Feb. 20, 2012: Today's special edition of The Morning Swim Show features a fascinating Ready Room interview in the Swimming World studio with Olympic and NCAA legen John Naber. Naber, who was the star of the Olympics, as well as four NCAA championships for the University of Southern California, offers his perspectives on how swimming has changed in the past 35 years, from the issue of professionalism to the public perception of the sport. He offers up his opinion that swimmers should not skip the collegiate swimming experience to become professional swimmers, using such swimmers as Kristine Quance as valid examples. He also gives a perspective on his own career, as host Peter Busch asks Naber if he would have continued swimming beyond 1977 if the sport allowed athletes to be professionals.

Ali-G...Interview with John Naber About Olympics
Sojust who is Ali G, and how did he get on TV? In his own words: "Me woz born in da heart off da Staines ghetto. I has lived wiv me Nan in Staines at 37 Cherry Blossom Close from da day me woz born, coz wiv both me parents havin been smoked, dere werent no one else around to look afta her. Me has been carin for her ever since. Me woz failed by da skool system and hated every minute me spent in da classroom. In fact added together, dat time woz probly da most borin 3 hours of me life - altho me do still go to a skool re-union every second Monday at Staines Job Centre... As well as bein unemployed - i iz also got a lot off well important careers. As head of Da West Staines Massive, me control da most peace lovin and violent gang in da hole of Barkshire. Afta happearin on some crap programme dat woz on at 11 a clock or somefin, it werent long before me ad me own show. Dis meant me was able to take a in depf look at a lot off serious issues.... I iz now easily da most respekted face on Brittish telly and it iz probably only a matter off time before me get offered me own slot on Channel Michelinazo - or hopefully even cable..."

6/13/11 WHAT an HONOR: A HANDWRITTEN NOTE from the GREAT ZAM
..just got it today..zamperini, of course, was an olympic athlete & war hero...actually a POW (prisoner of war) for a while after survivng weeks in a raft in the middle of the ocean w/ a few other soldiers ...he's a survivor of the war...& he grew up here in southern cal...in torrance to be exact..there's an airport named after him ...great guy..saw him for the first time at the crystal cathedral & put a little clip of him on YouTube & the clip went "viral" as they say...over 10000 views now...that's a lot for my channel..the most being a Tony Dorsettt clip..which is almost to 100000 now, but zamperini was/is more of a hero for his sacrifice for our country (could have easily ended up MIA (missing in action) or in a coffin on a plane back to the USA) ...& his friend, John Naber, the great olympic athlete (swimmer) magnifies Zamperini...these guys go around doing book signing & inspirational speeches..& I think zamperini is still working on a movie..sometime to be released..I've seen some YouTube interviews of him as well..fascinating story..& most importantly in my book ..he's a Christian believer & is telling the good news..spreading the faith like the wind ...an apostle..both him & John Naber..partners in Christ..God bless them..!
