, releasing nearly 20 albums a year.

Keak da Sneak
Charles Toby Bowens (born May 9, 1977), commonly known by his stage name Keak da Sneak, is a rapper from Oakland, California . At the age of 16 he was known as Z-Kush but became known as "Keak da Sneak" at 17, best known for his scratchy, gruff rapping voice and coining the term "hyphy" in 1994.
Keak da Sneak was born in Alabama where most of his family is from. He found popularity while attending Allendale Elementary School, which he parlayed into later friendships and talent show performances at Oakland's Bret Harte Junior High. Through theater he met his collaborator Agerman. Together, they formed Dual Committee, which, at the age of 15, was first heard on the songs "Murder Man" & "Stompin in My Steel Toes" on C-BO's 1994 EP The Autopsy. Citing the personal growth of all three artists, he later signed as a solo artist with Sacramento-based Moe Doe records as a solo artist. At this point, he began to receive more radio airplay, especially on San Francisco hip-hop station KMEL. He has collaborated with major artists such as E-40. Keak had video play on MTV, MTV2 & BET. Keak was even featured on MTV's My Super Sweet 16.

Lil Italy
Lil Italy is a rapper who was briefly a member of E-40's Sick Wid It Records and the label's group Funk Mobb. At the time he was known as G-Note. In 1998 Master P signed him to No Limit Records - where in 1999 he released an album under his new moniker Lil Italy - entitled, On Top of da World. The album made it to #99 on the Billboard 200 and #20 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and featured guest appearances from many of No Limit's top acts at the time including Silkk the Shocker, Snoop Dogg and Fiend. The album did not do well sales wise and Lil Italy was soon dropped from the label. He would then resurface in 2001 on the independent circuit with his second album, Full Blown before virtually disappearing from the music industry. In 2011, Lil Italy returned with his first studio album in 10 years. The album is titled "My Life" and is only available by MP3 download.

Lil Ric
Lil Ric is an American rapper from Richmond, California, formally of No Limit and Noo Trybe Records. He released his debut album, Deep N tha Game, in 1995 through No Limit, but left the label in 1995 just at it was beginning to take off. He later joined Noo Trybe and released 1998's It's Like Armageddon. Lil Ric has worked with numerous other Californian rappers including Laroo, JT the Bigga Figga, Keak da Sneak and San Quinn.

Luni Coleone
Monterrio Williams (born August 10, 1978), better known by his stage names, Luni Coleone or Lunasicc is a Garden Blocc Crip rapper who began his musical career on the streets of Sacramento, California.
He began his career under the alias of Lunasicc in 1995, appearing on his cousin X-Raided's album Xorcist. He released his solo debut, Mr. Lunasicc, in 1997 on AWOL Records, to strong reviews. A Million Words, a Million Dollars followed in 1998, to stronger reviews. Later that year Lunasicc joined forces with Killa Tay and KJ to form the supergroup, Dosia. They went on to produce one album, Waiting to Inhale, released November 3, 1998 on AWOL Records.
In 2000, he changed his name to Luni Coleone. His newest album is Global Recall, which was released January 17, 2006. Some of Coleone's most famous ballads include "All I Wanna Do", "All I Ever Wanted To Do", and "Thug Sh*t". His lyrics describe the everyday life of American inner-city youth.
Luni Coleone often collaborates with fellow West Coast artists such as: X-Raided, Mac Dre, Brotha Lynch Hung, Skandal, Skee 64 Oz., Hollow Tip, C-Bo, Killa Tay, Marvaless, Hatchet and most often I-Rocc and more recently the NINE SIDE CLICK out of Spokane Washington and was produced by super producer Hugh Heff and Big Hollis. Although Luni Coleone is not a hyphy artist per se, he has embraced the culture and recorded hyphy songs. Percy Robert Miller (born April 29, 1967), better known by his stage name Master P or his business name P. Miller, is an American rapper, actor, entrepreneur, investor, and producer. He is the founder of the popular label No Limit Records, which went bankrupt and was relaunched as New No Limit Records through Koch Records. followed by Guttar Music Entertainment, Take A Stand Records and No Limit Forever Records. He is the founder and CEO of P. Miller Enterprises, an entertainment and financial conglomerate and Better Black Television.
Miller gained fame in the late 1990s with the success of his group TRU and his fifth album Ice Cream Man, which contained his first single "Mr. Ice Cream Man". In 1997, after the success of one his biggest singles to date, "Make 'Em Say Uhh!," went platinum, Miller grew further in popularity. Then Miller released his second platinum album Ghetto D. Miller also starred in his own street film, mostly based on his life, I'm Bout It.
In 1998, P. Miller released his most successful album to date MP Da Last Don. The album was also based on a film that Miller produced, which came out earlier that year with the same name. The album hit #1 on the Billboard Top 200 charts, selling over 400,000 copies in its first week. The album was certified 4x platinum, with over four million copies sold, making it Miller's best-selling album. In 1999, Miller released his eighth album, Only God Can Judge Me. Mia X
Mia Young (born January 9, 1970), better known by her stage name Mia X, was the first female emcee to sign with No Limit Records. In 1992, she released a single titled “Ask Them Niggas.” From 1995 to 1998, Mia X released three albums for No Limit: Good Girl Gone Bad, Unlady Like, and Mama Drama. The second was certified gold by the RIAA for sales exceeding 500,000 copies.
Although born in New Orleans, Mia began her rhyming career in Queens, New York, as part of New York Incorporated, which disbanded after only four years. She then returned to New Orleans and met with Master P, an aspiring emcee and producer who signed her to his record label, No Limit.
Mia X reappeared on the hip hop scene in late 1996 with a track called "Verbal Assault" that was produced by Donald XL Robertson on the Southern Smoke mixtape series. The song included a refrain with the words "Guess Who's Back?" which lead to some speculation that she might be working on a new album.
Mia X is currently at work as the executive producer on the release of her son Sean's (aka Fly Guy Sean) debut album The future is in my hands... Also she is working very closely with her nephew Skrill-Dilly and his release on Mike Dean's List production label set to be released in 2009 via an unsaid major distribution deal.[citation needed]

