Gigwise is an online music magazine that features music news, photos, album reviews, music festivals, concert tickets, and a community forum. Founded in 2001, the magazine is based in the United Kingdom.

The site is owned by Simon Perlaki and .Andy D Day as part of Giant Digital Ltd. The site was the UK's 20th most-visted music news website in Dec. 2010 according to comScore. The site began as a live music listings service in Liverpool, then expanded to cover news, reviews and interviews. The business relocated to London in 2006.

Gigwise has a weekly news round-up on its media player produced by ReelKandi. The site helped launch the careers of The Slits biographer Zoe Street Howe and Scottish TV presenter Catriona Shearer, as well as hosting the Indie Idle competition for Camden Crawl Festival 2007, 2008 and 2009. Gigwise also helped at Snowbombing Festival in 2009 to run King of the Mountain. The winning band, I Am Austin, won €2000 and a headline slot at the festival.

Brody Dalle (born Bree Joanna Alice Robinson on January 1, 1979) is an Australian-born American singer, songwriter and guitarist. She rose to fame as lead singer and guitarist of punk rock band The Distillers and currently fronts Spinnerette.

Dalle was intrigued by Cyndi Lauper and The Beatles as a child. At age 12, she discovered Nirvana and Hole, crucial early influences. Dalle's musical career began at 13 years old starting with guitar. She participated in Rock'n'Roll High School (RnRHS), a Melbourne feminist collective started by Stephanie Bourke. She became interested in Black Flag, Discharge, and Flipper. In 1995 at 16, her first band Sourpuss, played a set at Australia's Summersault Festival where she met Tim Armstrong, frontman of punk rock band Rancid. The two pursued a relationship. Armstrong was over 13 years her senior and Dalle initially lied about her age but the couple got engaged shortly after Dalle turned 18. She moved with Armstrong from Melbourne to Los Angeles, California and there founded The Distillers.

Anna Calvi is an English musician who plays in the band of the same name. On 6 December 2010, Calvi was announced as a nominee for the BBC's Sound of 2011 poll. Her debut album Anna Calvi was released in the UK on 17 January 2011, where it debuted at number 40 on 23 January. The album was subsequently nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize in 2011 and the BRIT Awards in 2012.

Anna Calvi was born in Twickenham, in 1982 and spent most of her first three years of life in hospital. "The way I dealt with that was to create my own world. And that's what my relationship with music is – a world of my own creation that I escape into. I was always a dreamer. The early things stick with you," she later remembered. Anna Calvi grew up being exposed to a multitude of genres of music by her music-loving Italian father; this eclectic array ranged from Captain Beefheart to The Rolling Stones to Maria Callas, combined with an early understanding of classical music, "I was so taken by the sound. Whenever I saw an instrument I would get so excited and my heart would beat really fast". Calvi first picked up the violin at 6, and guitar at 8."Something would take me over whenever I'd seen an electric guitar," she later recalled. By the age of 10 she was using a double cassette karaoke machine to overdub her playing. All the while, attracted "to the impressionistic element of the music", she came to be much influenced by 20th century composers Messiaen, Ravel, and Debussy, the feel of which she would try to recreate on the guitar, an instrument she was compelled to learn on discovering Django Reinhardt and Jimi Hendrix at the age of 13.
