Last Days is a 2005 American film directed, produced, and written by Gus Van Sant, and is a fictionalized account of the last days of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. It was released to theaters in the United States on July 22, 2005, and was produced by HBO. The film stars Michael Pitt as the character Blake, based on Kurt Cobain. Lukas Haas, Asia Argento, Nicole Vicius, Scott Patrick Green and Thadeus A. Thomas also star in the film. This is the first film from Pictureshouse, a joint venture between TimeWarner's New Line Cinema and HBO Films subsidiaries to release independent, foreign and documentary films.
Van Sant has stated he had contemplated the project for nearly a decade.[citation needed] At one time, he wanted to do a biographical film about Cobain, but decided against the idea out of concern over the potential of a lawsuit by Cobain's widow, Courtney Love. He was not sure how Cobain's fans and family would react to the film. He spoke to Love several times over the years about his project and recently expressed his concern that it may be painful for her to see the film. Actress Asia Argento, who plays a character reminiscent of Jessica Hopper (Michael 'Cali' Dewitt's girlfriend) in the film, stated, "It's been written that I play Courtney Love, and it's not true. I'm so upset. I don't know why people say that. I feel very sorry for her. She's been demonized and I feel sorry for anybody that's lost like that. But no, I play a character that's very dorky."
Holly Brook Hafermann (born February 23, 1986) better known by her stage name Skylar Grey, is an five-time Grammy-nominated American multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Grey was signed to Machine Shop Recordings under the name Holly Brook. She released her debut album as Holly Brook, Like Blood Like Honey, in 2006. She co-wrote the three versions of "Love the Way You Lie" (for Eminem and Rihanna) with Alex da Kid, who signed her to his Wonderland Music label. She was featured as a guest vocalist on Fort Minor's "Where'd You Go" and "Be Somebody", Diddy-Dirty Money's "Coming Home", Dr. Dre's "I Need a Doctor", Lupe Fiasco's "Words I Never Said" and Kaskade's "Room for Happiness".
Grey performed professionally as a child in a folk duo with her mother called Generations. Together, (with producer/engineer Randy Green) they independently produced three albums, Dream Maker, Lift Me, and Millennial Child/Waiting For You. Grey started her first band at the age of fifteen after 'sneaking' into bars, working with jazz musicians including Jeff Eckles, Tim Whalen and Leo Sidran in Madison, Wisconsin.
The Lox are an American hip hop group composed of Jadakiss, Sheek Louch, and Styles P. They were originally signed to Sean Combs' Bad Boy Records before joining Ruff Ryders Entertainment, and are now a part of their own label, D-Block Records
Jason "Jadakiss" Phillips, David Styles "Styles P", and Sean "Sheek Louch" Jacobs, began their musical careers in their hometown of Yonkers, New York. As high school students they formed a group called "The Bomb Squad" and began performing at local shows and producing their own demos. In 1994 they appeared on Main Source's "Set It Off" from the album "Fuck What You Think". While the local rap scene was being dominated by artists like Raw Rome, Lord Devon and a young DMX, the group began to gain attention for their lyrical style and ability to present tales of urban life. The group eventually changed their name to "The Warlocks" and continued developing a fan base by appearing on underground mix tapes. One of their admirers was the "Queen of Hip hop soul," fellow Yonkers native Mary J. Blige. Mary passed their demo tape on to Bad Boy CEO Sean "Puffy" Combs who signed them to a deal. At the behest of Combs, The Warlocks would later change their name to "The L.O.X" which stands for Living Off eXperience.
David I. August (born 1970) is an associate professor of computer science at Princeton University specializing in compilers and computer architecture. August is a strong advocate of alternatives to parallel programming to address the software impact of multi-core computing.
August was born in Troy, New York and raised in Parsippany, New Jersey, graduated summa cum laude in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1993, and received his Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2000 under advisor Wen-mei Hwu. His thesis, entitled Systematic Compilation for Predicated Execution, represented a breakthrough in compilers. Specifically, it showed how a compiler could generate efficient code for architectures with branch predication, such as Intel's IA-64.
In 1999, August was selected as one of five new Ph.D.'s to watch by the Chronicle of Higher Education. Since then, he has produced dozens of articles relating to compilers and computer architecture. The IEEE Computer Society's annual "Top Picks from Computer Architecture Conferences" has recognized his work on microprocessor fault tolerance and his work on multi-core computation for relevance and significance to the field.