Mystikal
Michael Lawrence Tyler (born September 22, 1970), better known by his stage name Mystikal, is an American rapper, and actor from New Orleans. A Persian Gulf war veteran who rose to stardom as a protege of the rap impresario Master P, Tyler combined powerful, passionate vocals that would range from a conspiratorial whisper to vein-popping screams in the course of a few words, and was constantly accelerating and decelerating his delivery. The sound was new, but not unprecedented, as Tyler's vocals were reminiscent of R&B screamers like Little Richard and James Brown, using piano and saxophone sounds to accentuate the delivery.
Mystikal's debut album, Mystikal, was released on New Orleans-based independent record label Big Boy Records in 1994. He found himself in conflict with fellow New Orleans rappers signed to Cash Money Records including U.N.L.V., Lil Wayne and B.G.. They dissed him on tracks like "Drag 'Em in Tha River" by U.N.L.V. and "Fuck Big Boy" by The B.G.'z. He struck back with the diss "Beware" which was on his sophomore effort Mind of Mystikal. Mystikal's sister, Michelle Tyler (whom he had close ties with), sang the chorus on "Not That Nigga" and her fate became a major influence on Mystikal's music after her untimely death. The songs "Dedicated To Michelle Tyler", "Murderer", "Murder 2", "Shine" and "Murder III" on the Mind of Mystikal, Unpredictable and Let's Get Ready albums, respectively, refer to her murder.

Ricky Davis
Tyree Ricardo "Ricky" Davis (born September 23, 1979) is an American professional basketball player.
Davis attended North High School in Davenport, Iowa. He was a four year starter who immediately attracted recruiting attention. His team made the state tournament his junior and senior years but did not reach the championship.
Davis played one season at the University of Iowa before being selected by the Charlotte Hornets in the first round of the 1998 NBA Draft, as the 21st pick overall. Davis played two seasons with the Hornets before being traded to the Miami Heat in a massive nine-player trade on August 1, 2000.
Davis injured his ankle and knee with the Heat and only played a total of seven games for them, and was eventually sent to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a three-team deal involving the Toronto Raptors a year later on October 26, 2001.
The Cavaliers re-signed Davis on August 21, 2002 to a six year contract. Davis' time with Cleveland was marked by disputes with then head coach Paul Silas. On March 16, 2003, in the closing seconds of a game against Utah, Davis was one rebound short of his first career triple-double. In an effort to record that rebound, Davis deliberately missed a shot at his team's own basket. Afterwards, he was fouled by Utah's DeShawn Stevenson in retaliation for his perceived unsportsmanlike behavior, and was later fined by his own team.

Ricky Williams
Errick Lynne "Ricky" Williams, Jr. (born May 21, 1977) is a former American football running back who played for eleven seasons in the National Football League (NFL) and one season in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at the University of Texas, where he was a two-time All-American and won the Heisman Trophy. He was drafted by the New Orleans Saints fifth overall in the 1999 NFL Draft and spent three seasons with the team before he was traded to the Miami Dolphins in 2002. He played for the Dolphins for three seasons, and retired for the first time from football in 2004. Due to his suspension from the NFL in 2006, he played for the Toronto Argonauts in 2006. He re-joined the Dolphins in 2007 and played with them until 2010, and spent the 2011 season with the Baltimore Ravens.
Williams was born (with his twin sister Cassandra) in San Diego, California, to 19-year old Sandy Williams and her husband, 18-year old Errick Williams. Growing up middle-class, his parents divorced in 1983 and Williams, at the age of 5, was taking care of his sisters by putting them to bed and even cooking for them. Perhaps due to his broken home and the fact that his father was gone at such an early age, Williams suffered from anger issues that eventually led his mother to send him to counseling. He also struggled academically, despite a test he took as a six-year old which revealed that he had the intelligence of someone twice his age. Williams himself once said, "I was always very bright, but not necessarily a hard worker. I think I was in eighth grade when I became really focused as a student and started getting good grades." By high school Williams was an honor roll student and was named to the San Diego Union-Tribune All-Academic team.

Percy Romeo Miller, Jr. (born August 19, 1989), better known by his stage name Romeo (previously Lil' Romeo), is an American rapper, actor, basketball player, entrepreneur, and model. As a rap musician, Miller has released three studio albums and two compilation albums.
Romeo Miller was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is the son of rapper and entrepreneur Master P and former rapper Sonya C. He is the nephew of rappers C-Murder and Silkk the Shocker and the brother of singer Cymphonique. Romeo was signed to No Limit at the age of 5 after he wrote a rap to his dad.
He then released his debut album 7 years later titled after his original alias Lil' Romeo. This offering contained the hit single "My Baby" that charted No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-hop Singles. The album peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and No. 5 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums,selling more than 500,000 copies the first week out making it certified Gold. The album is now certified certified Platinum by the RIAA for the sales of 1,300,000. Also in 2001 he was featured on his uncle Silkk the Shocker's remix single of "That's Kool", which was also featured on his own album.

