7 Wonders of India: Jantar Mantar
Built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II of Jaipur in the year 1724, Jantar Mantar is one of the most intriguing structures of the capital, one that explodes in a burst of questions in the mind of the inquisitive tourist. The Jantar Mantar is not only a timekeeper of celestial bodies, it also tells a lot about the technological achievements under the Rajput kings and their attempt to resolve the mysteries regarding astronomy. The Jantar Mantar of Delhi is only one of the five observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh II.

Delhi-Jaipur highway beyond Manesar
A bus ascending to a pass in the Aravallis hills short of Jaipur city, Rajasthan, India. One can see an ancient Rajasthani fort in the distance, atop an Aravalli hill. Jaipur, also popularly known as the 'Pink City', is the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Rajasthan. Founded on 18 November 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the ruler of Amber, the city today has a population of 3.1 million. Jaipur is one of the finest planned cities of India, located in the semi-desert lands of Rajasthan. The city which once had been the capital of the royalty now is the capital city of Rajasthan. The very structure of Jaipur resembles the taste of the Rajputs and the Royal families. At present, Jaipur is a major business centre with all requisites of a metropolitan city. Some of the famous areas in Jaipur include Mansarovar, the largest housing colony in Asia, Sanganer, famous for handmade paper industry and Sanganeri hand block-printing, Bapu Nagar, Malviya Nagar and Vaishali Nagar. The city is remarkable among pre-modern Indian cities for the width and regularity of its streets which are laid out into six sectors separated by broad streets 34 m (111 ft) wide. The urban quarters are further divided by networks of gridded streets. Five quarters wrap around the east, south, and west sides of a central palace quarter, with a sixth quarter immediately to the east. The Palace quarter encloses a sprawling palace complex, (Hawa Mahal), formal gardens, and a small lake ...

Elefante in India-Samode, Jaipur

JAIPUR India
Along historic walls, numerous beautiful gates lead into the centre of Jaipur. The city's well- preserved old town, built on the orders of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, gives the impression that it is almost exactly as it was at the time of its creation in 1727. In the 18th century, it was believed that both the city and palace were unlikely to encounter hostile attack but subsequent events prove this not to be so. Although a number of military defenses existed in 1748, the city was attacked by the Marathas. The exquisite residence of the Maharajas, the Hawa Mahal, otherwise known as the Palace Of The Wind, is now regarded as the finest architectural landmark in Jaipur. However, hiding beyond its magnificent honeycomb-like facade there is a simple staircase: for the building was the domain of the royal harem! Outside the city, close to the route that led to the former capital of Amber, a fairytale-like castle rises up from a small artificial lake. The Jal Mahal was built in the 18th century by Madho Singh II for the royal hunt. Due to its many fascinating architectural and cultural treasures, Jaipur is deservedly one of the most popular travel destinations in India.

albert hall in jaipur
mahesh jangid presentation. Central Museum or the Albert Hall lies in the Ram Niwas Garden. It is a vast and verdant garden housing a zoo, a greenhouse, an aviary, a museum and a sports ground. Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II built it in 1868 as a relief project for his famine struck subjects. The Albert Hall has been modelled on the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and is afine exampleof Indo-Saracenic style of architecture. The hall was named after Albert, the consort of Queen Victoria's husband. The garden of paradise has come alive with fish, birds, animals and trees. Sculptures worth research include a tiny turbanned lady of the 2nd century BC, a stone Shiva head of the 8th century and 18th century wooden figures from a chariot of the former Banswara state. The museum also has some melancholic specimens on display like a horse skeleton, a human skeleton, and a stuffed cobra. Sometime back the Ravindra Manch with an auditorium, a modern gallery and an open-air theatre has been added to the museum to promote cultural events. Visiting Hours : 0930-1630 Hrs. , Entry on Monday and closed on Fridays

Amer Fort
(translated by me from what the guide explained to me in Hindi about the Amer Fort in City of Forts and Palaces, JaiPur) Amer Fort as explained by Guide (local man) What does the guide explain. This palace we are looking at is known as Amer Fort. Its speciality is that it represents Hindu and Muslim cultures at the same time. (Maha?)Raja Man Singh's sister Jodha Bai was married to Emperor Akbar. This palace was built in the 16th century, 450 years ago, while building the palace itself took time. This was built in 137 years by 3 Kings in their respective generations. It took long as there were no constructions Machines in those time. Construction started in 1590 and ended in 1727. The first among the Kings who started building this palace was Man Singh, the brother in law of Akbar. The successive King was Jai SIngh I and the third King was Jai Singh II. Do you know Sir, who King Jai SIngh was, he was Sawai Jai SIngh, who finished this palace and built the city of Jai Pur. He completed the palace with three parts. The tourist who wants to visit the palace completely may need one day. This most beautiful feature of the palace has three names, one is First Part of Palace, the second is Mirror palace or "sheesh mahal". Have you watched the movie Mughle Azam SIr? (Me: I don't remember if I have!!) There is a musical in it "Jub Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya". A movie set was replicated in Bombay, in that the Bed Room of the King and Queen was called "Deewane Khas" , this is the third ...

