Kachō Kōsaku Shima (課長島耕作 Kachō Shima Kōsaku) lit. Section Chief Kōsaku Shima is the first in a number of Japanese manga series, by Kenshi Hirokane, about a fictional salaryman named Kōsaku Shima. The series ran from 1983-1992 under this title, winning the 1991 Kodansha Manga Award in the General category. It depicts the life of a salaryman, a Japanese white-collar worker who devotes his life to his company. The manga have been translated from Japanese into English (partially; through Kodansha Bilingual Editions), French and German. At the start of the long-running series, Shima Kōsaku is a kachō, or section chief, of a huge conglomerate, Hatsushiba Electric. He is later promoted to buchō (division chief) and eventually promoted to manager and executive-director, and with each promotion the title of the series changed as well. He is now promoted to the president of Hatsushiba Electric. And the title changed "Shachō" Shima Kōsaku, which means "President Kōsaku Shima". The fictional conglomerate is modeled after Panasonic, or Matsushita Electric, where Hirokane worked before and is highly accurate in its portrayal of Japanese corporate ...

Subwoofer with a high efficiency
Subwoofer is built with high efficiency in the subwoofer is two speakers Technics (production matsushita electric), for each other, they are flared port, plus an additional duct for removal of stray, strong damping. Sub works fine and serves me for 6 years. A small sub I use to watch movies, listen to music at large.

Panasonic nukes 500 American jobs
www.EmploymentCrossing.com Japan's Matsushita Electric is shuttering its Panasonic car stereo manufacturing plant in Georgia, cutting loose 500 people American workers. The plant closing is one of the largest business losses in the Peach state this year. Panasonic workers were notified of the decision on Thursday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The company will still operate its product development department and regional administrative headquarters at the Peachtree City location, which opened in 1987. Panasonic says they are responding to the troubled US auto market, which has been affected by high gas prices, falling home prices and the poor economy. "All the companies that supply the auto industry right now are affected by the downturn," said Jim Reilly, spokesperson for Panasonic North America. The closing will happen in phases over the next 16 months.

Another Day, Another Tape Deck
There are two things in this video...a little demonstration using the frequency counter built into a multimeter showing how close you can get to proper speed using only your ears, a working tape deck, blank tape, and a personal computer with audio editing software that can generate test tones. Later, I also adjust the speed on the Sony TC-RX77ES deck, which would appear to date from mid-1991 based on date codes inside it. There are also a lot of Matsushita Electric (Panasonic) parts in the TC-RX77ES--including the motor and microcontroller. Although the Sony deck was marketed as a premium product and has a ton of bells and whistles, I feel rather strongly that the simpler Technics deck is a better unit--despite being quite a bit older, it's still quieter, more stable in the speed department and (to me) sounds better than the Sony.