Ron Mercer
Ronald (Ron) Eugene Mercer (born May 18, 1976) is an American former professional basketball player. After his career at the University of Kentucky, Mercer played for several teams in the National Basketball Association; he ended his career with the New Jersey Nets in 2005.
Ron Mercer was twice named "Mr. Basketball" of Tennessee while at Goodpasture Christian School in Madison, Tennessee. He then transferred to Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, and was rated by Bob Gibbons to be the best prep player of the class of 1995, over Kevin Garnett, Vince Carter, Antwan Jamison and Stephon Marbury.
Mercer had a very successful collegiate career, having been an All-American and all-Southeastern Conference player at Kentucky, and part of a national championship team in his freshman year. He was selected with the 6th overall pick of the 1997 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics and was reunited with fellow Kentucky teammate Antoine Walker, and Rick Pitino, his coach at Kentucky who had just become the coach of the Celtics. Prior to Mercer's drafting, Pitino was recorded as saying that he did not envisage Mercer as having the necessary talent to be selected very high. Some felt this was just a ploy to scare the other teams away from him so as to increase the likelihood of Mercer being available by the time the Celtics got an opportunity to make their draft selection.

San Quinn
Quincy Brooks IV (born October 24, 1977), better known by his stage name San Quinn, is an American rapper from San Francisco, California. He is the cousin of Messy Marv.
Brooks was born in Oakland, California, and grew up in the Fillmore district of San Francisco since the age of three. He attended George Washington High School.
Brooks made his first rap appearance as an opening act for 2pac and Digital Underground at the age of 12. He recorded his first album at 15 years old. In addition to a solo career, Brooks is also a member of the San Francisco rap group Get Low Playaz with JT The Bigga Figga, D-Moe, and Seff Tha Gaffla. One of Brooks' most notable tracks is "Shock the Party", which samples Whodini's "One Love". The video for "Shock the Party" was filmed in the Fillmore district of San Francisco in the now-defunct Buena Vista Plaza East public housing towers, commonly referred to as OC (Outta Control) Housing Projects.

Silkk the Shocker
Vyshonn King Miller (born June 18, 1975), who records under the stage name Silkk The Shocker, is an American rapper and actor. He originally went under the stage name Silkk, but later adopted The Shocker after his debut studio album in 1996 entitled, The Shocker.
Vyshonn King Miller was born on June 18, 1975, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was raised in the Calliope Projects, which is located in the 3rd Ward of Uptown New Orleans, along with his two brothers Percy "Master P" Miller, Corey "C-Murder" Miller and three other siblings. He relocated to Richmond, California at the age of 13, and graduated from De Anza High School in 1994
Silkk The Shocker rose to fame in the mid-late 1990s, releasing his first record The Shocker in 1996 using the alias Silkk. After changing his name to Silkk The Shocker, he went on to appear on numerous albums from TRU's Tru 2 da Game, Mia X's Unlady Like, and Mystikal's Unpredictable. He had a brief feud with veteran rapper L.L. Cool J in the 90's.
In 1998, Silkk The Shocker would feature on Master P's 1998 hit "Make 'Em Say Uhh!". Continuing on the success of the hit single, Silkk would release his next single with label-mate Mystikal as a featured artist on "It Ain't My Fault" off his second album Charge It 2 Da Game. "It Ain't My Fault" gained popularity and became the trademark song for Silkk The Shocker. In that same year Silkk the Shocker would feature on, at that time a new group, Destiny's Child's single "Just Be Straight with Me", as well as, R&B singer Mýa's "Movin' On", the second single released from Mýa, her self-titled debut album.

Snoop Dogg
Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr. (born October 20, 1971), better known by his stage name Snoop Dogg (formerly known as Snoop Doggy Dogg), is an American rapper, record producer, and actor. Snoop is best known as a rapper in the West Coast hip hop scene, and for being one of Dr. Dre's most notable protégés. Snoop Dogg was a Crip gang member while in high school. Shortly after graduation, he was arrested for cocaine possession and spent six months in Wayside County Jail. His music career began in 1992 after his release when he was discovered by Dr. Dre. He collaborated on several tracks on Dre's solo debut, The Chronic and on the titular theme song to the film Deep Cover.
Snoop's debut album Doggystyle, was released in 1993 under Death Row Records making a debut at No.1 on both the Billboard 200 and R&B charts. Selling almost a million copies in the first week of its release, Doggystyle quickly became certified 4× platinum in 1994 and spawned several hit singles, including "What's My Name" and "Gin & Juice". In 1994, Snoop released a soundtrack on Death Row Records for the short film Murder Was The Case, starring himself. In early 1996, Snoop Dogg was cleared of charges over his bodyguard's 1993 murder of Philip Woldemariam. His second album, late 1996's Tha Doggfather, also debuted at No.1 on both charts with "Snoop's Upside Ya Head" as the lead single. The album sold only half as well, being certified double platinum in 1997.

James Tapp, Jr. (September 9, 1977 – November 26, 2003), better known by his stage name Soulja Slim, was an American rapper who achieved massive success on Master P's No Limit record label. He also achieved fame throughout New Orleans and Nation Wide from his work done with B.G., UNLV, and other local artists. He is known for writing the U.S. No. 1 hit "Slow Motion".
James Tapp was raised either in the Magnolia Projects or in the 3rd Ward of New Orleans. He attended Booker T. Washington High School before dropping out of school his sophomore year. Tapp released his debut album, Soulja fa Lyfe, on Parkway Pumpin' Records in 1994 under the name Magnolia Slim. In 1995, he released the four-song e.p. The Dark Side on Hype Enough Records. In the same year, the song "You Got It" appeared on No Limit Records double-CD compilation Down South Hustlers: Bouncin' and Swingin' . In 1998, Tapp, now calling himself Soulja Slim, released Give It 2 'Em Raw on No Limit Records with his single and video "From What I Was Told." Soulja Slim was convicted of armed robbery and incarcerated. He reappeared three years later with Streets Made Me, which was again released on the No Limit label. From there, he started his own label, Cut Throat Committee Records and released Years Later in late 2002. In 2003, he released Years Later...A Few Months After, his last album before his death. The album featured the hit "I'll Pay for It". In 2003 he also collaborated with fellow New Orleans rapper Juvenile to make the song "Slow Motion". The song was released on Juvenile's album Juve the Great and reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. It was Soulja Slim and Juvenile's first No. 1 hit, and as the song was released after Soulja Slim's death he became only the sixth artist to have a posthumous No. 1 song.

