World War I
World War I (WWI or WW1), also known as the First World War, or the Great War, was a global war centred in Europe that began on 28 July 1914 and lasted until 11 November 1918. More than 70 million military personnel, including 60 million Europeans, were mobilised in one of the largest wars in history. Over 9 million combatants and 7 million civilians died as a result of the war (including the victims of a number of genocides), a casualty rate exacerbated by the belligerents' technological and industrial sophistication, and the tactical stalemate caused by trench warfare, a grueling form of warfare in which the defender held the advantage. It was one of the deadliest conflicts in history, and paved the way for major political changes, including revolutions in many of the nations involved.
The war drew in all the world's economic great powers, assembled in two opposing alliances: the Allies (based on the Triple Entente of the United Kingdom/British Empire, France and the Russian Empire) versus the Central Powers of Germany and Austria-Hungary. Although Italy was a member of the Triple Alliance alongside Germany and Austria-Hungary, it did not join the Central Powers, as Austria-Hungary had taken the offensive, against the terms of the alliance. These alliances were reorganised and expanded as more nations entered the war: Italy, Japan and the United States joined the Allies, while the Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria joined the Central Powers.

Eastern Front (World War I)
The Eastern Front of World War I (Russian: Восточный фронт, sometimes called the "Second Fatherland War" or "Second Patriotic War" (Russian: Вторая Отечественная война) in Russian sources) was a major theatre of operations that encompassed at its greatest extent the entire frontier between the Russian Empire and Romania on one side and the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Bulgaria, the Ottoman Empire and Germany on the other. It stretched from the Baltic Sea in the north to the Black Sea in the south, included most of Eastern Europe and stretched deep into Central Europe as well. The term contrasts with "Western Front", which was being fought in Belgium and France.
In the opening months of the war, the Imperial Russian Army attempted an invasion of eastern Prussia in the northwestern theater, only to be beaten back by the Germans after some initial success. At the same time, in the south, they successfully invaded Galicia, defeating the Austro-Hungarian forces there. In Russian Poland, the Germans failed to take Warsaw. But by 1915, the German and Austro-Hungarian armies were on the advance, dealing the Russians heavy casualties in Galicia and in Poland, forcing it to retreat. Grand Duke Nicholas was sacked from his position as the commander-in-chief and replaced by the Tsar himself. Several offensives against the Germans in 1916 failed, including Lake Naroch Offensive and the Baranovichi Offensive. However, General Aleksei Brusilov oversaw a highly successful operation against Austria-Hungary that became known as the Brusilov Offensive, which saw the Russian army make large gains.

Fans of the 2013 zombie thriller World War Z are in for a treat as Paramount Pictures officially confirms the long-awaited sequel, World War Z 2. Set to bring back Brad Pitt as the relentless former UN investigator Gerry Lane, this new installment promises even bigger battles, global terror, and an evolved threat as humanity faces its greatest crisis yet.
In World War Z 2, the stakes are higher as the zombie virus has mutated, resulting in even faster, more cunning infected that challenge humanity’s remaining strongholds. Fans of the 2013 zombie thriller World War Z are in for a treat as Paramount Pictures officially confirms the long-awaited sequel, World War Z 2. Set to bring back Brad Pitt as the relentless former UN investigator Gerry Lane, this new installment promises even bigger battles, global terror, and an evolved threat as humanity faces its greatest crisis yet.
In World War Z 2, the stakes are higher as the zombie virus has mutated, resulting in even faster, more cunning infected that challenge humanity’s remaining strongholds. Picking up after the events of the original film, Gerry Lane is pulled back into action as reports of a new “variant” virus emerge from Asia and quickly spread. This strain is said to possess chilling new capabilities, making it even harder to control or combat. The narrative will explore fresh locales, from high-security bio-labs in Geneva to the overgrown cities of East Asia, with survivors and scientists racing against time.
Brad Pitt leads the cast, reprising his role as Gerry Lane, bringing his gravitas and determination to the front lines again. New cast members include British actress Jodie Comer, who will play a virologist with ties to a potential cure, and Korean actor Ma Dong-seok, who will portray a former military officer now leading a survivor community. Both characters add fresh, dynamic personalities to the ensemble, as each brings critical skills and personal stakes to the battle against the undead.

World War I was an international brutal conflict between 1914 and 1918.
Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire, also called the Central Powers, fought against Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Japan and the United States, which are the Allied Powers.
Thanks to new military technologies and the horrors of trench warfare, World War I saw unprecedented levels of carnage and destruction.
It ended with the defeat of the Central Powers and the death of more than 16 million people throughout Europe and the world.

Fans of the 2013 zombie thriller World War Z are in for a treat as Paramount Pictures officially confirms the long-awaited sequel, World War Z 2. Set to bring back Brad Pitt as the relentless former UN investigator Gerry Lane, this new installment promises even bigger battles, global terror, and an evolved threat as humanity faces its greatest crisis yet.
In World War Z 2, the stakes are higher as the zombie virus has mutated, resulting in even faster, more cunning infected that challenge humanity’s remaining strongholds. Picking up after the events of the original film, Gerry Lane is pulled back into action as reports of a new “variant” virus emerge from Asia and quickly spread. This strain is said to possess chilling new capabilities, making it even harder to control or combat. The narrative will explore fresh locales, from high-security bio-labs in Geneva to the overgrown cities of East Asia, with survivors and scientists racing against time.
Brad Pitt leads the cast, reprising his role as Gerry Lane, bringing his gravitas and determination to the front lines again. New cast members include British actress Jodie Comer, who will play a virologist with ties to a potential cure, and Korean actor Ma Dong-seok, who will portray a former military officer now leading a survivor community. Both characters add fresh, dynamic personalities to the ensemble, as each brings critical skills and personal stakes to the battle against the undead.

World War I
World War I (WWI or WW1), also known as the First World War, or the Great War, was a global war centred in Europe that began on 28 July 1914 and lasted until 11 November 1918. More than 70 million military personnel, including 60 million Europeans, were mobilised in one of the largest wars in history. Over 9 million combatants and 7 million civilians died as a result of the war (including the victims of a number of genocides), a casualty rate exacerbated by the belligerents' technological and industrial sophistication, and the tactical stalemate caused by trench warfare, a grueling form of warfare in which the defender held the advantage. It was one of the deadliest conflicts in history, and paved the way for major political changes, including revolutions in many of the nations involved.
The war drew in all the world's economic great powers, assembled in two opposing alliances: the Allies (based on the Triple Entente of the United Kingdom/British Empire, France and the Russian Empire) versus the Central Powers of Germany and Austria-Hungary. Although Italy was a member of the Triple Alliance alongside Germany and Austria-Hungary, it did not join the Central Powers, as Austria-Hungary had taken the offensive, against the terms of the alliance. These alliances were reorganised and expanded as more nations entered the war: Italy, Japan and the United States joined the Allies, while the Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria joined the Central Powers.
