The following events occurred in radio in 2009.

Gloria Gaynor (born Gloria Fowles; September 7, 1949) is an American singer, best known for the disco era hits; "I Will Survive" (Hot 100 number 1, 1979), "Never Can Say Goodbye" (Hot 100 number 9, 1974), "Let Me Know (I Have a Right)" (Hot 100 number 42, 1980) and "I Am What I Am" (R&B number 82, 1983).

Gaynor was a singer with the Soul Satisfiers, a jazz/pop band, in the 1960s. Her first solo single was "She'll Be Sorry/Let Me Go Baby" (1965).

Her first real success came in 1975 with the release of her album Never Can Say Goodbye, which established her as a disco artist. The first side of this album consisted of three disco songs ("Honey Bee", "Never Can Say Goodbye" and "Reach Out, I'll Be There"), with no breaks in between the songs. This 19-minute dance marathon proved to be enormously popular, especially at dance clubs. All three songs were released as singles via radio edits, and all of them became hits. The album was instrumental in introducing disco music to the public, "Never Can Say Goodbye" becoming the first song to top Billboard magazine's dance chart. Capitalizing on the success of her first album, Gloria Gaynor quickly released her second album, Experience Gloria Gaynor, later that same year. While this album was also successful, it was not quite as popular as her previous album in the mainstream.

DJ Tarkan (Turkish: Tarkan Örs) was born in Frankfurt, Germany. He is Turkey's No.1 DJ, charted number 78 in the world by DJ Magazine's most important poll for dance music in 2006.

Since his early childhood in Frankfurt, LPs and singles have been his favorite toys. His family's interest in music has played an important role in the growth of his love for music. In 1985, his family decided to move to Istanbul, where Tarkan continued playing his vinyls and recording tapes after coming home from school.

His professional music career started after he finished university and became a resident at Power FM. Right after showing up in the music scene as a radio DJ, he started to perform at the biggest clubs in Istanbul. Running fast in his music career, Tarkan had to take a short break to complete his military service from April to November 1997.

Upon his return to Istanbul, he took scene at “Radio 2019” as a DJ and Production Manager, and at the same time, he was performing at different clubs in Istanbul. After the radio station was sold to a TV channel and changed its genre, DJ Tarkan continued playing his radio sets at FG till May 2007. His reputation in Turkey was spreading and the number of people appreciating his sound - increasing with every event. The big break came in 2002 with the DJ of the Year award.

Big Ali (earlier Breakingz) is an American singer-songwriter, DJ, and rapper born in Queens, New York and based in Paris, France since 2001. He is signed to Up Music, a Warner Music label, and has released his debut album Louder in May 2009 on the record label. The album featuring numerous French and international producers and artists. "Hit the Floor" taken from the album became his first big single in October 2008 followed by "Neon Music" released in March 2009. A third single "Universal Party" followed in November 2009.

In collaborations, the joint 2006 single "Rock This Party (Everybody Dance Now)" by Sinclar and Cutee-B featuring Dollarman, Big Ali & Makedah stayed at #1 for 4 weeks on the Ultratop 40 Belgian charts. In 2007, it became a #1 hit in Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs.

The latest collaboration he did with Serbian singer Dara Bubamara.

Big Ali wrote his first lyrics at the age of 8. He created a crew of DJs called "World Famous Vynil Squad". He also had radio and TV collaborations such radio show "Full Thrtottle" with national US emissions in led by his friend Fatman Scoop and is creator of the show Jumpoff hosted by Ed Lover and Doctor Dre. He hosted his own show "The Magic Hour" at the Vassar College in New York.

Shaun Baker is a DJ from the north of England but has for over 20 years been based in Paderborn, Germany. He has been playing the worldwide club scene over 20 years. Together with his friend and partner Sebastian Wolter he also produces music. This musical partnership has over the past few years given the dance scene some great tracks to dance to, for example "Xplode 2" which hit the number 1 position in every German dance chart at the same time.

Other singles are "Push" (also a dance chart & sales hit) and "Bakerman", a co-op with the cult stars Laid Back from Denmark. Laid Back were so impressed with the new version of Bakerman they hooked Shaun Baker & Sebastian Wolter up with Lars von Trier, the world-famous film director from Denmark who has produced the video clip for the original version of Bakerman. He gave permission to use the original video for their version. It was #1 in most German dance charts again and the peak position in the German sale charts was 39. The next single “V.I.P.” released February 2007 performed well in Germany but received fantastic results in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. ” V.I.P.” hit the #1 position in the dance, radio and sale charts in both countries. Late summer 2007 he and Sebastian Wolter found their own record label called Uptunes. The debut release from Uptunes was his next single “Power” which is based on the very popular “Xplode” sound, but this time featuring singing vocals made the peak positions in various dance charts in Germany, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. “Power” also led the German dance download charts. According to Uptunes the album is being prepared and the expected release date is planned for summer 2008. The next single “Hey Hi Hello” features a remix from Alex Christensen and will be released first in Slovakia and the Czech Republic this spring and later in Germany and elsewhere.