The Medicine Men, formerly known as Beats by the Pound, is a four-man hip hop and R&B platinum-selling remix and production team.
The group is composed of the former In-house production team (KLC, Mo B. Young Bleed
Glenn Clifton Jr. (born March 25, 1978), better known as Young Bleed is an American hip-hop artist based out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Since his chart-topping 1998 release My Balls & My Word, Thug Drama, a ghost producer, introduced Young Bleed to Master P in 1997. Young Bleed has been a mainstay of the Southern hip hop underground, narrating his vision of life in the urban South.

Young Bleed started rhyming at the age of 9 at home in his native South Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He claims to have been influenced by his mother, who had read poetry to him from a young age, and the rise in popularity in hip hop and acts like Run DMC. By his teenage years had begun recording his rhymes, selling hip hop tapes independently to friends on the streets of his neighborhood, and eventually signing to a local record label. In 1995 he joined with fellow Baton Rouge-based hip hop artists C-Loc, J-Von, Chris Hamilton(j-vons younger brother) and Max Minelli to form the hip hop group Concentration Camp with whom he is still affiliated present.

The Detroit Race Riot broke out in Detroit, Michigan in June 20, 1943, and lasted for three days before Federal troops restored order. The rioting between blacks and whites began on Belle Isle on June 20, 1943 and continued until the 22nd of June, killing 34, wounding 433, and destroying property valued at $2 million. In the summer of 1943, in the midst of World War II, tensions between blacks and whites in Detroit were escalating. Detroit's population had grown by 350000 people since the war began. The booming defense industries brought in large numbers of people with high wages and very little available housing. 50000 blacks had recently arrived along with 300000 whites, mostly from rural Appalachia and Southern States.[2] Recruiters convinced blacks as well as whites in the South to come up North by promising them higher wages in the new war factories. Believing that they had found a promised land, blacks began to move up North in larger numbers. However, upon arriving in Detroit, blacks found that the northern bigotry was just as bad as that they left behind in the deep South. They were excluded from all public housing except Brewster Housing Projects, forced to live in homes without indoor plumbing, and paid rents two to three times higher than families in white districts. Biography
Jerry McCain was born on June 19, 1930 in Gadsden (Etowah County), Alabama - the same place where he's still located. He even lives in the same house that he built with his father in 1950. In all probability it's the father who originated Jerry's musical awakening as well, by running his own local barbeque joint (called Green Front Cafe), and spinning there the hottest blues and r'n'b records on the jukebox. There were also a few other influential relatives: Jerry had two harmonica playing uncles and his mother played the guitar. Jerry, who was the youngest of five children, had been playing harmonica since the age of five. As a teenager he tried also with guitar, drums, jew's harp and even trumpet, until finding the crucial inspiration from artists such as Sonny Boy Williamson I, and gradually becoming a full-bodied harpist. Sonny Boy Williamson II (a.k.a. Rice Miller) also had a notable effect on him both technically and mentally - since the two had been introduced to each other during McCain's first recording session for Trumpet in 1953. Over the years, Jerry became mainly influenced by the music of Little Walter Jacobs, and in fact, again sometime in 1953, when the last mentioned was performing in Gadsden, Jerry also had a chance to become friends and even join Walter on stage for a couple of numbers. Before making any recordings, Jerry used to perform at the radio station WETO with only a jug to accompany him. His first band was founded in the early 1950's. Jerry McCain & his Trio consisted of Jerry himself on vocals and harp, Christopher Collins on guitar, and Jerry's older brothers Roosevelt and Walter, who both played drums alternately. Before the brothers came into the picture, Jerry used to know a drummer named Jean Dozier who played marching type drums, which of course didn't match McCain's style that well. It was obvious that sooner or later the young musicians also wanted to make a record. They managed to find a cheap recording machine somewhere from Alabama, and cut their own acetate version of Little Walter's "Crazy 'Bout You, Baby" which was sent to the head of Trumpet Records, Mrs. Lillian S. McMurray. She liked the song so much that she invited Jerry and the band to Jackson, MS. The first studio session at the State Furniture Co. on October 10, 1953 was strengthened by the Trumpet session men David Campbell on piano, Herman Fowlkes on bass, and Bernard "Bunny" Williams, who played the second solo instrument, tenor saxophone - a quite surprising but effective choice for the harmonica blues recordings. The captured songs were "East Of The Sun", "Wine-O-Wine", "Oh Wee Baby", and "Feel Just Like I'm In Love". The first two came out on Trumpet 217, the others are still unissued. This debut single was a regional hit (sold 2.500 copies), and Lillian gave Jerry another chance. The second and the last Trumpet session was arranged at Diamond Recording Studios, Jackson, MS on November 4, 1954. The brothers Roosevelt and Walter didn't attend this time. Collins however did, along with another guitarist J.V. Turner who had worked previously with Sonny Boy Williamson among others. Other musicians at the studio were David Campbell (pno), Raz Roseby (bs) and Junior Blackman (dms). From the five songs they cut, "Stay Out Of Automobiles" and "Love To Make Up" ended up to Trumpet 231. McMurray had bad financial troubles, and only 750 copies were pressed. Soon afterwards the Trumpet company closed its doors, and the rest of the tracks, "Middle Of The Night", "Crazy 'Bout That Mess" and "Fall Guy", remained unissued until the early 1990's. At some point in the mid-1950's Jerry and the band (Chris Collins:gtr, Robert Christian:gtr, Roosevelt McCain:dms) did an 11-song demo session in the living room of Jerry's Gadsden home using only one microphone and 1-track recorder (first issued on the White Label LP "Choo Choo Rock" in 1979). When Nashville record boss Ernie Young heard these wild rock'n'roll tapes, it didn't take long before Jerry found himself working for Excello Records. The forthcoming recordings were made mostly at the 3rd Street's Nashboro studios, and Young usually was in charge of engineering. The background group (The Upstarts) changed slightly with every session but the main players were always Collins and Christian on guitars, Ed "Skippy" Brooks on piano and Roosevelt McCain or Jimmy Sheffield on drums. The first Excello single (#2068) was released in 1955. The A-side "That's What They Want" represented Mannish Boy/I'm A Man-style slow downhome blues, while its flip, "Courtin' In A Cadillac" was already straight rock'n'roll. By 1957 this platter was followed by five more high-quality 45rpm records containing some highly enjoyable uptempo rockers such as "My Next Door Neighbor", "The Jig's Up" and "Run, Uncle John, Run!" which was Jerry's answer to Little Richard