The Cure are an English alternative rock band formed in Crawley, West Sussex in 1976. The band has experienced several line-up changes, with frontman, vocalist, guitarist and principal songwriter Robert Smith being the only constant member. The Cure first began releasing music in the late 1970s with its debut album Three Imaginary Boys (1979); this, along with several early singles, placed the band as part of the post-punk and New Wave movements that had sprung up in the wake of the punk rock revolution in the United Kingdom. During the early 1980s, the band's increasingly dark and tormented music helped form the gothic rock genre.
After the release of Pornography (1982), the band's future was uncertain and Smith was keen to move past the gloomy reputation his band had acquired. With the 1982 single "Let's Go to Bed" Smith began to place a pop sensibility into the band's music (as well as a unique stage look). The Cure's popularity increased as the decade wore on, especially in the United States where the songs "Just Like Heaven", "Lovesong" and "Friday I'm in Love" entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart. By the start of the 1990s, The Cure were one of the most popular alternative rock bands in the world. The band is estimated to have sold 27 million albums as of 2004. The Cure have released thirteen studio albums, 10 EPs and over thirty singles during the course of their career. Since 2010, they have been working on a fourteenth studio album.
Can I live til my last day
Hittin honies that be na-sty
Gettin money in the fast way
And I only care halfway
But I still can't let you pass me
Yo what's beef to you, three niggaz with hoodies and bats
That ain't shit compared to one small cat with gats
When we came here we cut off all kind circulation
Breathin, eatin, the whole situation
When we do our shit we do our shit for real
While you take your money for your deal and make your own beats
Compose your own sheets, that's aight but chill
I'ma spend that mil and cop only hot shit
Rock top shit you know how The Lox get
Then you can see me flyin in the Bentley cockpit
Lox and B-I, hold our grica down for years
Gang not, but we been had our black tears
Niggaz under the stairs only understand what we got
Underground, all above must get shot
You couldn't book me Dano, see Luciano put the burners
to all y'all, what nigga bring it I'm callin y'all
You already know what it's about when I run up in your house
Put the gun up in your mouth and get the money out the couch
Hearin you out is senseless, perhaps for instance
I give this faggot a french kiss
Black gloves, no prints, dark tints
Word on the street they ain't heard from him since
You know about life after kicked the kid in
Since me and my mi-dan can flip seven gri-dams
Scri-dam the flow is forbidd-en
Either you ridin or you dyin cause we swingin iron
Lox and Poppa, turning niggaz into Jim Hoffa
Who gon stop us, it's your last joint double copper
You gettin money or your runnin from the Feds
Ain't nothin over here but sixteen and one in the head
And I solemnly swear
That all y'all niggaz out there got a problem this year
Before you think of keepin me down, heatin me down
The flow like water get deepe and you drown
with no soul, many niggaz roll with no dough
Even the small Dunn got a little black hole
Your destiny is somethin you can never figure out
Niggaz is never happy til there's blood up in your mouth
There's a lot of killers, but who the hell are you to play in this?
A lot are dead, how the hell you take the pain?
Live with it got money you better get with it
My man had the thug in him did his bid with it
Get married to the game but never have a kid with it
Advice from the wise, slice the pies
Too many schemes divides, when dreams collide
Teams provide, war for the street to absorb
Stashed in the ceiling and you slept on the floor
Only a blind dove'll fall in love with a whore
Uhh, uhh, uhh
Who the fuck wanna squeeze?
My Desert Ease make MC's freeze
You wakin up in cold sweats, they just dreams
You still apoligizin, analyzin, my size and your size and
realizin, a fist fight would be asinine
You just pop wines I must pop nines
Genuine steel piece, nozzle in your grill piece
You're shook up, two bricks, every cook up
We can hook up, all I see is the future
Disrespect, I shoot ya
By the way, them bricks, get flipped weekly
Sold by soldiers that mix weed with the leak leak
Die for a dollar nigga, life ain't sweet
Play for keeps wet shirts with experts on the creep
I be the mob fiance, about to marry it
Illegal transactions in Farragut with Arabics
Why not, they fit twelve up in the bedroom
Imagine what they stash is like, make you a classic like
my first LP, beef with me is unhealthy
Fuck around and get an ul-cer, loose your pulse or
collapsed lung, look how many gats I brung
For them homos, still doin promos
Break both your legs you're movin slow-mo, got shined to glow mo'
Alright, sir, which side of the
street would you like to be on.
Yeah, that one. That side right there.
Yeah, okay.
The taxi driver is heard pulling over to let the man out.
Okay, that will be four-ninety please.
Yeah, yeah, here's five dollars. Keep the change.
Oh, fuck you!
The car door slams shut and the man is heard walking.
May, I help you?