Pushkar Having spent the major part of my youth in DELHI I still cannot find words to describe this town. You have to come here and experience it. Just 11 Km from Ajmer and surrounded by hills on three sides and sand dunes on the other, an oasis in inhospitable surrounding is an absolute must-see in Rajasthan. Pushkar, is a Hindu pilgrim town and has one of the five dhams or pilgrimages that are held in high esteem by Hindus. The others are Badrinath, Puri, Rameswaram, and Dwarka. Emperor Aurangzeb destroyed many of the temples here during his progroms on the Hindus. THE PUSHKAR LAKE: (Tirtharaj, which means the Royal Pilgrimage) It is revered as one the most sacred lakes among the Hindus. The belief is that; a dip in this lake on Kartik Purnima (the full moon day of the Kartik month), and worship at the Brahma temple cleanses the soul and ensures salvation. The famed waters of the Pushkar Lake are said to wash away the sins of a lifetime. The mystical water is also believed to cure skin diseases. There are many temples located around the lake that add to the charm and mystique of this sacred town. JAGATPITA SHRI BRAHMA MANDIR: (Lord of the Universe) This is the only Temple dedicated to Lord Bhrama in World. The temple stands on a high plinth with a striking red sandstone spire (shiker), marble steps leading up to it the temple. Just above the main gateway there is an image of a goose, the symbol of Brahma. Within the temple is a silver turtle set on the floor facing the ...

Indien-Jaipur-Amber
(1621-1667) weiter ausgebaut.

Jaipur : Au bord du lac Man Sagar (Jal Mahal)

SAVE MANSAGAR - Jal Mahal Clinged In Regional Politics
The exquisite Jal Mahal, once the private pleasure pavilion of royalty remains neglected for almost an era due to its surrounding area. For generations, this iconic edifice of the Jal Mahal water palace rising in serene splendor from Mansagar Lake has greeted visitors to Jaipur. But with gradual passage of time, its potential got neglected with the constant race of development which compels it on the way of degradation. After decades Rajasthan Government realized the importance of it revival so as to present it as an iconic face of pink city. Jal Mahal Resort Private Ltd. Took up the responsibility for restoration of Palace and revival of the lake Mansagar. In 2006 National, International, & regional level experts collaborated to revive the monument & the lake, thus maintaining the original framework. But after revival this mesmerizing palace is stuck up between the quests of politicians & is not open for public, IBN7, Citizen Ruby Khan along with common man tries to arouse voice against this. After the judgment decision of Supreme Court stating that the authority for maintenance should remain in hands of Jal Mahal Pvt Ltd, and there by it should be open for public visit. But the Rajasthan government seems not to align with the decision and was noticed experiment ing all the measures to delay the final agreement from its side.

Jaipur tourism HDartlife
This famous city is the capital of Rajasthan and has earned universal renown as the " Pink City ", and pink it is, with beautiful constructed palaces, havelis and forts. Tall, rugged men with handle-bar whiskers sport bright pink turbans. Jaipur which means the city of victory was built exactly 273 years back and is 262 km by road from Delhi ( Capital of India ). A strong wall encircles the old city and even today has a suggestion of formidable strength, its function of protecting all within is obvious. The plains of Rajasthan of which Jaipur is the capital once thundered and echoed with clash of swords and the drums of wars.Built in 1727 by Sawai Jai Singh-II, Jaipur was the first planned city of its time ( the earlier planned city in northern India having been built near Taxila sometime in the 2nd century BC ). Jaipur was planned by Vidhyadhar Bhattacharya, a Bengali architect, in a grid system with wide straight avenues, roads, streets and lanes and uniform rows of shops on either side of the main bazaars, all arranged in nine rectangular city sectors (chokris). The city itself is an attractive creation worthy of universal admiration. There is a feast in store for tourists. Attractive monuments where one can breathe the fragrance of history. Comfortable and luxurious hotels, once the proud of kings, parks, gardens, and excursions of nearby places of interest, make Jaipur a tourist's paradise.
