Jackson "Jacko" Gill (born 20 December 1994) is a shot putter from New Zealand. At the 2010 World Junior Championships in Athletics, he won a gold medal in the shot put at only &1000000000000001500000015 years, &10000000000000213000000213 days, surpassing Usain Bolt (who was &1000000000000001500000015 years, &10000000000000332000000332 days old when he won the 200 metres in 2002) as the youngest-ever male junior champion.

At the 2010 World Junior Championships in Athletics, as a 15-year-old, Gill won the gold in the shot put (6 kg) with a distance of 20.76 m, beating 18- and 19-year-olds and becoming the youngest-ever male junior champion.

In 2010, prior to the World Junior Championships, Gill threw the 5 kg shot 22.53 m at an event in Stockholm, Sweden, exceeding the best-known performances with that weight for 15- and 16-year-olds. He improved to 22.60 m in finishing second at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games despite being unwell. On 11 December 2010, at the New Zealand National Secondary Schools Championships, Gill set a youth (under-18) world-best performance of 23.86 m (5 kg).

Valerie Kasanita Adams (formerly known as Valerie Vili), ONZM (born 6 October 1984) is a shot putter from New Zealand. She is the reigning women's Olympic champion and three-time World champion, two-time Commonwealth and World Indoor champion. She currently holds the New Zealand, Oceanian, Commonwealth and equal World Championship records with a personal best throw of 21.24 metres.

Adams is one of only seven athletes (along with Usain Bolt, Veronica Campbell-Brown, Jacques Freitag, Yelena Isinbayeva, Jana Pittman, and Dani Samuels) to win world championships at the youth, junior, and senior level of an athletic event.

In 1998 Adams first met former javelin thrower Kirsten Hellier, who would become her coach for the next 11 years.

Adams first came to prominence when winning the World Youth Championships in 2001, with a throw of 16.87 m. She followed this up in 2002 by becoming World Junior champion, throwing 17.73 m, and had her first taste of senior success winning a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games with 17.45 m.