Yeah, ah, can, can, I have one for Little Kim. Hardcore.
That will be ten dollars.
He hands her money and then walks through a door.
Fuckin' weirdo.
Yeah, may I help you?
Yeah, ah, can I get a small order of popcorn, and
ah, ah, a large order of butter and just like a lot
of napkins please.
Butter? Anyway, am, will that be all?
Yeah, ah...
That'll be six-ninety-five.
The patron hands another bill over.
Ah, man, why this shit so slimey?
Huh!
The patron is then heard walking from the concession stand
into the screen room. Lil' Kim and a man are heard moaning
and having sex. Porno music is heard in the background.
The patron unzips his zipper. Five seconds later and a
splashing noise is heard as the patron begins masturbating.
Yeah. Yeah, baby. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Come on, baby.
Yeah. Yeah. Mmm. Yeah. Yeah. Kim. Come on, Kim.
Come on. Yeah. Yeah.
The moans from the screen and the splash sound from the
masturbating patron continue.
Yeah. Come on. Kim. Kim. Yeah. Yeah.
Last day of your life, it goes
In a second; shadows of your past
Increase your agony.
Emptiness of life, eternal pain that
Shows all truth;
It’s too late for you, to reach the
Happiness you’re looking for.
Last day of life!
Hear the sounds of your life,
Touch its soft skin; see the sun at the west,
You won’t see it again.
Last breath of life, you try to keep it
But it’s taken from you; watch the colors of your life,
Is the final second.
Last day of life!
Last day of your life, it goes
In a second; shadows of your past
Increase your agony.
Emptiness of life, eternal pain that
Shows all truth;
It’s too late for you, to reach the
Happiness you’re looking for.
[Phonte:]
You know... I'm dedicate this back to the days
where I was workin' in the Department store, youknowhatImsayin?
Before this rap shit popped off and all that
I was this lil' nigga workin' in the deparment store
And you know workin' there
You see all kinds of things all kinds of races
You see they behavior, don't get offended at this track
I'm an equal opportunity racist, I hate all ya'll
From my man, Mick Boogie
I'm retail's nightmare, young black and just don't
give a fuck; I just want my discount, give it up
Twenty percent off of all slacks and all clothes
I just took this job just to spice up my wardrobe
So I come in every morning and I'm walkin' a tight rope
Smile at the management, wave at the white folks (Hi, Bob!)
Gotta meet a quota, but I don't know how
And all these broke motherfuckers just tellin' me the browsin'
Till around eleven, that's when you see the soccer moms
Spendin' they husband's money, that's how they roll up
Got three little girls, steady fuckin' up my store
And an eight year old, still ridin' in a stroller
Around one, the Mexicans come in the store
Coppin' all the shit that rocked five summers ago
(Yeah, homes!) They gotta be the realest niggaz alive
Buy 400 dollars woth of Nautica and pay for it in fives
Around six or seven, that's when you see the blacks
The girls wit' big booties that rock they work badges
They walk through your store just to get to the food court
They ain't buyin shit, homie, ain't no need to ask em'
Around closin', that's when you see the Indians
You thinkin' too yourself, they're "oh, so nice"
Well the fact is, dog, you a nigga to them too
They in there like (Excuse me, my friend, what is the price?)
Nigga, the price says ten, so that means ten brother
Don't try to talk me down, homie, this ain't Calcutta
(What? I'd like to see the manager) Nigga I am the manager
Don't make me act a fool for these motherfuckin' cameras
They call me in the office like "I'm sorry Mr. Coleman"
But your behavior is not befiting of this store
So I say "I got my fall clothes already, today's my last day
FUCK Y'ALLS
That's just how it went down, man, I swear to god, yo
And nigga, don't think the nigga didn't get the nice polos and shit
Before he walked out, though, don't think he ain' get them
Don't think he ain't get 20% off the fly timbs and shit
Don't think he ain't get them, 20% wit' a 50% mark down, nigga
For real, don't think he ain't get that, cuz he damn, sure got it
I swear the god man, I hope this rap shit go on and on
I hope it gone, cuz I swear I don't ever wanna go back to that shit no more
I'm not lyin', I'm so sincere, I never wanna go back
Cuz it's like all the jobs that I quit
I know my managers is waitn' for me to come back
Sayin, I know they waitin' to rub it in my face
So if I came back, them motherfuckers would probably
Be rappin' at me and shit, you know what I'm sayin
All in my face and shit
"Oh, can't stop, won't stop, nigga you back
I thought you were rappin', what happened to that?
Your album flopped, nigga, now your ass is back"
You know what I'm sayin, you those white folks be, knamsayin?