Dragnet is a radio and television crime drama about the cases of a dedicated Los Angeles police detective, Sergeant Joe Friday, and his partners. The show takes its name from an actual police term, a "dragnet", meaning a system of coordinated measures for apprehending criminals or suspects. Dragnet debuted inauspiciously. The first several months were bumpy, as Webb and company worked out the program's format and eventually became comfortable with their characters (Friday was originally portrayed as more brash and forceful than his later usually relaxed demeanor). Gradually, Friday's deadpan, fast-talking persona emerged, described by John Dunning as "a cop's cop, tough but not hard, conservative but caring." (Dunning, 210) Friday's first partner was Sergeant Ben Romero, portrayed by Barton Yarborough, a longtime radio actor. After Yarborough's death in 1951 (and therefore Romero's, who also died of a heart attack, as acknowledged on the December 27, 1951 episode "The Big Sorrow"), Friday was partnered with Sergeant Ed Jacobs (December 27, 1951 - April 10, 1952, subsequently transferred to the Police Academy as an instructor), played by Barney Phillips; Officer Bill Lockwood (Ben Romero's nephew, April 17, 1952 - May 8, 1952), played by Martin Milner (with Ken Peters taking the role for the June 12, 1952 episode "The Big Donation"); and finally Frank Smith, played first by Herb Ellis (1952), then Ben Alexander (September 21, 1952-1959). Biography
Jerry McCain was born on June 19, 1930 in Gadsden (Etowah County), Alabama - the same place where he's still located. He even lives in the same house that he built with his father in 1950. In all probability it's the father who originated Jerry's musical awakening as well, by running his own local barbeque joint (called Green Front Cafe), and spinning there the hottest blues and r'n'b records on the jukebox. There were also a few other influential relatives: Jerry had two harmonica playing uncles and his mother played the guitar. Jerry, who was the youngest of five children, had been playing harmonica since the age of five. As a teenager he tried also with guitar, drums, jew's harp and even trumpet, until finding the crucial inspiration from artists such as Sonny Boy Williamson I, and gradually becoming a full-bodied harpist. Sonny Boy Williamson II (a.k.a. Rice Miller) also had a notable effect on him both technically and mentally - since the two had been introduced to each other during McCain's first recording session for Trumpet in 1953. Over the years, Jerry became mainly influenced by the music of Little Walter Jacobs, and in fact, again sometime in 1953, when the last mentioned was performing in Gadsden, Jerry also had a chance to become friends and even join Walter on stage for a couple of numbers. Before making any recordings, Jerry used to perform at the radio station WETO with only a jug to accompany him. His first band was founded in the early 1950's. Jerry McCain & his Trio consisted of Jerry himself on vocals and harp, Christopher Collins on guitar, and Jerry's older brothers Roosevelt and Walter, who both played drums alternately. Before the brothers came into the picture, Jerry used to know a drummer named Jean Dozier who played marching type drums, which of course didn't match McCain's style that well. It was obvious that sooner or later the young musicians also wanted to make a record. They managed to find a cheap recording machine somewhere from Alabama, and cut their own acetate version of Little Walter's "Crazy 'Bout You, Baby" which was sent to the head of Trumpet Records, Mrs. Lillian S. McMurray. She liked the song so much that she invited Jerry and the band to Jackson, MS. The first studio session at the State Furniture Co. on October 10, 1953 was strengthened by the Trumpet session men David Campbell on piano, Herman Fowlkes on bass, and Bernard "Bunny" Williams, who played the second solo instrument, tenor saxophone - a quite surprising but effective choice for the harmonica blues recordings. The captured songs were "East Of The Sun", "Wine-O-Wine", "Oh Wee Baby", and "Feel Just Like I'm In Love". The first two came out on Trumpet 217, the others are still unissued. This debut single was a regional hit (sold 2.500 copies), and Lillian gave Jerry another chance. The second and the last Trumpet session was arranged at Diamond Recording Studios, Jackson, MS on November 4, 1954. The brothers Roosevelt and Walter didn't attend this time. Collins however did, along with another guitarist J.V. Turner who had worked previously with Sonny Boy Williamson among others. Other musicians at the studio were David Campbell (pno), Raz Roseby (bs) and Junior Blackman (dms). From the five songs they cut, "Stay Out Of Automobiles" and "Love To Make Up" ended up to Trumpet 231. McMurray had bad financial troubles, and only 750 copies were pressed. Soon afterwards the Trumpet company closed its doors, and the rest of the tracks, "Middle Of The Night", "Crazy 'Bout That Mess" and "Fall Guy", remained unissued until the early 1990's. At some point in the mid-1950's Jerry and the band (Chris Collins:gtr, Robert Christian:gtr, Roosevelt McCain:dms) did an 11-song demo session in the living room of Jerry's Gadsden home using only one microphone and 1-track recorder (first issued on the White Label LP "Choo Choo Rock" in 1979). When Nashville record boss Ernie Young heard these wild rock'n'roll tapes, it didn't take long before Jerry found himself working for Excello Records. The forthcoming recordings were made mostly at the 3rd Street's Nashboro studios, and Young usually was in charge of engineering. The background group (The Upstarts) changed slightly with every session but the main players were always Collins and Christian on guitars, Ed "Skippy" Brooks on piano and Roosevelt McCain or Jimmy Sheffield on drums. The first Excello single (#2068) was released in 1955. The A-side "That's What They Want" represented Mannish Boy/I'm A Man-style slow downhome blues, while its flip, "Courtin' In A Cadillac" was already straight rock'n'roll. By 1957 this platter was followed by five more high-quality 45rpm records containing some highly enjoyable uptempo rockers such as "My Next Door Neighbor", "The Jig's Up" and "Run, Uncle John, Run!" which was Jerry's answer to Little Richard

