Lake Bonneville
Lake Bonneville was a prehistoric pluvial lake that covered much of North America's Great Basin region. Most of the territory it covered was in present-day Utah, though parts of the lake extended into present-day Idaho and Nevada. Formed about 32,000 years ago, it existed until about 14,500 years ago, when a large portion of the lake was released through the Red Rock Pass in Idaho. Following the Bonneville Flood, as the release is now known, the lake receded to a level called the Provo Level. Many of the unique geological characteristics of the Great Basin are due to the effects of the lake.

Ashot I the Great () (died 826/830) was a presiding prince of Iberia (modern Georgia), first of the Bagratid family to have attained to this office c. 813. From his base in Tao-Klarjeti, he fought to enlarge the Bagratid territories and sought the Byzantine protectorate against the Arab encroachment until being murdered c. 830. This is the fastest Ferrari in the world. It currently holds the AA\BFMS record at 275.4mph. This was done with a down run of 276.152mph and a return run of 274.650mph. Unofficially the car has gone 292.3mph a couple years ago under different conditions. The car is powered by a 540 cubic inch BBC with twin Borg Warner 80mm turbo. The boost level during the record runs was 17lbs. We have built 6 of these cars and this car is the only on the does not have Ferrari power. The reason for this is that at Bonneville classes are separated by engine size. Currently Ferrari only builds engines up to 6 liter (V-12). To run in class B, A or double AA you must run larger cubic inch engines. We have run Ferrari powered cars in classes F (3.0 liter) and class C (5.0 liter) we also plan to run in class G (2.0 liter) next year. We are Ferrari guy's and would love to use only Ferrari power if larger engines were available.

John Buddenbaum, a metal fabricator and Eric Noyes, a NASA engineer set out to go very fast with a very small engine. With an engine not much bigger than that of an average size lawn mower John and Eric set the new world record of 144.891 mph with a 50 cc engine at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2008. Buddenbaum and Noyes are going GREEN. They are testing an electric battery pack in 2009.

Run 6 of 6. This was a "video run" as the camera was right in front of Paul's face. We had some side wind (notice the bike is leaning) but the camera was angled a bit so it looks worse than it was. Paul's previous run was faster at 218.6 mph and is the first electric motorcycle to go over 200 mph. Check out the black and orange markers on the sides of the track. They are 1/4 mile apart. By the way we used 18 cents of electricity on this run and were getting the equivalent of over 50 mpg at over 200 mph. The amount of energy in the batteries would allow over 100 miles of range at normal highway speeds (not 200+).

The turbo Suzuki Hayabusa of Heads Up Performance (headsupturbos.com) sets records at SCTA-BNI Bonneville Speedweek in August 2007. Rider Scott Horner and team Horner/Thompson set two records for unfaired (naked) motorcycles. They bumped the existing record in the 1350cc M-BF class from 186.574 mph to 205.589 mph two way average and the 1350cc M-BG from a 195.271 mph record to 209.793 mph two way average. The 209 record earned Scott a place in history with induction into the prestigious Bonneville 200 MPH Club. The 205 mph record still stands, the 209 record was exceeded later in the week. Scott reached a top average speed of 213.373 mph during the event with a peak of 216 on GPS. He gave much credit to the APEX Speed Technology ECU for a solid week of thrashing his bike with no issues. APEX also supplied the ChaseCam PDR100 that provided the on bike footage. apexspeedtech.com In July, Scott entered the El Mirage 200 MPH Club when he bumped a record of 202.107 set in 1999 to 206.761 mph. There are many people in history who are commonly appended with the phrase "the Great", or who were called that or an equivalent phrase in their own language. Other languages have their own suffixes such as e Bozorg and e azam in Persian and Urdu respectively.
In Persia, the title "the Great" at first seems to be a colloquial version of the Old Persian title "Great King". This title was first used by the conqueror Cyrus II of Persia.[1]
The Persian title was inherited by Alexander III of Macedon (336–323 BC) when he conquered the Persian Empire, and the epithet "Great" eventually became personally associated with him. The first reference (in a comedy by Plautus)[2] assumes that everyone knew who "Alexander the Great" was; however, there is no earlier evidence that Alexander III of Macedon was called "the Great".
The early Seleucid kings, who succeeded Alexander in Persia, used "Great King" in local documents, but the title was most notably used for Antiochus the Great (223–187 BC).
Later rulers and commanders began to use the epithet "the Great" as a personal name, like the Roman general Pompey. Others received the surname retrospectively, like the Carthaginian Hanno and the Indian emperor Ashoka the Great. Once the surname gained currency, it was also used as an honorific surname for people without political careers, like the philosopher Albert the Great.
As there are no objective criteria for "greatness", the persistence of later generations in using the designation greatly varies. For example, Louis XIV of France was often referred to as "The Great" in his lifetime but is rarely called such nowadays, while Frederick II of Prussia is still called "The Great". A later Hohenzollern - Wilhelm I - was often called "The Great" in the time of his grandson Wilhelm II, but rarely later.