The comapny picnic, they want you to be they entertainment and shit
"Oh, Phonte he raps, he doest the rap thing!
Come on up here, do this rap for corporate!"
FUCK, Y'ALL and FUCK corporate
I ain't tapdancin' for you crackers!
Fuck this shit! I hope this album sells
Cuz I don't wanna go back to that
Please but this album, GetBack, 2007
So much frustration
So much disappointment
So many complaints
The world seems unfair
So much to do and so little time
What of your deeds would you regret
What would you do if this was your last day?
WHAT WOULD YOU DO
IF THIS WAS YOUR LAST DAY?
If it's your last day on Earth, what would you change?
Even if you cannot stay here, would you rearrange?
[2x]
Would you regret or transgress the past mind?
Would you derail all the things you have done?
All those broken promises and those lies
All the ones you hurt
It's not a shame to be satisfied
Even intact you'll feel alright
If it's your last day on Earth, what would you change?
Even if you cannot stay here, would you rearrange?
[2x]
It's not a shame to be satisfied
Even intact you'll feel alright
If it's your last day on Earth, what would you change?
Even if you cannot stay here, would you rearrange?
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
A million miles away from where you are
How dare let you get away under these stars
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
A thousand bridges burn I won't go back
A hundred lesson learn and I won't ...
What would you say what would you do what would you hold on to
Where would you go when nothing to lose
Would you change who would you love would you
Do it all the same if I tell you is your last day
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
These memories are scars from my past
No roof or broking arms cause they don't last
What would you say what would you do what would you hold on to
Where would you go when nothing to lose
Would you change who would you love would you
Do it all the same if I tell you is your last day
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Last day your last day
Last day your last day
Last day your last day
What would you say what would you do what would you hold on to
Where would you go when nothing to lose
Would you change who would you love would you
Do it all the same if I tell you is your last day
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
It was a hot late night when I remember kicking back
Bumpin the oldies out the homey Dopey's Cadillac
Parked on the block drinkin buestos sellin dope
Me, my homey Joker, Sharpe, my primo locs
Watchin out, keep an eye out for the black and white
Kickin back, bendin days on a crazy ass night
The block was rollin just like any other day
The only thing I didn't know, I was gonna get sprayed
Damn loco, a rafla hit the block
Fools hanging out, next thing I knew I was shot
Down I fell, it seemed like it was all a dream
All I kept hearin was the homeboys scream
"Look ese, don't die" he kept saying
I tried to get up but in his arms I kept laying
I look around and seen my homies everywhere
Faces lookin down at me, then I started getting scared
I was feeling cold, my body all numbed up
I looked at my homey but I couldn't even talk
Please dear God, don't let this be my last day
I closed my eyes and went into a deep daze
[Chorus]
Somebody please
Give me just a minute
I never knew that this would be
My last day
The juras came, they blocked the calle all up
All I kept hearin was the homey got shot
The medics worked on me, and the juras all around
Hittin up my homeys all about what went down
I got rushed to the hospital, I guess to cut me up
Slowly I was dying, damn I know I'm stuck
I hear the doctors comin rushing tryin to save me
Theres nothing else to do they said, but wait and see
Now I'm stranded in a coma, on a life support machine
With my family around me, but no way to win
Mom starts crying, and my Pops is holding tight
With tears in his eyes, telling me to fight
Everything went black, and I got cold as ice
When a big flash of light appeared before my eyes
It's a shame we die, for the game will never end
But now I know, now I understand
[Chorus]
Now I know I'm gone, but that's the way it all goes
I'm lying in the casket in some gangster clothes
Homeys walking up, to pay their last respects
With tears in their eyes, dressed up in all black
(I just got something in my eyes)
"Rest In Peace homeboy" is what they all say
Soon I'll be buried, I'll be on my way
From ashes to ashes, and dust to dust
It's payback time, and in my homeboys I trust
An eye for an eye, that's what it's all about
I know my hood'll get back cuz I had mucho clout
I guess this is it, now it's time to ride
In the big black hurst, with chrome S's on the side
Bumper to bumper all the way down the street
Down to the cemetery, rollin deep
Headin down the Eastside on my way
I never thought I'd come to see my last day
I Pray that the sun shines in the windows
Like it did on thursday
Wont sleep the night before ill be up just wondering my life
I would call on my peeps
Early in the morning to come later for a party
Id spend the day with my angels at the beach
Listening to the shore
That would be the way theyd remember me
If this was my last day here on earth (earth earth earth)
If this was my last day
If this was my last day here on earth (earth earth earth)
Oooo earth
Pray that its a saturday is a better day for me to go on
I can be free on the weekends
I use to live for the weekends (ooooo)
Call you up and acknowledge you to come through
And we do things do things over and over and over again
Just when you blow me out (you blow me out)
Thats when my heart would stop
If this was my last day here on earth (earth earth earth)
If it was my last day if it was my last day here
If this was my last day here on earth (earth earth earth)
If it was my last day here on earth
Ooooo earth
Never really thought about it
So carefree
Young and just doing my own thing
Really i be on bended knee (really id be on bended knee)
Praying that he opens his gates for me
Spend the day with my angels at the beach
Listening to the shore
That would be the way theyd remember me
If this was my last day here on earth (earth earth earth)
Would you remember me? (ooooooo)
(If i was gone) if this was my last day on earth (earth earth earth)
Would you remember me
If it was my last day
This is the last day of your life
Not in 3D
Instead in 2D, flat, don't pull me out
I like the snow and better still
I like it when you're not around
Give me my loan back
All of my ex-girlfriends they were shit
(chorus)
This is the last day of your life
And where are you going to go now?