The Detroit Race Riot broke out in Detroit, Michigan in June 20, 1943, and lasted for three days before Federal troops restored order. The rioting between blacks and whites began on Belle Isle on June 20, 1943 and continued until the 22nd of June, killing 34, wounding 433, and destroying property valued at $2 million. In the summer of 1943, in the midst of World War II, tensions between blacks and whites in Detroit were escalating. Detroit's population had grown by 350000 people since the war began. The booming defense industries brought in large numbers of people with high wages and very little available housing. 50000 blacks had recently arrived along with 300000 whites, mostly from rural Appalachia and Southern States.[2] Recruiters convinced blacks as well as whites in the South to come up North by promising them higher wages in the new war factories. Believing that they had found a promised land, blacks began to move up North in larger numbers. However, upon arriving in Detroit, blacks found that the northern bigotry was just as bad as that they left behind in the deep South. They were excluded from all public housing except Brewster Housing Projects, forced to live in homes without indoor plumbing, and paid rents two to three times higher than families in white districts. Lil Ric is an American rapper from Richmond, California, formally of No Limit and Noo Trybe Records. He released his debut album, Deep N tha Game, in 1995[1] through No Limit, but left the label in 1995 just at it was beginning to take off. Antonio Hardy (born September 10, 1968)[1] better known by his stage name Big Daddy Kane, is a Grammy Award-winning American rapper who started his career in 1986 as a member of the rap group the Juice Crew. He is widely considered to be one of the most influential and skilled MCs in Hip Hop.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12] Regarding the name Big Daddy Kane, he said: "The Big Daddy part and the Kane part came from two different things. The Kane part came from my fascination with the martial arts flicks when I was young. The Big Daddy came from something that happened on a ski trip one time involving a young lady." [13]

In 1984, Kane became friends with Biz Markie, and he would co-write some of Biz's best-known lyrics.[14][15] Both eventually became important members of the Queens-based Juice Crew, a collective headed by renowned producer Marley Marl. Kane signed with Marl's Cold Chillin' Records label in 1987 and debuted the following year with the 12" single "Raw," an underground hit. Kane is known for his ability to syncopate over faster hip hop beats, and despite his asthmatic condition[14] he is acknowledged as one of the pioneering masters of fast-rap. His sense of style is renowned and set a number of late-1980s and early-1990s hip hop trends (high-top fades, velour suits, and four-finger rings). The backronym "King Asiatic Nobody's Equal" is often applied to his moniker.
He released his debut album under Cold Chillin' Records in the early summer of 1988 called Long Live the Kane which featured the hip hop hit, "Ain't No Half Steppin". The following year Kane released his second album and biggest hit to date It's a Big Daddy Thing which included 1970s sample throwbacks like "Smooth Operator" and the Teddy Riley produced track "I Get the Job Done" which hit the R&B top 40 during the closing of the 1980s. He also had a memorable verse on the Marley Marl produced track "The Symphony" released in late 1988 which included Juice Crew member Craig G, Masta Ace, and Kool G Rap).