This is the last day of your life
This is a still like pipe smoking momma
And she's mad
Words were meant to be lies
Didn't score no tries
Out of your mouth the golden palace
The teeth of a million days
All of these notes and music, hey hey hey
Won't you listen to what she says?
And on a toilet dad walks in
As she tries to do her thing
And everybody's gone surfing again
He was just hiding
'Side of the road
Take with the fly high yeah
The love road
You hold your head so high
So much for the love
She was so blinded
Too far gone to know
'Cause if you believe
She's trying to conceive
If left it to me
Just to go on
To know
You're too much for the love
She was just building
She was going away
I take what the hell you really need babe
Take it far away
You didn't ask if you really need to
Up on the beauty hill
You shouldn't took the place for me
Well on that very last yeah, well on that very last yeah
'Cause if you believe
She was trying to conceive
You've left it to me
Just to go on
(lyrics by Kay Hartung; music: Sascha Klamp)
Running fast and running far.
Falling down, but the gun is on my head.
I'll never, I'll never disturb in you.
Please, please let me go.
And the nature closes its eyes.
It's weak and without power.
And it must look on.
And the blood runs red.
One day the leaf will turn.
And you'll be the one who cries.
And you plead for your life.
Please, please let me go.
And the nature closes its eyes.
It's weak and with last power.
And it looks down.
All my friends are dead or they are in N.A
They don't get up they stay right where they lay
Don't blame me if
I can't save you now
Beacause I try but I just don't know how
Now's the time to make a change
I don't wanna live that way
Morons there are in the past
I live each day like it was the last
Now all my friends are dead or they are on their way
I'm covered in their blood my skin is grey
This might be the best that
It's ever been
Yeah I know I'll never sing this way again
Now's the time to make a change
I don't wanna live that way
Morons there are in the past
I live each day like it was the last
I can't believe that we have come this far
We knew this all along
Now its on
My hearts been racing fast right from the start
We knew this all along
Now its on
On this last day
We washed the pain away
I know you're not afraid (I'm not afraid!)
Now you're on your way
Reporting to reclaim your place
I think its safe to say its starting
On this last day (On this last day!)
I can't believe that we have come this far
We knew this all along (All along!)
Now its on (Now its on!)
My hearts been racing fast right from the start
We knew this all along (All along!)
Now its on (Now its on!)
On this last day
We rise above the flames
This fear in me no longer remains (No longer remains!)
I know your face
Your heart has been changed and erased
I think its safe to say its starting
On this last day (On this last day!)
I can't believe that we have come this far
We knew this all along (All along!)
Now its on (Now its on!)
My hearts been racing fast right from the start
We knew this all along (All along!)
Now its on (Now its on!)
I can't believe that we have come this far
We knew this all along (All along!)
Now its on (Now its on!)
My hearts been racing fast right from the start
We knew this all along (All along!)
Now its on (Now its on!)
On this last day
We wash the pain away
I know you're not afraid
Now you're on your way
Reporting to reclaim your place
I think its safe to say its starting
On this last day
Words that never surface actions that never
spoke I'm getting tired of holding back how often do I bite
my tongue show you more consideration it's time to try not
to let it slack these days have bled one into another your
actions have led me into confusion these days go by one into
another and now I try to stop your illusions it feels so good
inside to take back all the control I can't afford to give it away
this time I won't listen you won't persuade me with something
you have to say if happiness is state of mind then I'm heading
for the border the state I'm in right now gives me no
sense of order so today I decide to put myself at number