Big Daddy Kane appeared on Patti Labelle's 1991 effort, "Burnin'". He provided the rap chorus to the single "Feels Like Another One". He also appeared on the video release "Live in New York."
In 1991, Kane won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for his performance on the Quincy Jones collaborative track "Back on the Block" off of Back on the Block.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest rappers during the "golden age" of hip hop (1986–1993), Kane's experimentation with R&B beats and his alignment to the Five Percent Nation drew criticism. Later albums, such as Looks Like a Job For…, were acclaimed, but he was never able to return to the commercial and artistic success of It's a Big Daddy Thing. However, he still tours extensively.
As an actor, he debuted in Mario Van Peebles' 1993 western, Posse, and appeared in Robert Townsend's 1993 film Meteor Man. Big Daddy Kane also posed for Playgirl and Madonna's Sex book during the 1990s. In 1996, he collaborated with 2Pac on his song "Where Ever U R".
During the early 1990s, Jay-Z is known to have been Big Daddy Kane’s hype man, and Kane helped him early on in his career - Ice-T says, “I actually met Jay-Z with Kane. Kane brought Jay-Z over to my house”.[2] Kane himself says that Jay-Z wasn’t technically his hypeman in the true sense of the term –“he wasn’t a hypeman, he basically made cameo appearances on stage. When I would leave the stage to go change outfits, I would bring out Jay-Z and Positive K and let them freestyle until I came back to the stage.”.[16] Jay-Z was also featured on Big Daddy Kane’s track ‘Show & Prove’ from Daddy’s Home (1994), as well as in the video.[17]
In 1995, Kane recorded with MC Hammer and Tupac Shakur on the rap song "Too Late Playa" (along with Danny Boy).[18]
2000s[link]
A rejuvenated Big Daddy Kane occasionally collaborated with a variety of hip-hop artists, including A Tribe Called Quest, Jurassic 5, Little Brother, and DJ Babu of the Beat Junkies. He released two singles, the Alchemist-produced "The Man, The Icon", and the DJ Premier-produced "Any Type of Way" (on which he discusses urban collapse in post-9/11 New York City ("Giuliani got New York lookin' like it's Amistad") and the erosion of the middle class.)
Big Daddy Kane appeared on the trip-hop group Morcheeba's 2003 single "What's Your Name". In 2004, "Warm It Up, Kane" appeared on popular video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, playing on classic hip hop radio station Playback FM.
In 2005, Big Daddy Kane was honored during the VH1 Hip-Hop Honors. After a medley of hits performed by T.I., Black Thought, and Common, he came out to perform "Warm It Up, Kane" with his old dancers, Scoob and Scrap. Kane and Kool G Rap can both be seen briefly in Dave Chappelle's Block Party documentary.
In 2006, he appeared as a guest MC on the track "Get Wild Off This", produced by The Stanton Warriors for their Stanton Sessions Vol. 2 breaks mix. He also appeared alongside the Wu-Tang Clan, Rakim, and his longtime friends Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip in a segment of the 2006 Summer Jam concert (June 7, 2006), as part of an initiative by Busta Rhymes to honor the legacy of New York City hip hop.
In 2007, a new track, "BK Mentality", was released on the mixtape compilation Official Joints. Kane also appeared on Joell Ortiz's The Brick: Bodega Chronicles mixtape.
Big Daddy Kane made a cameo in the 2008 video for "Game's Pain", a track by Compton rapper The Game. The video also featured appearances by Raekwon, Three Six Mafia and Ice Cube. The Game also referenced Jay-Z's former occupation as Kane's hypeman: "Ask a Jay-Z fan about Big Daddy Kane: Don't know him, Game gon' show 'em".[19] He also appeared on the remix of "Don't Touch Me" by Busta Rhymes. Also in 2009 Kane played the role of Clay in the film Just Another Day. The film is the tale of two rappers, one poor and young, one older and successful. The movie follows them through just another day of their lives.
As of 2010, Big Daddy Kane is working on a new album with his band Connie Price and the Keystones, and Darnell Chavis from the 90's R&B group, Solo, called "The Last Supper". The project is said to have a classic Hip-Hop & R&B vibe to it. No date is set for the release of the album.

Big Daddy Kane is regarded as one of the most influential and skilled golden age rappers.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][20] MTV put him at No. 7 in their Greatest MCs Of All Time list,[2] he is placed at No.4 in Kool Moe Dee’s book There's A God On The Mic: The True 50 Greatest MCs,[3] About.com ranked him #3 on its list of the "Top 50 MCs of Our Time,"[21] and RZA listed him as one of his Top 5 best MCs.[4] Allmusic says, “his best material ranks among the finest hip-hop of its era, and his sex-drenched persona was enormously influential on countless future would-be players”,[5] and describes him as, “an enormously talented battle MC”,[6] “one of rap's major talents”,[6] refers to his, “near-peerless technique” ”[6] and “first-rate technique and rhyming skills”[22] and says he “had the sheer verbal facility and razor-clean dexterity to ambush any MC and exhilarate anyone who witnessed or heard him perform”.[20] Kool Moe Dee describes him as “one of the most imitated emcees ever in the game”[23] and “one of the true greatest emcees ever”,[24] and Ice-T says:
"To me, Big Daddy Kane is still today one of the best rappers. I would put Big Daddy Kane against any rapper in a battle. Jay-Z, Nas, Eminem, any of them. I could take his 'Raw' "swagger" from 88 and put it up against any record [from today]. Kane is one of the most incredible lyricists… and he will devour you on the mic. I don't want to try to out-rap Big Daddy Kane. Big Daddy Kane can rap circles around cats".[2]
His first two albums are also considered Hip Hop classics[7] and Rolling Stone says, “he has received consistent critical kudos”.[25] In the book, Rap-Up: The Ultimate Guide To Hip-Hop And R&B, Cameron and Devin Lazerine say Big Daddy Kane is “widely seen as one of the best lyricists of his time and even today regularly gets name-checked by younger dudes”,[26] and music journalist Peter Shapiro says Kane is “perhaps the most complete MC ever”.[12] Eminem references Big Daddy Kane in the lyrics to his song ‘Yellow Brick Road’ from his Encore album, saying, “we (Eminem and Proof) was on the same shit, that Big Daddy Kane shit, where compound syllables sound combined”[10] and he quotes the same lines in his book, The Way I Am – this illustrates how Big Daddy Kane had an influence on both Eminem’s and Proof’s rhyme technique.[11]

Charles Toby Bowens (born May 9, 1977), commonly known by his stage name Keak da Sneak, is a rapper from Oakland, California . At the age of 16 he was known as Z-Kush[1] but became known as "Keak da Sneak" at 17, best known for his scratchy, gruff rapping voice and coining the term "hyphy" in 1994.

Keak da Sneak was born in Alabama where most of his family is from. He found popularity while attending Allendale Elementary School, which he parlayed into later friendships and talent show performances at Oakland's Bret Harte Junior High. Through theater he met his collaborator Agerman.[2] Together, they formed Dual Committee, which, at the age of 15, was first heard on the songs "Murder Man" & "Stompin in My Steel Toes" on C-BO's 1994 EP The Autopsy. Citing the personal growth of all three artists, he later signed as a solo artist with Sacramento-based Moe Doe records as a solo artist.[3] At this point, he began to receive more radio airplay, especially on San Francisco hip-hop station KMEL. He has collaborated with major artists such as E-40. Keak had video play on MTV, MTV2 & BET. Keak was even featured on MTV's My Super Sweet 16.[4]
3X Krazy[link]

By the end of their junior year in high school, they had added rapper B.A. to form the group 3X Krazy. Their first EP, Sick-O, was released independently on August 5, 1995. In 1996 they signed to Virgin Records, releasing the album Stackin' Chips on March 8, 1997 (with help from the single Keep It on the Real; the album received national attention), and the second album Immortalized, and then the release of Real Talk 2000 on January 18, 2000.[5] The last 3X Krazy album, a collection of previously unreleased material and remixed songs from Sick-O, was flowamatic-9, which was released in 2004.

Joseph Tom (born November 8, 1971), better known by his stage name JT the Bigga Figga, is an American producer and rapper from the Fillmore neighborhood of San Francisco, California.[1] He has produced music on over one hundred albums, for artists including Daz Dillinger, Master P, The Game, San Quinn, and Messy Marv.[2]

In 1992, JT founded the independent record label Get Low Recordz.[3][1] What started as a basement enterprise and a one-man operation, would later become one of the most successful independent labels in the country.[4]
JT's rap debut came in 1993 with the self-released album Playaz N the Game.[4] The album's first single, "Game Recognize Game" received significant airplay, thrusting JT into the spotlight. The success of his album led to a bidding war among record labels, and he eventually signed with Priority Records in 1995.[1][4][5] Subsequent albums released through Priority Records were unsuccessful, however, and in 1996 the label elected to release JT from his contract.[4]
After the dissolution of his contract with Priority Records, JT went back to self-distributing his albums through Get Low Recordz. With the money from his deal with Priority, JT invested in a new state of the art recording studio and began rapidly producing and releasing numerous albums. In 2000, after signing a modest distribution deal with Bayside Records, Get Low began expanding, releasing nearly 20 albums a year.[4]
In 2002, JT published an E-Book called The CEO Manual.[6]
In fall of 2005, JT was named A&R for the West Coast operations of the Houston, TX based Rap-A-Lot Records.[7]
Film and television career[link]
JT the Bigga Figga's film credits include the Spike Lee movie Sucker Free City (2004),[8][9] and SKUZZ TV (2007),[10] a reality based documentary DVD released by 3MZ productions.
In 2006, JT worked with Snoop Dogg on a documentary DVD entitled Mandatory Business, which featured such names as Russell Simmons, Spike Lee, Xzibit, Young Buck and 50 Cent.[11]

Andre L. Adams (born March 11, 1970), better known by his stage name Andre Nickatina, is an American rapper from San Francisco, California. He previously performed under the stage name Dre Dog.

Personal Life[link]
Andre Adams was born on March 11, 1970 in San Francisco, and grew up in the city's Fillmore District. He attended the Galileo Academy of Science and Technology but dropped out; he claims to have had a D average.[2][3]
Musical career[link]
He released two albums under the stage name Dre Dog: The New Jim Jones in 1993 and I Hate You With a Passion in 1995. I Hate You With a Passion peaked at #79 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and #3 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. In 1997, Adams changed his stage name to Andre Nickatina, and released the albums: Cocaine Raps under his own label, Filmoe Coleman Records and Raven in My Eyes, which was released under the Bay Area Independent Rap Label Dogday Records.[4] Unlike his albums released under the name Dre Dog, Cocaine Raps had deeper production values [First Collaborations with Producer Nick Peace]. The album Raven in My Eyes was noted for its production quality and songs that combine "sequencers and keyboards that buzz and whine" with live instrumentation.[5] That year, he founded his own record label, Filmoe Coleman Records. Nickatina explained in an interview with Strivin magazine that his name change was "for the better" and that he raps because he feels that he is talented enough to do so but not for the sake of popularity.[6]
Soon afterwards, his following three albums, Tears of a Clown (1999), Daiquiri Factory: Cocaine Raps, Vol. 2, The Unreleased [Sold Exclusively at shows and appreances] and These R the Tales (the latter three in 2000) gained him notoriety in the West Coast underground rap scene.[4] Mosi Reeves of the San Francisco Bay Guardian noted Nickatina's popularity at a CD release party for another underground Bay Area rapper/producer, Smoov-E; Reeves called Nickatina "a quick-witted rapper who spits as hard as Kurupt does".[7] A combo CD/movie project, Conversation with a Devil, followed in 2003.[4] Lindsay Welnick, a music critic for SF Weekly, regarded the film as a knockoff of the classic gangster movie Scarface.[2] Nate Denver for the SF Bay Guardian praised the album, though.[8] Another album, The Gift followed in 2005, when the newspaper SF Weekly named Nickatina the "Best Local Hip Hop Legend" of that year. In 2005, Nickatina also won the first annual Bay Area Raps Awards for Best Underground Artist. In 2008, he released A Tale of Two Andres with Mac Dre. Although they released only two songs together, they were close friends and the album was a tribute to his memory.[9]
